I had a big glass of wine in the middle of the night last night as too wound up by life to sleep. Not my usual practice. I lay there in the bed in the spare room with no snoring husband and just chilled. It was a simple pleasure I know but God it was bliss. Might deffo again take over the spare room when he snores too much. Won’t make the wine a habit. Anyway I was just wondering if you can beat this. What’s the absolute definition of bliss to you. It could be a simple afternoon nap or it could be a fabulously complex and indulgent treat. All ideas welcome.

A morning cup of tea in bed, preferably made by someone else.

The dog being delighted with herself at finding a huge stick on a walk. She's not a big dog,

On a summer morning sitting in the sun first thing in the morning watching the birds before anyone else is up,

Going to a really good gig.

PreBlendOils · 30/11/2024 08:26

Watching my 2 dc catch sea slaters on a warm beach with ddog snuggled under the tent in the shade, a collection of rocks, shells, sticks and random stuff from dd at my feet, and a good coffee in my hand. One of those moments where you think fuck me, this is what life is all about.

Hot bath on a cold night in a dark bathroom - Aromatherapy Associates Deep Bath oil, Carlos Cipa Dark Tree playing, candle flickering. scalding hot cup of tea. Literally heaven on earth - even better if had a gruelling day at work - that first immersion is perfection.

Icy cold outside, cosied up in bed early morning with a cappuccino, book and winter classical music playing.

DDs footsteps bounding up the stairs for good morning cuddles.

Ooh and Chanel 1957 perfume.

StrawberryBunny · 30/11/2024 08:46

I had a moment like this last night. We've recently moved DD from her cot to a toddler bed. We cuddle up in there together every night and I stay with her while she falls asleep. Last night she brought a book to bed, which she doesn't do often, and was snuggled up against me looking at pictures of bears, and then reached up and kissed me. She was aiming for my cheek but got my nose. Pure loveliness.

I also had a brief moment of swimming in the sea off Tenerife earlier this year where the sun was glorious, the water was wonderful, no one was near me, and it was just marvellous. I felt free and happy and fortunate. It only lasted for five minutes, but it was a great five minutes!

More regular moments of bliss usually involve cups of tea in the morning, in the peace and quiet.

This time of year is heavenly to me. I love cold air, piles of autumn leaves and darker evenings. Nothing makes me happier than a November day with dinner in the slow cooker, lamps and candles, a good book and a Christmas film on TV. Christmas is in the air but it's not in full swing yet; it's all still there to look forward to.

comedycentral · 30/11/2024 09:03

I wake up and my husband has left me a flask of tea and a flask of coffee - lovely 😍

soothingrain · 30/11/2024 09:05

Running early in the mornings. We have fields behind our house and I often go for a run early when there is noone about with the dog.

I often feel annoyed when getting ready to do it but once I am out there, the sun just coming up, running feels like I am literally flying and the beautiful scenery and endorphin rush feels incredible. When I come back I feel like I could conquer the world. Pretty sure the dog feels the same too 😆

hby9628 · 30/11/2024 09:17

@Pippyls67 that sounds blissful. I am troubled by a snoring husband. Sometimes he's not even snoring that loudly but I just fixate on the sound & can't sleep. Anyway if have just bought a sleep mask with earphones that you Bluetooth music too. I'm hoping that might help if I use white noise to block out the snore 🤞 if not I'll try the wine!

Being out early with the dog, nobody else around and it’s just so peaceful. He’s the most faithful being I have ever met and grounds me in a way I never realised I needed before we got him. Home now and having a cup of tea snuggled together on the sofa waiting for everyone else to get up and the noise to start!

@DominoRules

This just made me cry. I lost my dog in august and every day I miss our 7am walk 🥺

Andnowshesatoddler · 30/11/2024 09:45

"dance like nobody is watching" Saturday mornings with my daughter. We've just been doing an amazing rendition of baby shark.
Daddy is now giving her a bath, hearing them talk is beautiful.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 30/11/2024 09:46

One I remembered recently was Christmas morning when (now long grown up) dds still believed in 🎅🏻, excitedly bringing their stockings to open on our bed. Our dog and cat would usually be present, too - dog in particular was very interested to see the presents. Luckily we had a nice big bed!

OrangesCinammonIvy · 30/11/2024 09:50

@SometimesItsBrave2Run it's amazing what we put ourselves through.

Thankfully not with dh but old bf etc.

Enjoy your mornings!! Liberation...

PotOfViolas · 30/11/2024 09:50

Late dh and I went on our first holiday to Scotland in May 99. We stayed in a B&B on the shores of Loch Linnhe. The weather was gorgeous. I remember walking along the beach of the Loch with dh with spectacular mountain scenery all around us. No one else around. I remember it as being heavenly and I fell in love with dh that holiday. I remember I found a broken pretty shell and kind dh found me two of the same shells that weren't broken. Typical of his kindness. The B&b owner was a lovely lady too.

Fabuloosaloo · 30/11/2024 09:51

When my children were infant school age and in the winter we used to lock all the doors at night and snuggle down together and watch a video. Just that feeling of my family safe and warm and happy and the rest of the world shut out .

Cattery · 30/11/2024 09:56

The cat coming in after a night on the tiles jumping on the bed buzzing to be with us.
Sitting in peace with Christmas lights on drinking a glass of wine thinking about things.
Having us all together at family gatherings and knowing how lucky I am x

DominoRules · 30/11/2024 11:32

@LoudSnoringDog I’m so sorry for the loss of your lovely dog, they really do hold a piece of your heart xx

Planesmistakenforstars · 30/11/2024 12:08

Waking up on a Saturday or Sunday morning, having a full English breakfast and settling in with 12-15 hours of watching sport ahead of me without interruption. When the stars align and it's a morning of winter sport, a test match, then F1, a major horse race and either a great card of boxing or NFL playoff games, that is heaven.

louderthan · 30/11/2024 12:10

Riding a horse over the South Downs on a sunny morning.

Swimming in the sea

My big strong DP pulling me close and wrapping his big swimming and rugby honed arms round me in bed on a cold winter’s night. I can’t tell you how safe and secure and warm that makes me feel. Absolute heaven.

This is one of mine too.

His strong muscular arms and wide shoulders make me feel so safe and held - literally and metaphorically. I can feel myself fully relax.

HelpMeGetThrough · 30/11/2024 13:13

A really big dump, a proper two flusher!!

After having had a tonne of bowel removed and a resection done as an emergency a couple of weeks ago, doing this would be better than heaven at the moment!!!

AloneLike · 30/11/2024 13:16

Another vote for sea swimming, in Cornwall, on a scorching hot day.

TomatoSandwiches · 30/11/2024 13:17

An empty house, a really deep, hot bath with some soaking salts then a freshly laundered bed with the right amount of white noise to fall asleep to.

RomeoRivers · 30/11/2024 13:18

Watching the sunrise on a beach in the Caribbean with my DH and DC. It was a really special moment full of gratitude and love 💕
