Which is the best ready made lasagne in your opinion. I want to compile a spreadsheet and rank them

Lidl the more expensive range one

I didn't know they did two ranges. This is going to make the experiment longer

Charlie Bigham definitely.

M&S Best Ever.

DS has already undertaken this research, OP so we can definitively answer this question.

Ah I shall stand on the shoulders of giants. At the rate of one lasagne a fortnight it could take a while

We also like Lidl I’m glad we are not the only ones. We find there is so much sauce so we get a small one and bulk it out with extra plain penne and steamed green vegetables (usually broccoli or green beans).

Cuppachuchu · 04/11/2024 17:42

I've had the Lidl and M&S ones and liked them both.
There's a recipe I've seen lately for "casual" lasagne done in either a slow cooker or casserole dish. Bit less of a faff to make, but not sure it would be as good.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 04/11/2024 17:43

Are you creating a separate sheet for the veggie ones? If so the Cook one! And if not I've just found out what I'll be doing this winter...

nfkl · 04/11/2024 17:44

If you live near a Prezzemolo and Vitale Italian Deli (a few around London), they sell the most perfect homemade lasagna for £7.5 (Charlie Bingham at my local supermarket costs £8.75 and doesn’t even come close)

showmethegin · 04/11/2024 17:44

Charlie bighams vegetarian one. Meat eating DH absolutely loves it too. It's like a really rich lentil ragu.

Absolutely agree the veggie Cook one is delicious! Cook in general wins all ready meals for me. I don’t get the Charlie Bigham love, the portion sizes are far too small imo! 🤣

Could you take on the veggie ones? I think this might be a divide and conquer thing

I didn't realise normal lasagne was formal!

M&S The Best (is that the fancy one? The fancy one!)

I agree it's M&S - there's a Gastropub one which is the best I've tasted.

Ooh not seen this one where do I get this?

Iceland!

It's lovely and there's so much bechamel sauce.

Some ready mades scrimp on the sauce!

Purplepumkins · 04/11/2024 17:55

The Cook one without a doubt!

OH likes Charlie Bigham’s! (Almost as much as my homemade one 😱)

NigelHarmansNewWife · 04/11/2024 17:58

Anything with white sauce from Tesco tends to be gloopy imho, even their Finest range.

Lasagne is now of those meals that takes ages from scratch, but is fine if you've got the bolognese/ragu in the freezer.

GreenFrogPinkFrog · 04/11/2024 17:59

Cook or Charlie Bigham

I used to make a lazy baked pasta version where you put your bolognaise ragu into a tallish casserole and push uncooked cannelloni tubes down vertically into the ragu - think Sellafield nuclear fuel rod style - then pile your cheese sauce on top. That would probably work well in a slow cooker, although the top wouldn’t be crispy.

GreenFrogPinkFrog · 04/11/2024 18:00

DH says Co Op finest range
