Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, in silence. Dd1's up and out on her way to work already, & I got up to make sure she'd had a brew before leaving. Kittens have been fed and gone back to bed after a mad half hour where they knocked down part of the clothes airer...again 🙄

My plan for today is deep clean & declutter the living room. I want to wash the sofa & chair cushions too so the second load of clothes is in the washer before I strip those.

Dd2 got up to watch someone's stream of Adele in Vegas at 4am, so I don't think she'll be up for a while yet. When she is, she has some homework to do for Spanish and History, and wanted to carry on making revision cards for the topics already covered.

I'm not sure what's for tea yet - will rummage in the freezer shortly to see. Whatever it is, will probably be accompanied by a glass of wine for me.

Tonight I need to finish the body of the crochet sausage dog I've been making and then make a start on assembling it, and the pug I made, so they can go to school on Monday.

What about all of you? 🙂

Slept late so just enjoying my first sacred cup of coffee. It's grey and chilly here so just taking it easy. But after my 2nd cup I need to shower and pack a weekend bag because DH and I are heading to Salford later to see Frank Skinner. We're going to have a leisurely drive up there, stopping for a pub lunch on the way.

After the show we're having a late supper then we're booked into a nice hotel. We're celebrating 33 years together since we met at university.

Good morning @lucysmam . It was my birthday yesterday and my baby and her baby came down to visit for a long weekend, arriving on Thursday evening. It has been lovely! only marred by my bloomin bad health!

I was woken at 05:10 this morning by the toddler realising he wasn't in his own bed and reacting angrily 😁. He went almost straight back to sleep, but I realised I had woken up with palpitations (atrial fibrillation) which haven't left me yet. I need a shower desperately, and I have the rest of the family coming round for birthday lunch today. My DH is cooking slow roast pork, which we are having with bread rolls, home made apple sauce and home-made coleslaw, followed by birthday cake also made by DH.

I'm not steady enough on my feet to go for a shower yet. I get palpitations quite a lot so I'm used to dealing with them and they usually just go away.... I'm leaving it another hour then I will take another dose of heart meds if I am still unwell. That should get me through lunch. Then if I'm still unwell after lunch it will be a call to 111 who will tell me to go to ED, where I will sit being monitored for a few hours, or more, without anything being done, until it goes away on its own. Told you I am used to this!

Worst case scenario is that it doesnt go away and I have to be admitted for a few days whilst they discuss whether I need cardioversion. I've never had it yet and on one occasion I was in hospital for a week! Hence my not wanting to go to ED before my birthday lunch.

So - I'm not doing anything useful today. I'm still hoping to have a shower before everyone arrives. DH is cooking. We won't need much for our evening meal, which will probably be leftovers anyway. My baby and her baby are going out for a bit after lunch - I was given a little 3-wheeler scooter for the toddler last week so I think they might take that to the park. Nothing planned for tomorrow - as things are going I might be in hospital anyway! I've already given my DH instructions on packing me up a sandwich and some snacks. Our ED are wonderful (I have to say that as I work for the hospital) and there will be sandwiches available if I am there for a long time but, quite frankly, a slice of mild cheese in wholemeal bread doesn't do it for me 😁. And I always have to take my own tea and coffee anyway as they never have decaff.

Natsku · 09/11/2024 10:50

I'm at a 'virtual rally' (a rally driven on simulators) as the company I work for is competing so I've come along to cheer on my collegues.

DD is at a volleyball match day somewhere far away, hopefully that goes well, they haven't won any games yet this season.

OH and DS are at his band practice space, DS has his own little room to play the drums there while dad practices in the big room.

No idea what I'm doing later, maybe make a cake for my lunches next week

PurpleTinsel555 · 09/11/2024 11:03

Good morning everyone! My favourite thread.

Had a lovely long snooze this morning with DP and all three cats, and the rest of the day is shaping up to be just as lazy. Heading to the market soon to get this week’s flowers and a baguette, then will keep the laundry rotating as Christmas films play in the background.

Chilli cheese chips for lunch, then DP will head out to a gig and I’ll bake a Camembert for tea and open a bottle of wine. I’m nearly at the end of my book, so I’ll finish that and start something new. I can feel myself entering hibernation mode!

Trying to survive the day with a teething baby who refuses to take her bottles ... send help

Tarkan · 09/11/2024 11:37

I didn't fall asleep until around 5am then DH woke me at 8 as he was just home from work and he'd brought me a Greggs roll and sausage with brown sauce and a coffee home for my breakfast.

