North Oxford, covering to gardens, not settling on roads.

ThatRareUmberJoker · 19/11/2024 09:45

Whats the weather like in Northampton and the surrounding towns?

That made me smile. 😁

I honestly think DH was more excited than the kids - he's mourning that he has to WFH and can't go for a walk! The schools are still open so the kids have gone in (they weren't happy!), but DH is so sad for them! 😂 Thick on the ground today so we'll be building snowmen after school! Or snow Vikings, apparently haha! ⛄️

ChishiyaBat · 19/11/2024 09:54

Ooh it's gerring heavier here, the sky is full of promise❄️☃️

Uh Huh…Rainy/snowy there most of the night if the forecast is correct..

Should be good for the ski resorts..probably grim downtown.

Edited

didn't last and didn't stick. 🤷‍♀️

caringcarer · 19/11/2024 10:21

I got up at 9am and found it's snowed in Tamworth 20 miles North of Birmingham. It's still snowing lightly now. The weather forecast for my area was rain.

Me too. Radio 4 in my case.

Yes you're right, it was Radio 4!

I am off for a walk in the snow in a bit. Will post a few pics after! Grin

Thanks to everyone who has posted so far!

@FadedRed 😂😂

It's melted enough on the roads here thank goodness. Hopefully that means my boiler part is getting nearer to this freezing house brrrrr

I love this. I am a Northerner living in the South but getting back home as soon as I buy a house. My children are scattered all around the country and all have snow. I don't.

MadisonAvenue · 19/11/2024 12:34

Barely anything here where I am in the West Midlands, roads are clear, even estate roads, but my driving test for this lunchtime has been cancelled.
So pissed off as the rescheduled date I’ve been emailed isn’t until late March!

MoonWoman69 · 19/11/2024 12:52

It's all melting now, but I've just had a WhatsApp weather alert to say more is on the way... Wish I could say the same for my bloody heating engineer!!! He's got an hour and ten minutes left!!! 🤣

Furrydogmum · 19/11/2024 13:17

Woodhead Pass is closed between the Flouch and the road to Holmfirth. Surprisingly, Snake Pass is still open.

That's very unusual, the Woodhead used to be where we went when the Snake was closed!

They did close Snake today after all. Usually Snake is the first to close.

RampantIvy · 19/11/2024 07:12

I remember it well. I'm near Penistone and we had no trains for 5 days.

I recall 2010, we had just moved to Norfolk and had some of the heaviest snow they'd ever seen, we had a small bird table in the garden that had a deeper and deeper 'wedding cake' on it as the days progressed.

FadedRed · 19/11/2024 11:22

Surely that should be cardigan, what sort of wuss wears a big coat in the North?

Zocola · 19/11/2024 20:16

Won't help since local is where I live and WY is where I am visiting. Plus nicer to chat to people. Usually.

Too cold to snow in my area (West Scotland) I have to go into a meeting tomorrow but it says the feels like temp will be -4c…I need to go dig out the ‘really big coat’

@BashfulClam there isn't really any such thing as "too cold for snow":
