Best spa you were ever at?

I just went to one in Milan, Italy and oh my God it was amazing.

It's the best one I've ever been at.

There was an inside pool with jacuzzi sprays.
There was an Outside pool with jacuzzi sprays.
There was a sauna outside that was built like a train carriage.

Inside, they had a lavender sauna room, so you could breathe in lavender scent.

They also had, (the first one I've seen), a cinema special effects pool.

You sit in the pool and a short film comes on. Rain starts happening in the film, and then hot rain actually starts coming down on you in the pool.

I was impressed!

Moddershall Oaks is my favourite. It's beautiful.

The Champneys spas are incredible. I’ve been to a couple (years ago now though) and always had a wonderful time. We’ve got a few good ones here in Cornwall - the Headland in Newquay and St Michaels in Falmouth are both excellent.

You can't beat an oul' spa!

Aqua Sana Woburn Forest is always nice, as is Hoar Cross Hall.

I didn't rate Ragdale Hall at all. It was cold (inside the spa) when we went and the pools were cold too. Bollocks for what it cost!

I agree. Didn’t rate Ragdale at all!

Love Hoar Cross and Eden Hall though - sister spas, same company.

Seaham Hall in the North East is stunning.

Agreed!

MaddieElla · 11/11/2024 22:52

Just been to Eden Hall and absolutely loved it. Everything I did from 9 until 4 made me want to fall to sleep. So relaxing and was still in that relaxed state for the rest of the day. Slumber room, lavender and rose steam rooms...amazing!

Could have stayed longer but was DDs birthday so had to get home.

Gleneagles spa. Isn’t massive but is lovely and the treatments are excellent. Of course the hotel is pretty nice too!

Onemorefortheroad · 11/11/2024 23:18

Ribby Hall spa hotel is my personal favourite and really reasonably priced.

Bjorkdidit · 12/11/2024 04:38

I don't like the Center Parcs spa at as there's not enough hot tubs, only two small ones outside that are usually hogged by Groups Who Constantly Talk Loudly, which really spoils the experience even if you can actually get in one occasionally.

Another vote for the Woodland at Burnley especially after the refurbishment but it now seems to have been taken over by the Insta Crowd who are constantly doing duck face selfies in front of artfully arranged cocktail glasses.

I need to go to one that doesn't allow phones.

Natsku · 12/11/2024 04:52

One in Tallin. It had a bunch of lovely pools including a cold outside pool that I loved, several saunas, and best of all, free childcare in their onsite soft play centre.

Was that Shrubland Hall? I went there over 20 years ago and the entire staff were batshit crazy. The doctor was about 110 and he spent all my consultation time telling me about all his ailments. They also starved the guests to the point of feeling weak and faint. Bonkers place but long closed now

OMG! Yes that was the place. I've never known what it was called. I'd only recently moved to the UK and my now MIL took me there as a bonding experience! I had no idea it was a slimming/fat spa till I was told I was allowed to eat the food from the table that had some vegetables on it. MIL could only eat from the other table- which was basically just lettuce leaves!

I recall it being like the Little Britain sketch where Bubbles Devere would have fitted right in 😂

Therme Bucharest the best £32 for 12 hours

Crikeyalmighty · 12/11/2024 10:19

Bath thermal is very nice but much better Monday to Thursday as weekenders often do it as part of their weekend here - I also love the McDonald hotel spa here in Bath- indoor pool leading to lovely outdoor pool, ice showers, steam rooms etc- if anyone stays here it's worth paying for this hotel as the spa is really nice and included - abroad, suprisingly we stayed in an adults only hotel in menorca that had a really excellent spa -

Determined to make it here next year, I said this last year and we've never managed to fit it in so I'm even more determined now.

The one in Manchester will be close to me once built but no doubt 4x the price!!

stayathomer · 12/11/2024 10:22

My friend has offered me a night at her house with her kids baking and then doing our nails followed by a movie night in. It sounds like the dream to me (can’t tell my own kids hers are involved though they’ll want to come😅)

MaggieFS · 12/11/2024 10:39

I actually quite like Ragdale! I like the relaxed atmosphere and the food is good. Lots of different areas to relax in, and I think good value for what you get. I would agree the air temperature in the spa area is a bit chilly though.
