@Gatekeeper I too will be calling in the Ripon branch on my way to Fountains Abbey floodlight event, hopefully they still have some left next weekend.
Do love a festive trip to Booths for mince pies and cheese.

Summerhillsquare · 12/10/2024 14:55

Anyone up for a charabanc from the north east 🤣

RainbowZebraWarrior · 12/10/2024 14:56

2 hours drive for me too. I've spent the past 20 years willing them to come to Newcastle.

Oooh is it good? My closest is Knutsford but never been - am I missing out? How does it compare to M&S or Waitrose?

Similar or better imo. No self scan if that bothers you.

Touloosia · 12/10/2024 15:03

I miss Booths!!

I grew up near the Knutsford one. We used to go and buy a picnic to eat at Tatton.

Enjoy you lucky northerners.

Blarn · 12/10/2024 15:08

Oooo, I'm very jealous. I live in Birmingham, the forgotten middle wasteland where we are considered Northern by anyone in the South but we are clearly not Northern enough for Booths.

Sadly not all of the North. Our nearest is an hour away in Ripon.

You're lucky! I'm over near Pickering and Ripon is our nearest but just...too...far...

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 12/10/2024 15:19

Ooh just the excuse I need! DS used to cal it the Christmas shop when he was little as we’re too poor to shop there regularly 😂.

Getonwitit · 12/10/2024 15:23

Figment1982 · 12/10/2024 14:50

Only 157 miles to my closest one 😭

170 to my closet but i have close family 20 minutes away so i visit the first weekend in December to do a Booths shop. I go by train and take 2 large suitcases to fill with goodies and gifts.

Delphiniumandlupins · 12/10/2024 15:47

I miss having family in the north-west. Didn't even shop in Booths that often but their Christmas catalogue... Perhaps someone will post a few pictures?

ohidoliketobe · 12/10/2024 15:51

Ohhh yesss - I thought it was next week! Little detour tomorrow around the kids sports club drop offs!

NC500500500 · 12/10/2024 15:57

The book is online, better for the planet.

I can walk to a Booths from my house, 0.4 miles, but shop at Waitrose and M&S in the main. It’s just another shop. I only go there because it shuts at 10pm if I need something late.

Things I like include the fishmonger, there’s loads of local butchers here so I don’t bother with the butcher’s counter, booze section is good, tea selection. Nice cordials. Not much I’d go out of my way for.

As a southerner who has never lived further north than Lewisham can I just say - wow!Shock

LancashireSquirrel · 12/10/2024 16:13

Sat browsing it as we speak!

TheNortherner · 12/10/2024 16:17

Ahhh Booths and Bents the total Xmas experience, miss it. Have been known to drive several hundred miles to see family go to these

ByTealShaker · 12/10/2024 16:19

You mean North Westerners. Haven’t come across a Booth’s in all my life. Looks nice though.

PiggieWig · 12/10/2024 16:21

Oh nice! I need to do a booze run this afternoon. Might as well make it a Booths run!

I’m not north west, they have branches in Yorkshire.

Yorkshire’s a big old place. I’m out east, none near here unfortunately. Just farmland and massive prison and…Hull.

NC500500500 · 12/10/2024 16:33

I’d struggle to live in the East Riding @ByTealShaker . It feels like a long way from everywhere. My old BF went to Hull Poly back in the day so I spent a fair bit of time there.

Spent my twenties in Sheffield and grew up near Harrogate, so had the grand tour. We’re nearer York to be fair, but not as many amenities here.

specialsauce · 12/10/2024 16:40

Blimey I'm in the south so never heard of Booths but just flicked through that catalogue and it all looks amazing!
Quite glad it's 250 miles to my nearest as I'd be fat as a planet if I had one near me.
That cheesy tearable Christmas tree looks like heaven.

jealous.

EnfysHeulenEira · 12/10/2024 16:46

The one in Hale barns got turned into an Asda so now our closest is Knutsford and it is worth the drive!
