Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day after a bit of a lie in. I didn't sleep well last night - up every couple of hours - so am enjoying the peace for the moment.

The kittens have been up for breakfast & seem to have gone back to bed for now 💤. Everyone else is still sleeping & probably will be for a while yet.

The only one of us with proper plans for the day is dd2. She's meeting a friend for lunch & a few hours out.

Dd1 will be doing college work - possibly revision. I can't remember if she has any more A Level mocks in the coming week 🙈

I plan to sit down with the calendar & decide when to ice & decorate the Christmas cakes, when to bake dd2's birthday cake & put anything else that comes to me on there.

Also want to deep clean dd2's room & send a couple more things I've sold on Vinted. If there's time I'll upload some more too.

Not sure what's for tea yet, maybe I'll make meatballs & sauce 😋

Tonight I want to assemble the crochet sausage dog, write a list of things still to pick up for Christmas (not much) and write a list of stocking fillers for my dad.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning! I’m just at the hairdresser’s with dd, then taking her to her gym class. Meeting up with a friend for lunch which will be lovely. Not sure what the boys will do - maybe football. Dinner will depend how big our lunch is! Have a lovely day everyone.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 16/11/2024 09:17

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

Nice slow start to the morning here, cuddled with DS on the sofa and watching cartoons. I had a sudden rush of energy last night and did all the normal weekend chores so am feeling very smug right now!

Me & DS both have haircuts booked in town for later this morning, so will get up and get ready for that soon. Will probably grab a Christmas sandwich for lunch from Pret 😋 and wonder round some shops. DS has a birthday party to go to in the afternoon in the same town, so we'll have time to kill.

Not sure what we'll do for dinner. Maybe a lasagna (as my kitchen is so clean for once 😂) ~ then possibly time to introduce DS to Harry Potter. We'll see! Have a great day everyone :)

Justonedayatatime11 · 16/11/2024 09:18

Morning. DD has been deposited at the yard, and I'm now sat in the car whilst DH has gone to the bank. Home via M&S for something nice for tea and the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions.

DD is off to her dads tonight so it will be cheese and crackers etc in front of Strictly and an early night. I need to try and make a GF Tunis cake today for my dad so will give that a go and maybe make some cookies too

Nottodaygoaway · 16/11/2024 09:20

Last day of two weeks of annual leave 😭 so treating adult daughter to brunch. Unfortunately I have some housework to do and my shopping delivery is coming this afternoon.

Kim82 · 16/11/2024 09:23

Good morning everyone, just me up here at the moment as usual, dh and dd20 are both at work. (Actually, I think I can hear dd10 moving around so I think she’s just woken up and will make an appearance in a minute). It’s cold this morning so I’ve just had a lovely long, hot shower and got dressed into some comfy clothes.

I’ve no plans today apart from putting away the Tesco shop which is due in about an hour so I’ll just potter about the house and will maybe read or watch a few more episodes of The Handmaids Tale which I’m re-watching.

We’re having jacket potatoes with various toppings for tea tonight then dh is off to the pub with his friends and dd17 has asked if we can watch a Christmas film tonight so we’ll do that before I head off to bed.

mitogoshigg · 16/11/2024 09:23

Drinking coffee currently, proper cafetière as Saturday. Bacon sandwich already consumed. Need to do chores Confused

Whu · 16/11/2024 09:23

Good morning!
I love these threads. Today, I’m off to do a Hyrox sim (like a gym competition), then having brunch with friends and a relaxing evening.
Have a lovely day all.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 16/11/2024 09:23

Morning all. I’m in bed with a cuppa under a sleeping baby. DH and our 3yo have only just woken up. I’ll send the older one down for more tea in a bit! We’re planning a leaf-kicking walk in the woods this morning and then lunch out at our local cafe. I should probably get a headstart on Christmas planning this afternoon, there’s so much to think about but I love it. This evening will probably be pizzas and an early night with my book (we’re in the newborn stage and the nights are catching up with me).

CalicoPusscat · 16/11/2024 09:26

Morning all, I'm going to be useless today, woke up 4.30am and have a sore stomach so I don't feel like going to a special interest group at 10.30am.

Nor do I feel like walking to the next town as planned. So I'll stay close to home and do some food shopping as I wanted to do cottage pie tonight. Nice bath and a clothes wash.

JustLoretta · 16/11/2024 09:26

Good morning!
No one else up here but I've been awake ages thanks to a snoring husband, the cat and an amazon delivery. Grr.

Meeting a friend for swim, sauna etc, then taking her out to lunch.

Making my Christmas pudding later (Delia ofc)

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 16/11/2024 09:28

I'm up and showered and have been drinking a giant mug of tea whilst watching Stargate: Atlantis and waiting for the teens to appear.

Have got laundry to do, and need to get petrol and milk. DH was away visiting his sister yesterday, so waiting for him to get home.

Will probably spend the day reading, cleaning and doing laundry. I'm also ordering a few xmas presents online. DD15 is off to the cinema apparently so waiting to find out if I'm playing taxi or not.

Keleshey · 16/11/2024 09:29

Morning. I'll mostly be recovering from a hangover and hoping it doesn't finish me off 😂

I'll be going back to bed shortly, I woke up way too early and have a bad neck from sleeping awkwardly.

Then, I'm going to have a bath and plan what to wear tonight. I met a very nice man last night in the local pub and we may have had a bit of a kiss in the beer garden, now we have plans to meet up later! Not a date as such, such a few drinks in the local with a few other people but want to look my best (I currently look like I've crawled out of a bin).

