I had a big glass of wine in the middle of the night last night as too wound up by life to sleep. Not my usual practice. I lay there in the bed in the spare room with no snoring husband and just chilled. It was a simple pleasure I know but God it was bliss. Might deffo again take over the spare room when he snores too much. Won’t make the wine a habit. Anyway I was just wondering if you can beat this. What’s the absolute definition of bliss to you. It could be a simple afternoon nap or it could be a fabulously complex and indulgent treat. All ideas welcome.

My big strong DP pulling me close and wrapping his big swimming and rugby honed arms round me in bed on a cold winter’s night. I can’t tell you how safe and secure and warm that makes me feel. Absolute heaven.

timetodecide2345 · 30/11/2024 06:51

When my 19 year old daughter gives me a spontaneous hug and says 'I love you mum'. Nothing beats that.

SometimesItsBrave2Run · 30/11/2024 06:52

I am currently lying in bed with a hot cup of tea - my bed side lamp is on, it's all quiet and peaceful. Soon I'll get ready and go to the gym.

This is heaven adjacent for me as I spent 14 years married to a horrible man who was not a morning person. I am, so I used to be forced to skulk around in the dark, sneaking downstairs to have a cup of tea in the chilly living room, waiting for him to emerge from his lair.

We separated in March but it's these small things that gladden my heart and make all the ex drama worthwhile.

renomeno · 30/11/2024 06:54

I look forward to my mug of tea in bed every morning and it brings me disproportionate pleasure!

Pippyls67 · 30/11/2024 07:00

The mug of tea in bed of a morning is bliss. Agreed. In fact I’m doing it right now too!

Waking up to find that my eldest has joined us in bed during the night. It's a squeeze with four of us plus the two cats sitting on our feet but the sight of my little family all peacefully asleep makes my heart sing.

A ski slope in the sun - so beautiful and peaceful and a reminder of how precious planet earth is

LoudSnoringDog · 30/11/2024 07:15

When all my children are at home with us. My eldest two have left home ( one in the Royal Marines and one seeking out musical theatre stardom in London). We only have dd (11) home with us now and she loves her brothers so much and misses them.
When the diaries align and everyone is home it's such a great time. The house is buzzing again.

I remember the first time I went skiing and my audible gasp at the top of a mountain. Beautiful

Waking up to a sun rising in the Maldives on a completely deserted beach

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 30/11/2024 07:18

My family are wonderful and I love spending time with them, but... I wake up earlier than everyone else at the weekend and absolutely love spending the early morning curled up alone on the sofa with a cup of tea and my knitting, accompanied by the dog and the cat. It's a good antidote to my week spent in rooms full of 30 teenagers (great though they are)!

FreshLaundry · 30/11/2024 07:22

I actually love it when DH takes the kids to his Mum’s and I’ve got the weekend alone to do whatever I like. Go to whatever weird art shows I like. Watch TV at whatever time I like. And have cereal for dinner instead of cooking a sensible meal for anyone!

Sitting on the hillside overlooking Whitesands Bay with Ramsey Island in the distance.

DustyLee123 · 30/11/2024 07:31

Everybody out of the house, me sitting on the couch with the dog next to me, watching a Christmas film while drinking a frothy coffee. Bliss.

Tooty78 · 30/11/2024 07:31

I remember when our DS was about 3 years old, he would come into our bed around 6am and lay between us and we were just sort of half awake, not talking.
I always thought it didn't get any better than that, my whole world safe, in one small space.

Joiedepotato · 30/11/2024 07:42

My baby daughter is having a hard time with teeth and colds at the moment. After a rough night, she will sometimes go to sleep on my chest in the early morning like she used to as a newborn. She might have had me up all night but her little snuffles and sighs make me feel like I'm holding the whole world in my arms.

DominoRules · 30/11/2024 07:46

Being out early with the dog, nobody else around and it’s just so peaceful. He’s the most faithful being I have ever met and grounds me in a way I never realised I needed before we got him. Home now and having a cup of tea snuggled together on the sofa waiting for everyone else to get up and the noise to start!

Moonshine5 · 30/11/2024 07:47

Sitting under the skylight having a hot coffee lost in my work.

shellyleppard · 30/11/2024 07:47

When my two autistic sons sit together and play on the playstation. Just listening in to their conversations makes me smile. They are very funny together. Doesn't happen very often so I really appreciate them when it does.
My eldest son came home with a new sewing kit for me the other day..... I was over the moon. A really good one with needles, pins and lots of bits and bobs. Then gave me 3 hoodies to repair 🤣

PlayingDevilsAdvocateisinteresting · 30/11/2024 07:55

Well, my absolutely favourite heavenly time (in the last decade) was a few weeks ago, and it is not at all surprising that it filled me with so much love and joy. I was sitting watching my young adorable toddler Grandchildren playing together with their older cousin - my first, and incredibly amazing Grandchild. I don't get a chance to see any of them very often, so when I do it really is the best feeling in the world 🥰

I was also lucky enough to visit a smallish hilly area that I have never been to before, whilst I was on the way back from visiting my Dearest Children and Grandchildren a few weeks ago. I have not been able to be out in nature for a long time now, and the feeling of both peace and gratitude at that unexpected time, almost stunned me.

These are the sort of things that feed and enrich my soul.

Anxietypot6 · 30/11/2024 07:58

Reading stories to DC before bed, all snuggled up under the duvet. DD will often spontaneously say something like "this is my home" or "I love all of you" and then we'll have a family cuddle. 😍

But also, being on my own watching a Christmas movie under a cosy blanket with a frothy coffee (as described by PP) is a close second!

Overtheatlantic · 30/11/2024 07:58

Sitting in bed, reading, snoring husband next to me, snoring cat at my feet. Bonus if it’s snowing.

keepingsanity · 30/11/2024 08:02

Having each of my 6 year old triplets pad from their room into mine and jump into my bed one by one for a cuddle. Bliss.

Tintackedsea · 30/11/2024 08:02

Swimming in the Hebrides. Endless blue sky, icy water, empty beach.

Andnowshesatoddler · 30/11/2024 08:08

"you will come pick me up" when my little one goes anywhere showing me she's confident that we will always look after her.
A big open mouth kiss. Last night her dad and I was putting her to bed and she kissed one of us then the other and delayed bedtime as long as possible.
She's hilarious at the moment when she finds excuses to delay bedtime, she thinks brushing her teeth delays matters, crack on babe 😆
The knowledge that whilst not rich I have enough money in the bank to pretty much do what I want and don't think twice about a new dress for example. I grew up in almost poverty with holes in dad's shoe so he could provide for his family, so financial security is so comforting
