Loads as it isn't a very big town at all, I do think we need a Costa though.

GroovyChick87 · 25/10/2024 06:51

I'm sure there's a few but I can't think of any. We seem to have everything.

DanielaDressen · 25/10/2024 06:54

I’m always surprised for a city with a big student population we don’t have a Zara.

TemporaryName123 · 25/10/2024 06:55

We are Northern Ireland so no Waitrose, John Lewis, Morrisons or…Robert Dyas! Odd the things you miss when you move from England!!

Oneearringlost · 25/10/2024 07:00

Asda, Aldi, Morrisons, Sainsbury's. Until recently, only Tesco did online delivery, I think Waitrose does now.
We're 8 miles outside town but no, no deliveroo, Uber, takeaway deliveries at all.
We used to have a small M&S but that's gone.
No HSBC bank.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 25/10/2024 07:01

No Super Drug. We did have one but the bastards changed it to a Savers.

Seymour5 · 25/10/2024 07:04

I live in a large city, but moved here from a nearby town. It no longer has an M&S. It had one in the town centre, and one in a large retail park. Both have closed.

Desw · 25/10/2024 07:05

Asda, m&s, Waterstones any fast food chain, we don’t have a McDonald’s, Burger King, Subway, Pizza Hut etc which sucks 😂

Crazyeight · 25/10/2024 07:08

We seem to have gone from a vibrant high street to vape shops, mobile phone repair shops, nail bars and bubble tea.

All the remaining shops don't seem to stock anything. Apparently they can order in stock for you (hint: so can I, it's called online shopping)

Girasoli · 25/10/2024 07:11

I'd like another department store (we only have M&S) and a UNIQLO. I'd also like a Wilko's.

RampantIvy · 25/10/2024 07:14

M and S (it closed last year)
Sainsburys
Waitrose

The nearest city lost John Lewis a few years ago Sad

lololulu · 25/10/2024 07:28

Sephora

Yirk · 25/10/2024 07:30

M/S ...closed down and the food hall.
Primark,
Superdrug
Our high street has gone, we have a Morrisons and small Tesco

Sethera · 25/10/2024 07:33

I think it would be quicker to list what we do have 😁

FergusSingsTheBIues · 25/10/2024 07:35

We don’t have a Waitrose which is ludicrous, we are in a well heeled town in the north west crammed full of posh old folk - but no. Nearest Waitrose is 30 mins away!!!

Ophy83 · 25/10/2024 07:35

Another dwindling high street... we used to have Debenhams, M&S, H&M, a fantastic deli, John Lewis home, Waterstones, wilkos, body shop. All gone. Most shops standing empty.

MegaClutterSlut · 25/10/2024 07:37

No morrisons, home bargains, waitrose, wilko that I can think of right now. Our m&s is closing next month

MerlotMisery · 25/10/2024 07:37

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 25/10/2024 07:01

No Super Drug. We did have one but the bastards changed it to a Savers.

What! Savers is such a great shop. Candles, toothpaste, razors, Sanatogen, everything. So much cheaper than Boots etc.

taxguru · 25/10/2024 07:43

M&S
Any bank
Mc Donalds
Starbucks
Next
Tesco

We've basically nothing but charity shops and money launderers. Used to be a vibrant seaside resort with M&S, Woolworths, Littlewoods, loads of independents, Tesco, Co Op, etc etc. All gone!

Same.

It's such a shame. I still love to go to town to have a nice look round the shops and a scone in M&S but I end up actually buying things online.

Beezknees · 25/10/2024 07:47

We don't have a Starbucks, but we do have a Costa.

We have plenty of major supermarkets - I think the only one we don't have is M&S but there is one at a retail park only a 10 minute drive away. Lots of fast food chains, charity shops.

There are no decent clothes shops. We only have a Peacocks and Bon Marche.

TheChosenTwo · 25/10/2024 07:47

Haha @Sethera - same!
similar to another poster and possibly lots more, our vibrant town has slowly been replaced by vape shops, betting shops, phone repair places, ethnic supermarkets (which are actually brilliant but I only ever go in for a couple of things so never spending a huge amount there), nail bars etc.
The concept of a high street is quite old fashioned I think. Most families now have 2 working adults or in the case of a single person raising a family the adult works. Which leaves less time than we maybe had 40 years ago where one person (the ‘mum’) would be at home and have the time to go shopping daily to get the household essentials. The shopping model is now for convenience, online. Like a lot of offices have now downsized or ceased to exist as so much can be done online, shops have gone the same way.

BigDahliaFan · 25/10/2024 07:48

Waitrose. We had one briefly as a franchise in another shop, but no one else in my town understood it. How much? How much?

Apollo365 · 25/10/2024 07:50

Primark, Waitrose, Dunelm

craftysnake · 25/10/2024 07:51

No M&S??? Jesus
