How many slices of halloumi?

If you were served grilled halloumi as part of a main meal (it being the main protein) how many slices would you serve and adult?

So like, halloumi, salad and wraps.

I'm talking the standard size packets (220-250g) , all sliced to around half a cm thick.

Half a pack

Ginisatonic · 03/10/2024 16:31

Half a pack per adult

TomatoSandwiches · 03/10/2024 16:31

3-4 depending on thickness, quality of it and what the rest of the meal consists of.

snowgirl1 · 03/10/2024 16:33

Half a pack / 3-4 slices

Half a pack / 3-4 slices

This and if you briefly panfried it I would love you forever.

Blanketyre · 03/10/2024 16:36

Yeah four slices, pan fried in a bit of olive oil and then some lemon in it yum

Decafflatteplease · 03/10/2024 16:36

We often have halloumi wraps and between 4 of us I do 2 packs so half a pack each.

Mynewnameis · 03/10/2024 16:53

It's quite calorific so I try and limit myself to half a pack. Could easily eat a whole one.

LizzieSiddal · 03/10/2024 16:54

I share a pack with dh, he will eat a bit more than me. It is very calorific so don’t have it as much as I’d like.

Cobblersorchard · 03/10/2024 16:56

I think half a pack is a good serving but I’m a greedy cow and can demolish a whole one. I wouldn’t expect to be served a whole though! I reserve that for when I’m in my own and it’s about 11pm 🙈😂

Comedycook · 03/10/2024 16:58

For aesthetic purposes, odd numbers look better on a plate than even!

susiedaisy1912 · 03/10/2024 16:58

4 good slices

Livinginaclock · 03/10/2024 16:59

Half a pack for guests, if cooking it for myself I have a whole pack though.

BlackOrangeFrog · 03/10/2024 17:40

So it's a bit tight to share a pack between 3 adults and a nearly 4 year old?

We had flatbreads, dips like hummus and tarama, big leafy salad, olives, and 2-3 slices of halloumi each.

One pack for 4 people?? Are you having a laugh 🤭

GroovyChick87 · 03/10/2024 17:52

3 slices.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 03/10/2024 17:53

1 pack between 2 if it was the main part of the meal. 1 pack between 3 if there was other stuff to stretch out the food.

crackofdoom · 03/10/2024 17:55

Well, if it's with loads of other stuff as OP describes, as part of something akin to meze, then you'd have less. I had lunch with a friend today- she pan-fried a whole pack of halloumi between the 2 of us, but there were also falafels and houmous, so we didn't finish the halloumi.

outforawalkbiatch · 03/10/2024 18:08

Half a pack but there was a thread on this ages ago which said one slice makes 2 kebabs so...

AIBU to wonder how a 30g portion is a serving size? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/3639851-AIBU-to-wonder-how-a-30g-portion-is-a-serving-size

Half a pack - fried until golden. One of our favourites and my youngest DC happily eats half a pack himself.

GuestFeatu · 03/10/2024 18:10

Yeah that's stingy. Halloumi is the most delicious part of the meal and you should be able to taste it and not have it overpowered by dips.

Just in case you're veggie (halloumi wraps giving that impression maybe) you do know taramasalata is fish eggs, dont you?

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 03/10/2024 18:35

More than a bit tight. I would expect 2 packs for that many people. I usually serve it fried with pitta, hummus and fried up tomatoes, peppers and courgettes. 1 pack with the extras covers and dp.
