The bathroom sounds lush Uman you’ll have to post some before and after pictures so we can bask in your new bathroom glow. Really need to get around to sorting mine out but am a bit jaded from doing other work on our house this year.

Hope you’re felling a bit better now Maths I’ve had a quiet couple of weeks with flu and Covid jabs laying me low.

When DH and I were younger we always roasted a duck for special occasions Havoc. Not enough meat for us now but when it was just the two of us it was perfect.

Glad to hear you are still resting up Penguinsa and directing your DH towards useful activities. I’m sure Floof is helping by pinning you down at every opportunity. I used to have a cat who never sat on me until I was 7 months pregnant. Then I couldn’t get her off which meant I sat down more. I think somehow she knew.

We looked outside after a social media post locally said the northern lights were visable. There was a slight glow so we drove a mile up the road where no one lives and got a fabulous light show. They changed over the half hour we were out with different colours and shafts of light. We saw pink, red and finally green. Better looking through our phones and DH got better photos as his phone is only 2 years old. There’s a thread in weather on here where people mention if it is a good aurora night.

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 12/10/2024 11:58

Lovely pics of the aurora everyone! Saw on the village social media someone had taken a lovely photo so DH went outside and declared them to be doctored as he could see nothing 🙄, though lots of people have clever filters on phones I think.

Penguinsa make sure you carry on taking it easy, let DH carry on doing the ‘heavy lifting’ as it were. Lovely pics of Floof.
Hope everyone who’s feeling unwell starts to feel better soon.
Miss well done to DD
sprouts safe travels up the valleys, know you’re relatively not too far from me (as the crow flies at least!) so hope the weather is kind 🤞🏻 and DS team do well.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/10/2024 14:31

Shoes, you have to look through your phone to see them better. That's why people are posting good pics. You can play around with exposure etc on your phone as well.

Deathraystare · 12/10/2024 14:53

@Penguinsa

Glad to hear you are not doing the chicken floor yourself! Just you and the Floof to supervise then! Talking of the Floof, those are lovely eyes!

Lemonsandlemonade · 12/10/2024 18:55

Am so disappointed in DS today he was so awful with sharing his toys.

sent me on a bit of a spiral as if it was my choice we would have another DC so I feel so guilty.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/10/2024 19:53

Awww @Lemonsandlemonade please try not to take this stage badly. It is a stage. I have a toddler and baby. I'm in the trenches of it, too. I've been listening to a podcast: Toddlers made easy/Dr. Cathryn. Check it out! They're short, but insightful. Feel free to pm me, too. 🩷

Havoc has: put baby outside, closed the door and screaming and laughing says, Baby is hiding! Baby is hiding! Does same putting baby into a bedroom or bathroom and closing door.
Daily bonks baby on the head if baby so much as looks at Havoc's toys.
Picks baby up, carries, then drops baby down for looking at/touching toys.
Rips toys out of baby's hand, yells, No! Even if toy is baby's.
Carried baby toward washing machine... 😳 I got there in time.
Tries to put baby into any box around.
Tosses toys at baby, baby's head and laughs.

Most of the time I am intervening, or otherwise talking to Havoc and explaining why that isn't done/allowed. Not afraid to admit I've yelled and pulled Havoc away when it's been severe and hurt baby. Like yesterday. 🤷‍♀️

I've noticed bad behaviour occurs when Havoc is tired, hungry, had a poo diaper, or any combo. So I try to address those areas first.

Hang in there! Your little one is learning. You are doing the best you can and that's all you can do. 🩷🩷🩷

DandyDandylion · 12/10/2024 20:23

@Lemonsandlemonade i don’t know the context of today but here are my hard earned tips. Let the child have toys they don’t share, these can go away when others come to play. Reward good sharing in some way and quickly move on from bad without much fanfare. Remember your child’s toys are their most treasured possessions, we wouldn’t like it if someone ripped our jewellery off us. That is how it feels for them. Siblings are different and many children are incredibly sweet with them (most of the time). Having a sibling is normally a great thing longer term, myself and DH have lost parents and at times like those you are glad to have siblings.
I am watching the prince phillip cup mounted games at the horse of the year show online. Love the way those riders leap on from the ground, wish I could still do that.

Penguinsa · 12/10/2024 20:46

Thanks Dandy Glad you saw the northern lights too.

Thanks Shoes Yes I also only realised relatively recently the phone pictures are massively more than what you can see with the eye alone. Glad I didn't pay for a trip away to discover that.

Thanks Death Floof loves compliments.

Aww Lemons I think they all go through phases like that and Havoc has excellent advice. Mine are much older though DS was good at sharing as a toddler but is making up for it now. DH bought 2 cheesecake tonight, and DS ate them both. 😂 DH has since been out and bought a giant cheesecake which he and I had pieces of but imagine that will also vanish overnight.

Cleaners in this morning and we tidied a bit before them and they also ventured into DDs room which she never finished tidying but they managed to clean round, do downstairs except room DS wouldn't move from and also did upstairs bathroom and outside it so house looks good now. DH then had a nap then I had a croissant with ham and cheese and a Portuguese tart. DH then went to put new tyre on but couldn't and also didn't do the chickens. But he made a lovely roast dinner and also set up a small heater in my room. DS is still turning our heating off all the time, we now have fleece everything but was still a bit cold. Once heater came Floof appeared and has been with me ever since and very sleepy.

