What would your dream house include?

In the absence of staff, an emancipated but diligent house elf, giant leap forwards in robotic technology, mine would be a side entrance into a boot room which massive abouts of spaces for sports shoe & bag storage and underfloor heating so that kit abandoned on the floor magically dries. Importantly, this would be a separate entrance to the front door so that you're not constantly risking breaking your neck or apologising to visitors,
delivery drivers etc for the dump that is your entrance hall. The fact that the gorgeously proportioned entrance hall was one of the selling points and the beautiful tiles extortionate makes this situation particularly galling!

What you said OP, plus gym, laundry room and walk in wardrobe.

Would also like a garden big enough for cricket nets and for the dogs to be able to have a proper run around

darksigns · 29/09/2024 21:40

Sea views, swimming pond, laundry room, double garage and workshop.

Views onto a beautiful garden and green space beyond. And, boringly, lots of space to dry wet clothes and towels.

Oh you must be me!

presuming cost was not a factor then an underground bunker that mirrored the above ground house with different levels so as and when could lock down the house and then dissapear to the bunker for the weekend etc and or use the bunker more for different projects

@DuesToTheDirt haha. It did say 'dream'. In reality any structure without mould or a leaky roof and a lock on the door would do. I'm very lucky to have anywhere to live at all!

An en-suite for each bedroom ,utility room and a view of hills, sea etc .

DelphiniumBlue · 30/09/2024 00:25

Yes to the indoor pool, but it would need to be convertible into an outdoor pool in good weather, so the roof would open as would the wall/doors.
There'd be a river or canal at the end of the garden with a mooring place for a few different boats.
Id need a library which could double as an office, and a dressing room. I’d also like a music room and a couple of dedicated spare rooms for visitors. Maybe a games room with a table tennis table and a a snooker table . Oh and a gym .

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/09/2024 00:33

For me it would have a massive basement, a separate boot room and utility and everybody would have their own bathroom. Oh and a lovely and well equipped "summer" house that anybody could escape to or for guests.

justjuggling · 30/09/2024 01:35

Dedicated study/office room, walk in larder/pantry and an indoor swimming pool. Oh, and a large bay window for the Christmas tree.

JBJ · 30/09/2024 01:46

All on one level, with 2 big bedrooms, with en-suites, at completely opposite ends of the house. Ds(18) is a complete insomniac who uses the loo a million times a night and I'm a light sleeper who gets woken up every time he bloody moves! Currently spend most nights downstairs on the sofa as I can't hear him down here, whilst my nice comfy bed goes largely unused.

I also have mobility issues, so would love a bungalow. Big kitchen, laundry/utility room, with a dog shower. Enough land around that I can't hear the neighbours, and a sound proof music studio at the bottom of the garden for Ds and his guitar collection!

An indoor pool and a library.

I'd like to have a craft / sewing room as well but I'm not as able as I was so that might be depressing.

Boot room, utility and a pantry! That would be the dream 😅 a decent hallway then open plan downstairs the rest so I can always keep an eye on the toddlers but still do everything.
Log fire.

Upstairs big family bathroom with a window. (Every windowless bathroom I have ever had always gets damp and doesn't smell fresh)
Couple en-suite bathrooms. All bedrooms equal size. So annoying when they say 3 bedrooms but the 3rd is a large closet and your stuffing a child in there with a bed and nothing else 😅
