What are your plans on this stormy day?

This rain is horrendous! Just in the conservatory drinking coffee, reflecting and I'm hoping for a snuggly day in front of the TV.

We planned to potter into town today for lunch and shopping but I absolutely want to throw the plan out, order in, watch old Xmas movies and have a glass of red.

Sat watching Black Doves and heading into Birmingham later to watch the Human League!

Hoping the drive isn't too bad, we're an hour down the M6!

I'm at work, no one has cancelled their bookings so I'm hosting an event tonight and have another booking during the day.

Walked here, will walk back about 10pm. Can't wait (!)

Iliketulips · 07/12/2024 11:27

Unless, you're in a red alert area, I'd still go into town as usual. If you were going out Xmas shopping, it'd be better to do it today rather than tomorrow. I work for a High Street store and deliveries cancelled today and none tomorrow, so stocks on some items will run short.

Here I'm wrapping a few presents, have a new book to read and will go out for a good walk - we're on the edge of the alerts though and other than the rain, the wind was worse the first half of the night (before warnings kicked in). Don't blame you having a nice glass of something though.

I'm in Ireland so we had it very bad last night. This morning it's very blustery but sunny & warm.
I'm taking my 6yr old niece to do her Christmas shopping at 12 and then back to my house to make her lunch & let her wrap everything. Then drop her home around 3:30/4pm. Then home for a take away I think 🥰

There's a 30min break in the rain coming when k can run to the shops...

What's on my snuggly afternoon food list?!

Im On my second Bailey's latte and got breakfast pasties in the Ninja. Then watching Elf. This afternoon I will do my usual go to bed with a Radio 4 play, Oliver twist today get up around 6, shower and we are having a roast chicken dinner, followed by Die Hard.b

This sounds like a top day!

So far I’ve achieved waxing my legs 😶. Made a full English once my bread was cool enough to cut.

I’m trying to think of a clever way to clean these big graveyard light fittings without unscrewing four individual nut things and steadying the glass (without breaking it) up a ladder. Think that might be beyond me today …. suspect I’ve been here before and that’s why the graveyard exists.

Listening to my audiobook, still not dressed.

My plans are trimming my dog’s claws, finishing the pants I’m making and there may be mince pies and an episode or two of Black Doves on Netflix 😌

On rainy days, I like to bake some bread and cookies, then eat while watching TV. After I'm full, I fall asleep listening to the sound of the rain. Although storms can be scary, to me, it's the perfect white noise.😊

Sounds good

In bed recovering from flu doing Christmas stocking shopping online. Just been told one of DS's friends has nowhere to go for Christmas, so he is coming to us for a few days and I have to rustle up a few stocking presents for him as well as DC, their partners, and DH. Going to keep me busy for most of the day.

What a lovely thing to do. The true spirit of Christmas. I bet DS's friend is thrilled to be joining you for Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and your family

Trousers

Crunchymum · 07/12/2024 12:58

Well we braved swimming this morning and it was horrid (and we're only in a yellow warning area)

Umbrellas were useless, we were soaked through our waterproofs after the 10 minute walk and had to wear our sodden coats home. The little one (7 so not weeny and generally quite robust) cried the whole walk home. Her trousers and gloves had got soaked so she was wet and cold and miserable. I should have cancelled but we'd have had to pay for the 1:1 lesson due to short notice. Think I'd have rather paid £40 not to go out.

Suffice to say we're all in for the day - and probably whole weekend - now!!

Princessfluffy · 07/12/2024 13:04

Supposed to walk to an outdoor Xmas event but it's been cancelled 😢

So instead I'm nursing my cold at home. DH is cooking tonight. I've had a nice bath and am wearing loungewear and lolling around on the sofa with cats.

Not planning to do much other than maybe make some Xmas cards and watch a bit of telly.

fivebyfivebuffy · 07/12/2024 13:09

Long shower and hair wash and a bit of lazing about watching TV
Making cottage pie for the freezer
