Nice to see you back here, Shoes. It makes me happy that your neighbour was so kind to your dd. I'm sorry to know you have ms. I had a friend with Huntington's eho also suffered recurring uti's. I've been listening to the MeSsy podcast. You might be interested. 🩷

Didn't get to sleep til after 5am. Havoc was feverish snd restless, so gave meds and is still asleep. Have been up with baby for an hour, but is just drifting off again. Going to try same. 🥱

Just been surprised by the most fabulous birthday cake. It's got all my favourite things from the Monkees to the Portuguese tarts. I just had a lovely weep before everyone arrives. Just family here at the moment but it's still noisy with two very excited boys.

Beautiful art Hilda Love Van Gogh.

Hope you managed to get some more sleep Havoc

Welcome back Shoes

Went for another hospital check today and all fine but did find a bruise so advised not to use binder, which I am very happy about as hate it. Only allowed to do walking still and have to go back on Friday then in 2 weeks. But getting less bandaging each time. Afterwards went to botanical gardens for a walk and cake and hot choc, so many squirrels. Fencing being done tomorrow. DD seems very busy but very happy, not hearing of any studying but lots of socialising.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/10/2024 22:22

Hi Bizzey, sorry you are dealing with some stress. 💐
Penguinsa, lovely pic. Sound like a very nice day! Good news about healing progress. ☺️

Got to sleep after 11pm and was up at 3am with dc. Meds for Havoc for ear pain and fever, nursed baby and changed diapers. Both dc wouldn't settle at snd 4:30am I contemplated making pancakes and coffee, then was doing it by 5am. Coffee was decaf. Pancakes were delicious. Laundry went in around 6. Took 2 medical calls for my mum re surgery on Thurs and was back to bed for a couple hours.
Rain has stopped but left quite a bit of mess. Worse, though, is a mudslide in Coquitlam washed a home away and the owner is missing. And in Deep Cove (in N Van) it was a virtual river down the main street and 6 homes were ordered evacuated.

Deathraystare · 22/10/2024 07:56

Well I got 60% yesterday! So proud! Trying to pronounce an African name to a staff member who is himself African. Cue a peal of laughter down the phone and he said he would give me 60% for trying!! Apparently I got better as the day went on!!!

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 22/10/2024 15:50

Glad recovery is going ok Penguinsa , that looks like a lovely place to walk. Lots of socialising and not much studying is par for the course for Freshers Week (month 😁) as I recall.

Hate it when things that should be straightforward are not bizzey , hope your mam is ok tho.

Death I live in wales which has many (to non welsh speakers) unpronounceable place names. When I speak to people in various call centres I usually compliment them on their valiant attempts at pronounciation, sometimes better than people who live here!

Havoc hope the dc are ok and it’s all sorted for your mum’s surgery. We’ve had torrential rain and high winds here but the worst for us has been bins blown over and lots of leaves luckily.

DD had a night out in respite last night but DH and I couldn’t do much as he’s been struck down with Covid. I know rules have changed etc but he does feel like crap so is off work too.
Someone further up in the thread mentioned squirrels, I got back from the shops the other day and dropped some stuff in the house, when I went back to pick up the rest there was a squirrel, bold as brass, sat right in the middle of the drive 😮, he ran off fairly quickly but still!

Deathraystare · 22/10/2024 17:58

@ShoesOnFirstThenCar

Firstly hope your DH gets better soon.

Squirrels - One was coming down the metal fence where I work and nimbly just managed to get out of my way! Where I used to work, I used to walk through a cemetery. Squirrels would pay tag with each other and would pop out of the litter bins!

My friends and I went to Richmond park and squirrels actually sat in our lap! Bold as brass!!!

MissConductUS · 22/10/2024 20:34

Happy birthday, uman. That cake is amazing! Please tell me it came from a posh bakery.

penguinsa, lovely picture. We are also overrun with squirrels. Great news about your recovery progress.

havoc, it sounds like your still going through the wringer with your little ones. It can be a non-stop parade of viral infections at that age as they acquire immunity. Are they going to keep your mum overnight after the surgery or will it be outpatient?

Shoes, covid is still a serious infection and your DH is quite right to stay home. One of my coworkers just had it, and I'm glad I got the booster jab last month.

We've made contact with the builder who redid our en suite shower in 2020. It's a woman-owned business, and she was everything you want in a home remodeling contractor. It was easy to reach her with questions, her contract was simple and fair and the work was all done on time and for the price agreed. Every time I get in the shower, I think about how lovely it is. We will start with new kitchen cabinets, countertops, and flooring. I'm hoping she can stop by to see us this weekend.

The foliage is just lovely now. We're having a warm spell now, 26c today. It's what we call Indian summer.

Miss, outpatient if all goes well. Laparoscopic, so minimally invasive, but surgeon expecting adhesions due to 2 prior majors.

Woke up to rain again today, but looks to have stopped for now. Heading out to Costco and Winners. My milk frother has pooped out!!!! The horror!!! 😱
I've emailed the company as the Amazon window for this product has (frustratingly!!!) closed. I bought it in June. 😾
Winners had a selection last time I was there, so planning on picking one up and poking around for rain boots for Havoc.
Need a few things from Costco and hoping their pharmacy has covid tests still. I've lost my sense of smell/smelling heat or burning. Was like that when sick with covid previously. Need to take extra precautions with illness in our household and my mum has surgery in two days so will have to notify surgeon if we/she's ill.
Planning on a sweet potato soup today. Going to roast them and blend with ginger and coconut milk.

DandyDandylion · 22/10/2024 22:11

Hope the Covid test is negative Havoc sounds like the worst possible timing.

Sorry don’t have time to catch up properly, seem to be quite busy at the moment but not sure why. Was one year anniversary today of FIL passing so has been a family day. Visiting his favourite place to walk, eating his favourite meal in the pub etc Felt like a day to get out of the way before we look forward to half term school break, Halloween, firework night etc.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/10/2024 01:06

Dandy, what a lovely way to remember and honour your fil. 💐

Made it as far as Winners. PJ's and a track suit for Havoc; body suit with bottoms for baby; two new hairbrushes; a toy; and a $10 milk frother by same company. Total spend $100! 🤗
Costco after dinner, then🤷‍♀️.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/10/2024 01:52

Oh! This was the toy. 😊
It plays music, drives, doors open/close and horn and engine sound. I'm a sucker for, "Mummy, look at this!" 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😇
