I'm on holiday and just heard that my Clyde cat, the lovely ginger fool cat has been knocked down and killed.

Awful news for you, so sorry to hear this Flowers Flowers Flowers

Spandauer · 29/10/2024 14:21

Oh god! @Piggywaspushed
What awful news. Poor, poor Clyde cat. There will be many furry friends waiting for him over the bridge. 🌈 🫶

Llttledrummergirl · 29/10/2024 14:21

Oh @Piggywaspushed, I am so so very sorry to hear this. Just know that Clyde would have known how much you love and care for him through his life.

Their little souls bring so much love and joy into our lives. Flowers

So sorry to hear @Piggywaspushed . Poor little mite. Sending love. 😁

Cheguevarahamster · 29/10/2024 15:45

I apologise for the smily face. My phone is going a bit bonkers.

Smoothopera · 29/10/2024 16:04

Sorry to hear of that @Piggywaspushed. Worst nightmare.

For those in Greater Manchester

I can confirm that we plan to stick with a £2 cap on single bus fares for the whole of 2025.

PickAChew · 29/10/2024 16:48

They have bus franchising (the Bee network) down there which would make it easier. Our new north east mayor is keen to do something similar but the reality would be a long way off for us.

SerendipityJane · 29/10/2024 16:58

It's a cap not a target ....

Zonder · 29/10/2024 20:06

So sorry Piggy. Tragic.

Oh piggy I'm so sorry Flowers

I've been to London and back by train today.

Not particularly cheap despite ds disabled persona railcard because we needed to be in London before 10am.

However we can park all day for free at a train station 20 minutes drive away (mines 20 mins walk) due to BB. It's much easier to catch train from this station.

But the biggest difference I found is how much better people are in London transport.

We got on and ds had his wheel chair and crutches and the people sat in priority seating hid their heads in books and phones and tried extremely hard to ignore our existence. Once in London we collapsed his wheelchair and used the elevator (I'm a pro at this 😂) but people couldn't have been more helpful offering to help. As soon as we went onto tube and people saw his chair and crutches they couldn't flee on mass form the priority seats quick enough! (And he only needs one seat and could sit in his chair but it's easier to have it folded as takes up less room and he can sit in a seat.

I found it most illuminating that where public transport is much more the norm people are much better at using it iyswim?

PandoraSox · 29/10/2024 21:06

I see there is now lots of wailing in despair about the NMW increase announcement. It is just unbelievable.

@itsgettingweird a curse on those who pretended not to see you and your DS! Glad you had a better experience in London.

newnamethanks · 29/10/2024 21:46

Horrible news, piggy, am very sorry to see that.

I commute 3 days a week on the tube in central London and much to my dismay am frequently offered a priority seat!

I do always decline and try & convince myself I don’t look that old! 😏

DuncinToffee · 29/10/2024 10:29

Oh no Piggy, so sorry

I'm so, so sorry.

PandoraSox · 30/10/2024 07:03

Morning all. Budget day at last! Will Mumsnet survive the mega-frothing?

@Piggywaspushed I hope you are OK. I know from recent experience how hard the first few days are after losing a beloved cat.💔

cakeorwine · 30/10/2024 07:21

Just remember - if the Conservatives did it, it's good.
Labour do it - bad.

Conservatives increased NMW by 10%. Good
Labour increased NMW by 6.7% Bad

itsgettingweird · 30/10/2024 07:29

Fucking hell. Jenrick right now on GMB is trying to be and sound just like Farage.

He's gonna be dangerous if he gets in unless he promptly disappears like Farage did!

Jenrick had already done "labour have increased bus fares".

itsgettingweird · 30/10/2024 07:35

Oh and henrick repeating Fareages line of we don't know if PM lied to us with regards stabbings but only after Ed Balls basically asked why he's accusing the PM of withholding information as we don't know what he knew.

Notonthestairs · 30/10/2024 07:43

Whoever wins the Conservative leadership election will be full of righteous sound and fury. Shame the patriotic spirit doesn't stretch to our laws, police or justice system.

Amazing what information people think they are owed - the PM (any PM) shouldn't be commenting on ongoing cases - unless they want the case thrown out.

Fully expect half of MN to explode today. Doesn't really matter what's in the Budget. They certainly won't need to wait for the detail.

VimtoVimto · 30/10/2024 08:09

I’m so sorry to hear about Clyde, @Piggywaspushed

At the moment I feel that even if Rachel Reeves announces today that she has found a whole forest of magic money trees the Mail, the Telegraph and all the usual suspects on here would find problems with it.

DuncinToffee · 30/10/2024 08:25

Rachel Reeves replacing the portrait of Nigel Lawson with Ellen Wilkinson has caused froth as well Grin