CaptainRedbeardandbigbadbarry · 16/11/2024 09:32

Morning all.
I am recovering from major surgery and then a hospital admission with sepsis. Taking things slowly.
Plan on having a nice breakfast and then a nice shower. Might have beans on toast for breakfast.
Later will be vegetarian pasta bake with garlic bread.
I has lost lots of weight so am trying to build up my appetite. Mental health is very delicate as well so taking life very much on a daily basis at the moment.
Will watch strictly later and also am going to enjoy my two D.C today. I want to watch a film with them and spend time with them, even though I am still too wobbly to leave the house yet.
I missed them so much when I was in hospital.
Have a lovely day everyone 🩷

24CRZZNKKA · 16/11/2024 09:43

Currently sitting on the sofa feeling sorry for myself as I'm in early pregnancy and struggling with nausea and lack of energy.
DDs are playing with Barbie's and OH is in bed as he stayed up for the boxing.

Need to get the suitcases down from the loft today as have a rare trip away coming up.

Other than that we need to wait in on a workman coming to do some bits, he was supposed to be here at 9 🙄

Have a good weekend everyone

Topsy44 · 16/11/2024 09:48

Good morning Lucysmam and All.

Having a nice slow start to the day enjoying a coffee on the sofa with DD12. Will both have a late breakfast shortly and then get ready to go and see my Mum for the day. We’ll get a McDs for lunch - DD’s choice as she’s had a good week at school last week.

We’ll get home in time for Strictly and a picky tea.

Hope you all have lovely Saturdays!

dontforgetme · 16/11/2024 10:03

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

We've had a slow morning, as we usually do on Saturdays. Just had bagels for breakfast and about to get ready to do some Christmas decs shopping, one of my favourite days of the year! Love adding new decs to our collection plus we moved house this year and have bought a new tree for the kitchen so am on the hunt for new baubles.

We will get some food out as a family later then home to carry on our yearly Harry Potter fest.

Have lovely Saturdays all!

RabbitsRock · 16/11/2024 10:05

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. I’m not feeling very well - do wonder if it’s a physical reaction to emotions. DM has Parkinson’s & over the last few weeks she has been getting more & more confused & it’s heartbreaking to see 💔 I feel if I start crying I wouldn’t stop. She’s so frail now too.
Once DD15 emerges, she & I are off to a small farmers market at a plant nursery. It’s great that DD wants to come as she rarely does anything with me & DH. Hoping the honey seller from last time isn’t there as he really rubbed me up the wrong way! Not much else planned although should start preparing the house for Christmas. DD is going through a phase of clearing out her room. Surprised she’s got anything left in there! The boot is full of bags for charity so I’ll drop those off, probably at the Air Ambulance shop. DH working today. We might watch a film tonight. KFC for tea as we haven’t had it for ages.

Thislittlekitten · 16/11/2024 10:06

Morning all.

Im out for breakfast with DH. He’s doing a crossword and I’m mumsnetting. Very peaceful.

I had surgery this week so just taking it easy. We need to pick up DS from a friends later and dog walk but not sure if any other plans. Simple tea I think.

lucysmam · 16/11/2024 10:12

@dontforgetme we're going shopping for new decs next Friday, can't wait! It's one of my favourite days too 🎄

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I am recovering from a hysterectomy, so life is slow at the moment.
I am about to have tea and pills and my plans for the day amount to reframing a picture, Snooker and some sewing.
DH has been running around after me, bless him.
He is out with the dogs and then is going to do some hedge cutting down on the land this afternoon.
No idea what dinner will be, I'm on light food right now. Not that I've lost any weight. But I feel really well and don't hurt.

48wheaties · 16/11/2024 10:23

Take it easy@CaptainRedbeardandbigbadbarry. I've had sepsis, it's no joke!

I'm up and showered. I'm taking DD15 to a college open day later today as she's adamant she's not staying at her current school for 6th form.

Later on helping her with revision as she's got GCSE mocks next week eek!

Going to give the house a good dusting/cleaning and get my Christmas music out when I get the huge layer of dust off the piano.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 16/11/2024 10:26

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Captainredbeard I'm sorry to hear that you have been so unwell. Take things very easy 💐 Lucysmam I never sleep well so I can sympathise.
I've had two coffees and a buttered roll. Then I sorted out the washing, stripped the bed and put the whites on to wash while I went to Aldi where I picked up a couple of Christmas presents. Then a trip to the retail park to pick up a birthday present for dgs2 which I had ordered. Home again and the sheets etc are in the tumble dryer while I have a cuppa and a crumpet. The rest of the day I will get housework done and potter. I'm not watching strictly this year and haven't really missed it, so I'm going to watch Moonflower murders. Enjoy your day all

Pancakeflipper · 16/11/2024 10:27

Morning!
I have just returned from a pilates weights class.
DP is away this weekend. So me, my boys and the dog.

Going to change the bedding. Nothing better than the bed myself all fresh and smelling nice.

Got the Christmas cake to make with DS2.

A film with the boys tonight if they want to hang about with mum.

On week 2 of cancer treatment so no wine of a cheeky gin with my eldest. But got cheesecake!

lucysmam · 16/11/2024 10:35

@Pancakeflipper one of the most important questions I asked at my appointment after my first chemo was whether I could have a glass of wine! The answer was yes but not to be silly about it - so you might be able to (check first though, obviously! Don't just do as I did!).

Hello @lucysmam and all you Weekend Whys Whats and Wherefores

@CaptainRedbeardandbigbadbarry do take it easy. You’ve been through the mill. @Pancakeflipper you too.

quiet day here too. I have a list of must-get-round-to-that jobs to do and will pop to the gym for some strength training.

Cheeky glass of wine at the pub later and some easy telly to finish the day off.
