No amount of investment is going to magic up the extra 20,000,000 acres of farmable land needed for everyone to eat British food.

You wouldn't need that much if you embraced the Reform policy (inspired by Churchill no doubt) and allowed a few millions to starve to death.

"They are starting to make noises about Reform being the only ones who care about women at the moment. But they aren’t right wing, obvs. Just casually agreeing with fascists."

Interesting. Farage has spoken against maternity leave and against women in the armed forces. Neither of which lead me to believe he's much of a feminist.

He's also bragged about getting "so many" women pregnant. Given Mogg and Johnson's proclivities maybe that's a right wing thing. (Credit to Mogg for staying with one woman - or maybe that's frowned upon, I dunno).

Had a text just now to say my £56 water bill has been declined from my account. I'm chuckling a little at this because obviously I am skint but they used to take it at the beginning of the month (pay day) but since their bills have increased by 31% they must have changed their profit day. Considering we've had them polluting rivers and beaches to the point we can't swim in them and the villages have had contaminated water (free bottles given out), I am struggling to see the point. I'm hoping they have had a large proportion of their "customers" not expecting to pay them today and the headache of having to re-bill.

What exactly can they do if I refuse to pay, out of interest? Is it legal for them to cut off mains water to a house with a child in?

Not building on what’s left of it would be a start. But I take your point.

I’ve just seen comments along the lines of “Reform know what a woman is”. Give. Me. Strength.

ETA what I was replying to.

Notonthestairs · 18/06/2024 16:47

No, they definitely can't cut you off.
They'll send reminders - each reminder should give you 7 days to pay - eventually they can pass it on to debt collectors or apply to county court.

No, they can’t cut you off. They would take you to court and down the line send bailiffs in.

Either Reform were too stupid to know what they bought.

Or they thought nobody would check.

Neither particularly convincing for a company that wants to run the UK.

I think they are going to have to wait for a couple of months - lots of unexpected expenses over the last couple of months here and not much let up over the expensive summer holidays. Good to know they won't cut us off though, thank you both!

Saw this and thought it was worth posting - are we about to get a barrage of threads? I hope not. I'd get a loan for dd to go private in a heartbeat if I had to.

I think there is some error, they can't be Tory MPs, they are not unwantedly groping and shagging each other.

Definitely all over the boards today. Very strange switch in allegiances in some cases 🤔

CassieMaddox · 18/06/2024 18:06

Can't wait for the election so this absolute nonsense goes away

BIossomtoes · 18/06/2024 18:09

They’re asking us to believe they really, really want to vote Labour but that nasty Starmer who could get their vote “at the stroke of a pen” won’t indulge them. So they’re voting Reform instead. 🤯

I dread to think what nonsense will be appearing in two weeks’ time.

Is he fucking serious?
The self delusion is off the scale!

CassieMaddox · 18/06/2024 18:11

I like the one about 2 "home nations" parents being forced to raise their child to be proud of his English identity because all the family (and indeed the whole wold) are anti English.
Definitely one of the odder parenting choices I've seen on here 😂

Saucery · 18/06/2024 18:14

My take is they think Labour will sit up and take notice if they vote Conservative or Reform over the Gender issue, which just isn’t the case. If that is an issue you care deeply about (not debating it on this thread) then I do understand, but I feel it’s an ongoing discussion to be had once we have a workable govt, which we don’t at the moment.

Plus, can’t people tell when they are being played? By Farage and Tice of all people? C’mon. Catch yersel on Hmm

Looks like the vetting company used by Ukip Reform wasn't actually a vetting company but a portal.

It does explain the Reform candidate's anti rewilding declaration that I was confused about this morning though. I suspect they just don't want farmers to get more of a profit than they currently do sans EU subsidies...again, which party leader fought so hard for that to become reality?