So I had that and went back to bed for a couple of hours, woke up after having a dream where I was clearing cobwebs and disturbed a nest so lots of baby spiders rained down on me so that was me up for the day. 🙈

Right now I'm chilling on the sofa with a cup of tea, one of our dogs is snoozing away on the other end of the sofa on his blanket. Eldest DC is away meeting friends in Glasgow (2 hours away from us) today and youngest DC is chilling in bed with our other dog.

I need to go to the post office but I'm currently debating if it can just wait until Monday and I have a chill out day at home today. I do have a new book (the Hoof GP one) that I've been reading so that and a fluffy blanket sounds like a lovely plan right now.

PandaChopChop · 09/11/2024 12:22

Afternoon everyone 😊
It's been a really horrendous week here with bereavement, work trouble and weird goings on in the house.
I was woken by DS early this morning who wanted to get in my bed and watch tv. At some stage I must have fallen back to sleep because the next time I woke up he had been replaced by DD 😆
We've had cups of tea and sandwiches, DC have done some homework. Relative has been round with ladders to investigate weird goings on and there is no sign of murderers or rats- so it looks like we have a friendly ghost!

I've hoovered all of downstairs, having another cuppa and then I'm going to hang some pictures, and we've all got to get ready to get DDs friend who is sleeping over. We're off to see fireworks at DCs school later with some friends so that will be good.

I'm going to raise a small glass to my dear friend tonight and probably have yet another cry, and then tomorrow I'm going to try and get prepped for upcoming job interview. DC have already agreed they are going to sit in their new onesies tomorrow in front of films. Can't wait!

Been there lovely sending you the biggest cup of caffeine and cake the size of a dinner plate. Xx

RevelryMum · 09/11/2024 12:35

@Tarnishedbutton thank you both needed lol

frozendaisy · 09/11/2024 12:51

Having Sunday (homework chores roast) today.

And Saturday tomorrow.

So won't know what day it is all next week!

CoastalCalm · 09/11/2024 13:03

Home from having extensive open hysterectomy for possible OC - in more pain than I imagined so husband is having to care for me which I am secretly really enjoying , he’s currently flower arranging a bouquet received from work and making me a bounty hot chocolate before I get loaded up on oramorph again and go to bed 🤣

Thislittlekitten · 09/11/2024 13:06

Sorry late to the party.

Had a busy morning. Up and about early. Had breakfast in town and some shopping done. Town itself was quite quiet.

Nosed around markies and bought food for tea. About to take the dog out for a walk.

We have friends popping by tonight so have cleaned the living room. Hoping for a cheeky 1/2 hour nap at some point as I’m super tired.

daffodilandtulip · 09/11/2024 13:18

It's afternoon already! This morning I took some Vinted parcels to the locker whilst walking the dog, then came back along the old railway so she could have a run.

Then I've started on some Christmas resin resources for work. I've just had a smoothie and will read my book for an hour before I do the top coat.

Fajitas for tea with DS and watch the Remembrance later.

WillimNot · 09/11/2024 13:22

I've been to a pop up designer sale at the charity shop across the road from my pub. Cleaned the pub and then the local paper turned up to photograph me and the pub because I've put Remembrance banners up. I wish I'd known they were coming Id have done me hair a bit better 😂

Saturday so we will be busy later on with the regulars who play pool and darts. Will probably go to bed at 1.30am by I have leftover curry for tea so that's good

Pollypoorly · 09/11/2024 13:51

@CoastalCalm you deserve all the looking after. Rest up lovely

Iamnotaloggrip · 09/11/2024 13:55

I’ve just finished a massive clean and tidy of the house and very relieved it’s all done. Kids are upstairs on the computer - I’m torn between enforcing the screen time rules and enjoying the peace and quiet! DP will do a tip run then I’ll make chicken pie for dinner. Telly and wine tonight.

MessyNeate · 09/11/2024 14:01

I love reading these threads @lucysmam

Also home alone today, both DS's (13 and 17) have gone to Thorpe park with their dad (ex DH)

DH is away at sea today and has head back out after being in port in Norway for a few days, he's been gone 3 weeks. Another 9 to go.

DDog is sulking because I won't let him on the bed.

