Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, in silence. Dd1's up and out on her way to work already, & I got up to make sure she'd had a brew before leaving. Kittens have been fed and gone back to bed after a mad half hour where they knocked down part of the clothes airer...again 🙄

My plan for today is deep clean & declutter the living room. I want to wash the sofa & chair cushions too so the second load of clothes is in the washer before I strip those.

Dd2 got up to watch someone's stream of Adele in Vegas at 4am, so I don't think she'll be up for a while yet. When she is, she has some homework to do for Spanish and History, and wanted to carry on making revision cards for the topics already covered.

I'm not sure what's for tea yet - will rummage in the freezer shortly to see. Whatever it is, will probably be accompanied by a glass of wine for me.

Tonight I need to finish the body of the crochet sausage dog I've been making and then make a start on assembling it, and the pug I made, so they can go to school on Monday.

What about all of you? 🙂

Love the sound of the crochet dogs.

I have a load of towels washing and that's the last in my washing basket so I'm ahead for the weekend!

Ds has football 1 hr 30 min drive away. He won't be starting but still wants to go so that's going to take up most of the day.

The fridge is full so I'll make a decision on dinner later depending on how much patience I have left 😅

Taking DS to football, a 1hr 30 drive away and he will not be starting but still wants to go. That's going to take up most of mIy day.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 09/11/2024 08:34

Morning @lucysmam ! Oh the crochet sausage dog sounds adorable.

DS had a sleepover last night with his grandad, so I'm solo this morning. Just ate leftover Dominos cookies and ice cream - breakfast of champions 😋 Currently binge watching Brooklyn 99 on the sofa and scrolling Etsy for Christmas gifts.

Need to get up and clean the kitchen. Somehow it's a bomb site every Saturday 😬 Then will mess it up again and test run my Christmas gingerbread (I use the same Biscuiteers recipe every year, but I still test run it, just to make sure!) Will obviously listen to Christmas music as this happens.

Not sure what to do this afternoon. DS has been asking to go to a museum so we might head to the Maritime Museum (living near London has its perks!) and run off some energy in Greenwich Park. Will get a mint white hot chocolate from Starbucks (current obsession) at some point to warm up 😋

Will have something healthy for dinner to offset all the sugar I have planned 😂 Maybe roasted veggies with quinoa?

Safxxx · 09/11/2024 08:42

Good morning, Saturdays are mainly tackling the laundry and ironing, cleaning and cooking and some top up shopping. Have a lovely weekend everyone ❤️

ssd · 09/11/2024 09:23

Still in bed, dh full of the cold next to me, no doubt I'll have it soon too!!

lucysmam · 09/11/2024 09:28

Urgh @ssd I'm half expecting to come home with a vomiting bug in the next week after we sent several children home sick yesterday 🤢Hopefully dh doesn't share his germs!

Good morning @lucysmam and mumsnet. I'm off to twickenham to watch the England v Australia rugby today with Dh and ds2 so I'm just having some breakfast then it'll be time to head to the train station.

I did get up early and bake a Victoria sponge as it's ds1's favourite. He's back from visiting his gf at uni tomorrow before he heads back himself - he's been home for his reading week this week, mostly lolloping around the house recovering from freshers flu!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 09/11/2024 09:37

Good morning Lucysmam and others. It feels very raw here today. I like the sound of your crocheted sausage dog. I have never learned how to crochet.
Today I'm out shortly for second breakfast with a friend. We will put the world to rights then I'll drive her home. Afterwards I will go to Tesco for a new blender and bits and pieces. I'm sleeping the fruit today ready to make mini Christmas puddings with my grandsons tomorrow morning. The rest of the day will be housework and washing. The whites are nearly done already. Have a good day all

JMAngel1 · 09/11/2024 09:44

Morning @lucysmam and everyone.
I’m feeling very Christmassy as I’m back in bed reading Nigel
Slater Christmas Chronicles with a cappuccino.
Will have to get up soon to have a laundry tidy and then take DD2 to football (boooo! It’s a 1 hour round trip which is frankly ridiculous for a local league but hey ho).
Then have to pick up DD1 from a sleepover, back to ours so DD2 can shower then off to my dad’s for a visit.
Back home for pizza - no wine for me tonight. I’m trying to abstain until Dec hits when I have so many nights out planned, I fear for my liver. Feel
so much better for not drinking a drop for 3 weeks - even one glass of wine can make me feel so sluggish the next day these days - the joys of menopause!

TotallyKerplunked · 09/11/2024 09:47

DS2 had loads of Lego for his birthday this week so been helping him with that and then hopefully making flapjacks with DD later.

Procrastinating on housework but really need to get uniforms cleaned.

DS1 won't surface until lunchtime and in return for letting him have a lie in he'll walk the dog so no reason for me to go out in the cold today.

Pollypoorly · 09/11/2024 09:49

@lucysmam as the name suggests I've been poorly all week. Feel a bit better today but that might be the lack of guilt at being in bed now it's weekend. I've felt so worried about being off work !
I need a crochet sausage dog. I would love a kit as a gift so might search for one.
Today DS1 is job hunting for Christmas work , DS2 is playing rugby and I'm just sitting here feeling like a wheezy sloth ! Two coffees consumed. Laundry everywhere as nobody does stuff when mum is ill and the kitchen was like Armageddon last night. Might sort an online shop and fold some laundry then a nap

VioletIndigoBlueGreen · 09/11/2024 09:50

Morning everyone! We have a sunny ish day here and so I plan to do some garden jobs before our final garden bin collection of the season next week. I need to rake some leaves and construct some kind of protective structure round some fragile plants before the frosts arrive.