Hoping to go out tomorrow. Heard from DD, she has a party tonight.

IWanderedLonely · 12/10/2024 21:10

Haven't seen the Northern Lights here, lots of photos, but I chose sleepWink
Walked to DM's 4 times today to do various bits and bobs. That means I can eat my nut brittle guilt free.Smile

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/10/2024 17:50

Glorious autumn morning here in YVR! 😎☀️ 12c

kids were a bit squirrelly last night and wouldn't settle for sleep because I was doing something very interesting: fixing the gap between baseboard and wall, filling holes and taping borders for prep to paint said wall today. Baby was finally asleep around 11:30pm and Havoc shortly after, but I was watching YT vids, music, and Havoc was transfixed by James Blunt/You're beautiful and kept asking me to replay the "snowing" video. 🤦‍♀️

Penguinsa · 13/10/2024 18:03

Nut brittle is lovely Iwandered Not had any for years but had it growing up.

Glad you had a beautiful morning Havoc

DH and I went out to the botanical gardens and had an hours walk and a bagel with crisps and a chocolate and Guinness cake each which had icing on. I had an orange and clementine juice. Was a lot more colour than I was expecting. Lots of pretty flowers and some glass houses and loved this tree.

@Penguinsa

Ooh those Botanical pics are nice!

HildaTablet · 13/10/2024 18:36

That garden looks very Japanese, @Penguinsa

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/10/2024 18:44

Sounds like you had a great day, Penguinsa!

MissConductUS · 13/10/2024 19:26

My heart goes out to all who are struggling with toddlers. The sharing issues are very challenging. Cognitively, at that age “mine” is a very expansive concept. “Borrowing” is also very slippery. It’s also a bit traumatizing for the first child when the second one arrives.

Pengiunsa, Mr Floof is looking quite regal these days. Those are lovely pictures from the botanical garden.

I managed to miss the northern lights. I wish I had known they were coming.

The fall colors are just coming out. I have pictures that I can’t seem to post directly from my iPad. MN says they’re too big, so I’ll edit them later on my laptop.

Tomorrow is a holiday (Columbus Day), so I’m not sure if we’re FaceTiming with DD tonight or not.

Miss, I often get that mssg when trying to post pics, too. I've checked and the pic/s are withing size. Have also tried posting one at a time. Odd. 🧐

IWanderedLonely · 13/10/2024 20:36

Went to Bakewell today for a potter. Bought a pair of Clarks leather knee high boots for £10 from a charity shop, so I listed my old ones on Vonted ( hardly worn, as they pinched my toes) they sold within the hour. Now I need to remember to buy a new roll of parcel tape Hmm

What a fair trade, Iwandered!!! 👍

Sampled tomorrows desserts. I bought them this time to give myself a break. Banana pecan coffee cake, pumpkin pie and Nanaimo bars from Costco.

Happy Thanksgiving day Havoc 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 🍰🎂🥞,🎉😘🥰🎶...

And someone else here who is Canadian as well 🤔🤔😯💡🤦..
Brain has decided to not play ball to night...sorry x

But hope everyone in Canada has a wonderful day celebrating 🥳

bizzey · 14/10/2024 03:12

Maths...are you Canadian or USA ? ! 🤔😂.

bizzey · 14/10/2024 03:13

I know I have missed someone ...and it is bugging me !

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/10/2024 05:56

Bizzey, I'm pretty sure I'm the only Canadian here. 🤗
I think Math is Irish and living in Illinois.

Productive evening sorting and boxing kids clothes for donation. Painted a wall today and touched up a lot of scuffs elsewhere.
Going to have a bath and get into bed shortly.
Very tired all of a sudden.

DandyDandylion · 14/10/2024 07:48

Happy Columbus Day/Canadian thanksgiving. Have I got that right, would love to hear more about how you celebrate?

I am in awe at your diy skills Havoc, I used to do our decorating but this year we started paying someone. I’m embarrassed to admit how much I have learned watching the husband wife team do their thing.

Lovely autumn colours everyone is posting, the botanical garden look very nice Penguinsa.

I really should get myself on vinted Iwander, I used eBay in the past but it doesn’t seem as good nowadays. I do use facebook marketplace but that is hit and miss.

We are knee deep in sixth form open days and gcse mocks for my ds. He received his first conditional offer of a place last week, I’m sure I didn’t have to apply or get certain grades to do A levels. He has to apply, interview and then wait to see what his results are.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/10/2024 08:12

Dandy, I've learned via YouTube and trial and error.
I'm pretty good at repairing wall dings and gaps in baseboards (just spackle and taping); and can decently caulk windows to seal as well as bathtubs/sinks. I've touched up grout on bathroom tile successfully; can sand and re-finish window sills; and if I absolutely had to could do a small drywall repair. I think it's all easily learned and just taking your time and being prepared with everything at hand. I still had to clean up paint from the floor today, touched my arm to the wet wall and stepped in a bit of paint on the drop cloth, but somehow pulled off the task. 😂🩷

Deathraystare · 14/10/2024 10:39

@Penguinsa

Whoops! Not the fault of the Galaxy chocolate (though it was still not tasty enough. I have a big problem to deal with at the moment (my own fault) and my insides are rebelling!

We have a hospital cat! A beautiful long-legged tabby. It comes into the canteen and is served! It then comes in again and is told to go away, meowing all the time. I think it was fed again by the chef!!!