I've woken up feeling full of cold today so after doing all my tidying yesterday I'm having a day of nothing. I have put one load of washing in and will do the last, I'm currently binge watching Ambulance on iPlayer and it's making me want to career change from nurse to paramedic! Only thing that puts me off is the studying Grin

I'm thinking of having a Chinese tonight, hot bubble bath and an early night as I was up all night coughing last night, luckily I'm on a run of 8 days off (midway though) I will also need to take DDog for a little walk later, he can't walk far anymore

Katherineryan1986 · 09/11/2024 14:54

Well the day is half way over now.

I walked the dogs and cleared the kitchen and utility room in prep for decorating. Meanwhile DH went to the supermarket and did the big shop.

Together we cleaned the kitchen and utility and then emulsioned the ceiling (argh my shoulders) and have done the walls. It's the same colour as before, just needed freshening up. DH made egg and bacon baps for lunch 😋

Tomorrow Dh will do the glossing while the dogs and I veg in the sitting room and I hope to get on with crocheting a blanket and a rabbit for my best friend's 1st grandchild who is due in the new year.

Chelsea26 · 09/11/2024 15:17

Afternoon all - where’s the day gone?

I got up and took DS1 to football training and then picked him up and dropped him to golf.

Popped into Aldi on the way back for wine, beer and flowers as we are on our way to visit some new friends we met on holiday in Turkey this summer (wasn’t the best holiday as I broke my ankle three days in but these guys came out of it so not all bad!!)

I think the plan is dinner and then a local comedy night so should be good fun.

DilemmaDelilah · 09/11/2024 16:40

An update on my day... my DH made us all the most delicious lunch and it was lovely to have all my family there. However .... my heart was still playing up so I did the usual call to 111 who sent me to the ED, as I had expected. It's horrendously busy today, so apart from a brief triage and an ECG I have been sitting here in the waiting room for about two hours, maybe a little longer. I am anticipating another hour or two in the waiting room, after which I will either be taken in for monitoring or sent home. I'm not complaining - there is absolutely no space in ED at all and I'm obviously not about to pop my clogs, which is good! Eventually I will get home and I'm very much looking forward to going to bed with a nice hot water bottle.

jellybe · 09/11/2024 16:48

Bit late but:
Had a second viewing on our house with our buyers so got everything crossed that things will progress smoothly.
DH took DD to look at a local college which she has come back from super excited about.
DS1 and DS2 have spent the afternoon playing board games with me and now I'm getting ready to go out for the evening with DH.
All in all a good day.

Crunchymum · 09/11/2024 18:09

Extra late to the thread today.

Just home after a hectic day. Swimming for all DC this morning. Then off to change library books.

DC1 went off for a friend's birthday (crazy golf and Nando's). DC3 went off to a different party (church hall, bouncy castle, children's entertainer.... was an epic 3 hours). I then had to make a mad dash to meet DC1 and drop DC2 to the 3rd party of the day (cinema and Waga's and then a sleep over 😮)

I've not stopped. Thankfully DP isn't working tomorrow so he can collect DC2 and manage yet another party for DC3.

Am ordering a Paid Thai for dinner and the kids who are here have agreed on Cars 2 before bed.

AgileGreenSeal · 09/11/2024 18:19
dolphins GIF

A swim in the sea followed by a relaxing day by myself (with a little washing / ironing thrown in). A nice glass of Guinness and some more relaxing before an early night in a cosy bed. Swimming again in the morning. I’ve heard dolphins have been sighted so hoping to see some.

OldTinHat · 09/11/2024 18:39

Well, obviously, the day is almost over now! But I shall fill you in...

Dog walking, shopping, more walking, breakfast at a pub with my friend...and here it ends. Breakfast had a choice of normal or mega. I wanted the normal but with fried bread and black pudding which would have been an extra £3. The mega breakfast was only £2 extra including those and double everything else.

Every time I move something on my plate, a pile of new things emerged! It was never ending! It was quite magnificent.

I managed half a sausage, the black pudding and fried bread, half a tomato and some beans. The double eggs, toast, hash browns, mushrooms and bacon were abandoned.

It didn't help that I was feeling a bit unwell. Two trips to the loo (after the four I'd already made before leaving the house), made me realise that two packs of fresh pineapple and a carton of pineapple and coconut juice in the previous two days was not a good idea...

Decafflatteplease · 09/11/2024 19:44

How are you feeling now @DilemmaDelilah