DS is at a wind band rehearsal this morning, then he and DH are both in an orchestra rehearsal this afternoon for a local concert that I'll go and watch this evening.

While they are out this afternoon, I'll walk the dog, zoom my parents for our weekly chat, and maybe watch a crappy Christmas movie.

Webbb · 09/11/2024 09:50

Good morning @lucysmam and all, the best thread of the week! I always read all the replies (both days) and get inspired for my own days. I like following the lives of strangers it seems.

I'm still in bed with my laptop, being very lazy. DW is out walking the dogs and we'll have breakfast in bed when she's back before showers and starting the day. We're taking Grandma out for shopping and lunch today- she's 90 so feeling very grateful she's still able enough. Dinner will be a Gousto meal of butternut squash dahl and rice.

Pollypoorly · 09/11/2024 09:51

@Webbb we had that dhal earlier in the week. Made my me despite being poorly and it was delicious. You're in for a treat. I didn't do the cardamom rice though. Just a micro packet !

Decafflatteplease · 09/11/2024 09:52

Morning @lucysmam and all!

I'm so pleased it's the weekend! Slow morning here as per usual on a weekend, little DC are up and playing, teens are still in bed.

Not sure of our plans for today. Might pop to the shops as we need some storage boxes and bedding. Also need to pick up some vinted parcels and post some more.

Also there's the usual uniform wash to do etc.

Pizza wedges coleslaw for dinner here nice and easy.

Wine and TV with DH later when children asleep.

socks1107 · 09/11/2024 09:54

I'm going to unpack from a few lovely days away. I deep cleaned and de cluttered everywhere before we went so plan on a nice dinner, few wines later and get mentally ready for back to work on Monday!

Changingplace · 09/11/2024 10:00

Currently still in bed drinking tea, today I’m going to a big wardrobe sort out in advance of getting new wardrobes so I’m going to pull everything out and have a big old declutter then take stuff to the charity shop or put stuff on Vinted.

Webbb · 09/11/2024 10:01

Ooh great! Thank you. I hate cardamon so will leave those out. Hope you're feeling better :)

@Decafflatteplease Homebase have offers on the 'really useful box'. I got the massive ones 2 for £40.

RabbitsRock · 09/11/2024 10:03

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone - been up since 7 as dropped DD15 at the station to go & meet her GF. Been a shed load of drama lately so hoping their weekend goes ok. DD isn’t back until Monday as they’re going to see Conan Gray in London tomorrow night. DH made me a cuppa when I came downstairs & I’m just making a 2nd whilst enjoying the peace. Popped to Aldi for a few bits on my way home, including steak & gravy pies for tomorrow’s tea. Working this afternoon then popping to Tesco to get filled pasta & a tub of tomato & basil sauce for DH’s meal tonight . I’m having salmon en croute but he’s not a big fish fan. Will have steamed broccoli with it. Dishwasher on & I’m gradually adding to the load in the washing machine. We’re planning to set at least a day aside to blitz the house before the decorations go up. Oh & I have a voucher for the store where I work which Management gave us all last Christmas so I’m going to look at snowglobes because I’m obsessed! Need recommendations for a series we can get into tonight on Disney Plus or Netflix as we’ve caught up with Greys Anatomy. DH doesn’t like psychological thrillers or anything where you have to think too much! Might have my last AF Heineken at some point.

Dirtydancing1 · 09/11/2024 10:03

Morning all, my favourite thread of the week, I enjoy reading what everyone else is up to.
I have been ill the last few days, so the house seems to be a mess.
I've had a couple of coffees and a bacon sandwich in bed.
Washed all the school clothes.
DH has taken the DC to see his parents, they won't be back until late afternoon.
I'm going to use this time to get the house cleaned and back in order, it will make me feel better having a tidy and clean house.
The cat is watching birds out the window.
I think it will be an early night for me tonight as I'm still not feeling completely well

Hedjwitch · 09/11/2024 10:05

Morning all
Still in bed here. DH working today so got a glorious day to myself. Have a stint selling poppies from 12 till 2 then into town to look for a camera for DD1 for Christmas. Might bake the Christmas cake tonight.

PermanentTemporary · 09/11/2024 10:09

Morning all! Ooh, Christmas cake. Lots of difficult family news this week but the silver lining has been visiting people, it's in fact been really nice to connect. Am in transit between two visits. Sitting with a coffee as the fast charge happens and bought some nice biscuits to take for my father in law. Then home tonight and it will be lovely to see dp as I've been away since Wednesday. Maybe something extremely simple for dinner like baked potatoes.

dontforgetme · 09/11/2024 10:11

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

Have had 2 cuppas and put a wash load in the machine. Am currently lying on the sofa scrolling on here, dd at a sleepover and oh and ds upstairs on the PlayStation. Things are a little shit between him and I at the moment so we have been keeping out of each others way. We're supposed to be out with friends tonight but not sure I can be bothered!

Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday!

devildeepbluesea · 09/11/2024 10:11

Morning all. I’m on a little mini break in South Devon with DSis and the dogs. We’re a little jaded today after watching Ire v NZ in the pub last night, but I’ve taken the dogs for a run on the beach and been to the shop. Back to bed for a nap now methinks.

Later it’ll be a long walk, then off to the pub again to do the cryptic crossword and watch more rugby.

Andtheworldwentwhite · 09/11/2024 10:20

Been to the gym. Been to Aldi. Now home having breakfast. Am going to clear out the freezer and maybe do some washing.

how I cope with my exciting life sometimes is baffling.

mechanicalpencil · 09/11/2024 10:28

Happy Saturday all
Hope all the poorly people manage to get enough rest this weekend.
I’ll be joining you as yet another migraine here.
