Badenoch leader. How long will this last?

They've stitched up their constitution to prevent a challenge for a year (?). Which seems a recipe for a year long internecine briefing war between the leader and the "we want to be like Reform" factions. Neither of whom has the backing of at least 25 MPs.

They will be like a fly in the room of life - generating an irritating amount of (media) noise whilst never being able to escape the room.

Some stats:

131,680 eligible voters.
72% voted.
655 rejected ballots
Badenoch: 53806
Jenrick: 41000 (didn’t catch the exact number).

131,680 is that total membership then?

Looks like it. It’s a decisive win anyway. I’d rather it was her than Jenrick if it had to be either.

How much is membership a year ?

You could buy the Tory party for a few million. If Putin felt like selling.

I'd love to know what the 655 'rejected ballots' said!

Decisive ? It's not even 52:48.

I'd love to know what the 655 'rejected ballots' said!

Apparently 45 people voted for both candidates.

It’s decisive in Tory terms, it’s six times more than my Tory MP’s majority!

BustingBaoBun · 02/11/2024 11:23

This is really funny! The gritted teeth of Jenrick and his wife.

Robert Jenrick's wife thought she had applauded Kemi Badenoch enough 😅

Mrs Jenrick’s eye roll! 😂

Notonthestairs · 02/11/2024 11:25

That's very funny.

SerendipityJane · 02/11/2024 11:27

Maybe Jenrick will reflect on his misogynistic comments (and presumably the mindset that generated them) and realise they were unacceptable and will certainly have influenced some voters.

Or he might blame everyone else but himself and talk about a wokarati (sp ?) at the heart of politics.

I know where my money would go.

Notonthestairs · 02/11/2024 11:27

Well the stage is set for a gaffe free, misunderstanding free, 18 months.

Im sure all of us with economically advantaged disabled kids will be thrilled. At least I won't be crippling business with any further maternity pay.

I'm glad someone else has that thought!!!

cardibach · 02/11/2024 11:47

Blimey Mrs. j doesn’t look happy. Kemi needs to check her shoulder blades for a knife. And hire a food taster pronto.

BustingBaoBun · 02/11/2024 11:49

We're on a roll Duncin, great minds think alike 😂

I just love Jenrick's wife thinking... oh hell, I've got to start clapping again!

the80sweregreat · 02/11/2024 12:02

Mrs Jenrick was practically rolling her eyes today ! I found that amusing

the80sweregreat · 02/11/2024 12:03

Did she roll her eyes then ! Missed that , but she didn't look too happy

Notonthestairs · 02/11/2024 12:22

I really like her reaction - I like an expressive face. It's almost a goofy response. And let's face it nobody enjoys the bit after you lose!

PickAChew · 02/11/2024 12:24

Mrs Jenrick looks to be already plotting how to convince people that the butler did it.

RafaistheKingofClay · 02/11/2024 12:36

Congratulations to Kemi for winning the worst person competition. Well deserved.

VimtoVimto · 02/11/2024 14:01

I saw a photo of Mrs Jenrick last week and she looks like central casting’s idea of the wife of a Tory MP.

BIWI · 02/11/2024 14:11

My first thought, on seeing her, was that it was like looking at Michael Palin or Terry Jones, dressed up as women in Monty Python! Here!

She looks like she should be dressed in teal.

Such a shame that her Husband looks like he works in Curry's. She could only ever be an Econowife.
