Please can you talk to me about Marian Keyes?

I am half way through my first Marian Keyes novel courtesy of the freebies on Audible. She is not an author I have considered before, but I am loving it. I wonder if any one would like to discuss Brightest Star in the Sky. I don’t mind spoilers. In particular, did you have a favourite character?

I love Marian Keyes but the (now middle-aged) Walsh sisters really annoy me. Spoilt brats who haven't grown up. Honestly, if you saw one of them coming towards you, you'd cross the street to avoid them!
However, I do like the longer, more serious novels of recent years (I think The Break was mentioned earlier) - something to get my teeth into, about people who feel "real".

I feel the complete opposite, I'd love to be friends with a Walsh sister. They come across as caring and hysterically funny to me and I loved the sequel books about Rachel and Anna that have been released over the last couple of years.
I feel like I've grown up with these characters and was over the moon when Luke and Joey were brought back to life.
I really hope it comes across as good on screen.

No, that's Carrie Crowley, who would definitely not be cast as the sister of the other actresses -- their mother, maybe, though she's far too good.

The actor playing Luke is the brother of Keith Duffy from Boyzone.. I've always pictured Luke very differently from this. I think the Walsh Sisters are a perfect looking cast. I am really looking forward to this!

Also, AIDAN QUINN as the dad. All kinds of wrong.

Totally agree. And also random designer items. The Walsh family are not poor but they appear to be dripping in Balenceiga and other labels!!

Holy Christ you are right, I'd always pictured Luke a lot more rough around the edges. I can't actually remember how the books describe him but I was picturing the sort of guy who looks like he could build a house with his bare hands., This guy looks like abit of a feathery stroker 😂

I like her podcast on bbc sounds. Have you listened to that?

Marian Keyes once said in her head Luke looked a bit like Richie Sambora from Bon Jovi 😂

Luke doesn’t look right at all but the others are all fine. Mammy Walsh looks a bit younger than I pictured her but I suppose she’d only have been in her 50s at the start of the series!

Are they going to do one episode per book? None of the books overlap in time, so would be weird if it was all happening together.

I always picture Luke as Ritchie Sambora as well, will have to wait to see how the actor is styled before I pass judgement. Can’t really tell based on his headshot.

I read Rachel’s holiday years ago and have read a few of her other books but am now reading my favourite mistake. Should I quit before I get too far in (it’s already fab on page 90) and read them in order?
