If you won the 15 million lotto jackpot tonight, what would you do with the money?

@SweetSakura In case you might be wondering just why I have firework rage at the moment, it is because we have been mollycoddling an absolutely distraught elderly cat whose full brother and lifelong companion died suddenly a few days ago. Our lovely boy is bereft and pining for his brother terribly. Our bastard neighbours have been setting off random monster fireworks every 5 minutes since before 6pm and BoyCat is now terrified out of his wits.

DinnaeFashYerself · 09/11/2024 19:58

Pay off my kids’ mortgages and get them newer cars.

Possibly move to a detached house.

Get a gardener and a cleaner.

And seriously consider early retirement.

ButFirstCovfefe · 09/11/2024 19:59

I’d keep my (lovely, but modest) town home for the week and have a weekend/holiday house no more than 1.5 hours away.
I’d give my two siblings 500k each/pay off mortgage or something.
See if I can support my parents (but they live very well currently.
I’d get a house keeper.
Go to the dentist 😬😅
Have a couple of minor health issues looked at.
Tutors for the kids (we have good state schools as I don’t think private is the only option (I was privately educated)).
I’d keep working as I love my job, but would possibly rein it back a bit.
Theatre.
Courses.
Dinners.

Ugh, it’d be glorious.

Pedallleur · 09/11/2024 20:00

Fix the house and go on holiday as often as I can. After making sure my daughter has money set by to get her through university and/or give her the option of not working, just living comfortably.

SisterAgatha · 09/11/2024 20:01

Disappear. Let everyone wonder wtf ever happened to me.

SundayGirl86 · 09/11/2024 20:01

Resign from work, pay my family’s and friends’ mortgages off and make sure they’re okay financially. I might move house myself but tbh I’m happy where I am. The biggest win would be time to do all the things I’d love to do but don’t currently have the money for!

dorabora · 09/11/2024 20:01

Villa in Cyprus (I love Cyprus!) apartment in london and New York. Go to the Maldives ! Buy a yacht ! Omg depressed now

MrsPeregrine · 09/11/2024 20:03

Pay off my mortgage, buy a house for DS and DD. Set some money aside to live off over time. Invest the rest. Leave my job. Maybe find another job doing something part time and more meaningful (and a lot less stressful than what I do now). Enjoy life and take time to appreciate the things that really matter. Spend quality time with my family and loved ones.

MikeRafone · 09/11/2024 20:04

I’d buy a couple of new push bikes & some decent panniers, a train to Portsmouth and go travelling by bike for a few month

id not tell anyone
id set up a trust for my children & grandchildren

lovelysunshine22 · 09/11/2024 20:05

Buy a big house with lots of land, help out family and friends. I would also donate to good causes. Enjoy having the work pressure taken away x

GandTtwice · 09/11/2024 20:06

Rescue more dogs, donate a big chunk to local rescue charities who actually spend the money on savings/helping animals and then get more dogs

Maybe a bit for my DC too if they're lucky!

MikeRafone · 09/11/2024 20:07

Id not resign from work, suspicious- I’d get the sack so no one guesses

id not buy apartments either, as I’d stay in hotels with suites as big as apartments but room service and all the trimmings to hand

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 09/11/2024 20:07

Quit my job, because trying to work with neurodivergent kids is breaking me.

Deregister the kids from school and pay people to provide a suitable education for them.

Buy a massive massive garden. Yes there will need to be a house attached, as we should live somewhere, but I will spend my days with the plants.

GandTtwice · 09/11/2024 20:08

Needmorelego · 09/11/2024 19:35

Buy my daughter every single colour Jellycat bunny available.
And a house to put said bunnies in.

Surely with a user name like that you'll also be needing an extra room for all the new Lego 😂

TheFormidableMrsC · 09/11/2024 20:08

I would pay off my mortgage and the mortgages of all my lone parent friends. I would buy a new house and let one of my friends who is stuck in emergency accommodation live in my current one with her kids, rent free. I would treat my Dad and stepmum and all my family. I would buy a new car. I would pay off my DD's student loan. I'd make sure both my kids were set up. I'd donate to charities that I care about and also Macmillan who saw me through cancer. These off the top of my head. I forgot to do the lottery tonight 🥴

User122456 · 09/11/2024 20:10

Quit my job. Put loads into some sort of safe-keeping for the kids. Go on a holiday abroad with all the kids.

SweetSakura · 09/11/2024 20:11

Oh I am so sorry Flowers @nomorehocuspocus

I'm just fed up of them going off just as DD is trying to go to sleep, and on random weeknights particularly

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 09/11/2024 20:11

Buy a house, the uncertainty of renting is horrible.

Isthiswhatitlookslike · 09/11/2024 20:13

I've just seen tonight's results. I haven't won!

Needmorelego · 09/11/2024 20:15

@GandTtwice that's true 😂
Infact I will buy a house so big it will have a whole wing for Jellycats, a wing for Lego, another for Sylvanian Families.
All the wings will be connected by a giant Hornby Train set.
Husband can have a shed for his Airfix.
Edit: we'd probably need a Pokémon wing too.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/11/2024 20:16

Not tell anyone. Pay off our mortgage, plus mortgages for my brother and my best friend as anonymously as possible. Keep my job (which I love), but enjoy my days off a lot more.

And I'd really love to go to Japan.

CrispieCake · 09/11/2024 20:21

I would have a good go at replicating male privilege.

I think it would be interesting to work out how much I'd have to spend, and how many people I'd have to employ, until I can reach the stage where my household essentially runs itself without any real input from me apart from the odd bit of "help" at the weekend, I can dip in and out of parenting as I please and work and stay out late whenever I like and my children's wardrobes update magically as they grow. And yes NAMALT and all that but it's enough.

Singleandproud · 09/11/2024 20:23

Already planning which bedroom I'd have, looks amazing 🤩

Buy a detached house in a lovely village. Buy my brother a little house, give some money to my parents. Buy 2 new cars, one for one and one for husband. Give a load of money to the local animal rescue which is really struggling. Give some money to my friend to help her fund private testing/treatment for her 2 suspected autistic kids. Not sure if I’d give up work or not, I quite enjoy it
