Could you do Race Across the World?

I have just watched last night’s episode and thought with all the waiting around, bus journeys, heat, lack of proper food, little money, stress of racing, no proper rest/sleep I don’t think I could do it.

I love seeing all the different countries and locations they visit but I could only do that if I was younger, say early 20s, I could have coped with the discomfort then maybe but not any more!

Don't think I'd pass the audition because I wouldn't be willing to pretend it was any kind of "race". If I did do it I'd use all my spending money on a second hand car and just drive across the country. Job done.

Quite. It's not a race, it's entertainment carefully managed to ensure no one actually really gets ahead, with lots of restrictions to ensure this.

God no! They barely see the places they're in, because they have hurry through. If they get one day of sightseeing per leg that's about it and the rest of the time they're working or stuck on horror bus/train journeys with limited food and very little sleep. It's fun to watch, but I would absolutely HATE to do it. I'm too old, too grumpy, too attached to at least some basic creature comforts and I have IBS.

I would absolutely love it - honestly it’s something I’d consider doing once retired even without the tv crew. I’ve travelled around Asia, I’d love to do South America. Brazil has just looked amazing on the last series.

The travelling to different countries, seeing amazing things, meeting people, eating diverse food, yes. But RATW isn't like that - having to miss out on seeing the amazing things in favour of a 27-hour bus journey to keep your place in the race is not the same thing at all. Those endless journeys with no proper sleep and not even a book to read would drive me insane by Day 2.
