Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day after a bit of a lie in. I didn't sleep well last night - up every couple of hours - so am enjoying the peace for the moment.

The kittens have been up for breakfast & seem to have gone back to bed for now 💤. Everyone else is still sleeping & probably will be for a while yet.

The only one of us with proper plans for the day is dd2. She's meeting a friend for lunch & a few hours out.

Dd1 will be doing college work - possibly revision. I can't remember if she has any more A Level mocks in the coming week 🙈

I plan to sit down with the calendar & decide when to ice & decorate the Christmas cakes, when to bake dd2's birthday cake & put anything else that comes to me on there.

Also want to deep clean dd2's room & send a couple more things I've sold on Vinted. If there's time I'll upload some more too.

Not sure what's for tea yet, maybe I'll make meatballs & sauce 😋

Tonight I want to assemble the crochet sausage dog, write a list of things still to pick up for Christmas (not much) and write a list of stocking fillers for my dad.

Bit late to the thread today! Right now I am sitting on the sofa with a box of ritz crackers; I'll do a roast dinner when DS gets back from his merry trip round the shops.
DH is sitting at the table doing something with some box of model railway things that was delivered earlier and I think DD is doing homework upstairs.
DD and I had pizza for lunch; DS and DH had fishfingers and chips
Went for a cycle ride with DD but we didn't set off til after 2 and there's not much light at this time of year. Cycled to McDonalds at Gosforth Park, I had a swift coffee and she had a cookie, then we got back just as the light was fading. STill recovering.
Got back and Robin the handyman was here as the light fitting in the little toilet upstairs had completely failed, more than just the bulb this time. So Robin got a new one from Screwfix and fitted that, and finished just after we got back so sat and chatted to him for a bit.
DH still on crutches thanks to his hip replacement so the rest of us are using the small toilet as there are frames etc for DH on the other one currently.
DD very pleased as her contract at TKMaxx has been extended til 28 December meaning she can join in all the Christmas things like Secret Santa etc; she didn't want to put ther name down before in case she wasn't kept on.
Managed to get a little bit of stuff to the charity shop - including 2 pictures from my mum's house.
DD sorted quite a bit of clean washing, bless her, tho I see there are still several socks to sort; I have done the usual amount of washing/dishwasher loads/unloads.
Apparently dh's brother visited when we were out cycling so only dh saw him. He picked up birthday cards for our 2 nieces (his daughters) that were on the table tho, so I don't need stamps for those any more.
May spend this evening not doing very much at all - endless possibilities: dominoes, scrabble, bath, delete some emails on my phone entering any competitions I see on the way, try again to set up a Waitrose online order as I can't get my digital MyWaitrose card to load and I don't have a physical one - and, of course, read the rest of this thread.
Not commented on what anyone else is doing as not read any of it yet but I do look forward to this thread and joining in every weekend!

I took the dog out for an early walk at daybreak then from 10 to 5 I was doing an art workshop on Zoom. I am completely knackered! It was really good and I learned a lot.
I’m struggling to focus on anything so I think I’ll go and have a bath and take my book with me. I really need to go through my huge art materials stash (mostly donated to me) and radically thin it out. The village School will be grateful for any donations so that’s my main task for tomorrow, then I can drop it off one day next week.
I also need to finish knitting DGC1’s socks - the first pair disappeared in the post despite being sent by Registered post, I am pretty unimpressed so this pair will get signed for/registered post/ the whole caboodle.
I will enjoy reading everyone’s posts after my bath!

Robin the handyman refused to take any money for doing the job so we've decide to spend it on a Chinese takeaway!
