Luke Akehurst the NEC member parachuted into Durham has had pro Palestinian demonstrations when he was out canvassing and someone has published all the tweets he deleted before being named as a candidate.

Vote Labour get strikes? I’ve got some news for you Victoria…

Did she not notice the strikes & walkouts maybe that’s why it hasn’t been resolved?

Ah that explains it all! Now she knows she can do something about them!

RafaistheKingofClay · 02/06/2024 19:12

I’m guessing she doesn’t know who the health secretary is.

Bravermans been all over FB the past few months stating the reason they can't provide specialist education to those with send is the VAT.

They have been crap before it was even on the table.

They've been failing on that front for years. Fuck all to do with VAT.

Keegan and others are trying to raise the bogeyman of children with SEND being chucked out of independent schools. There is no valid reason why they should. No child is placed in an independent schools under an EHCP unless the LA or tribunal has decided that there is no cheaper alternative able to meet their needs, so the LA can't just decide to take them out of school because it's become more expensive. The remedy is easy enough, the government can effectively reassign the VAT they receive from such schools by way of increased funding to LAs specifically as SEND funding.

Missed this yesterday. "Hate marches" indeed, strangely not mentioned by the Tories, presumably so as not to alienate the fan base

(Tommy Robinson march ostensibly "anti-Hamas" but featuring all kinds of right wing type stuff. Thread worth a read but 😱)

It wasn't even really meant to be anti Hamas. It was meant to be about 'two tier policing'.

Lawrence Fox then got in a tussle with a red bus and appeared to suggest black youths would stab him and phoned the police because they were 'threatening'.

Rolls are falling anyway due to falling birth rate. I believe the current year 6/7 are the peak years but not 100% sure about that. Any all through schools should already have been planning for that.

Small independents are a risky move if you don’t want to take the risk of the school closing.

It’s current Yr 5. I know that as I have a child in Yr 8 (which was the first year of population growth) and Yr 5 (the second). Not sure if the Yr 5 cohort is larger than Yr 8. When we were applying for primary for DD is was cutthroat!

I think he was a passenger. Drunk in a car without an MOT

RafaistheKingofClay · 02/06/2024 19:32

He’s deleted the live video of the police in his house. Not sure whether that’s because the police objected or because one of his kids walked in.

Would be hilarious if the police watched the video of the kids ‘following him home’ and ended up being done for wasting police time.

Who was??

RafaistheKingofClay · 02/06/2024 19:35

CassieMaddox · 02/06/2024 19:33

Who was??

Laurence Fox. Although he wasn’t driving. He was drunk and the car doesn’t seem to have an MOT.

I’m going to imagine an almighty tantrum will ensue if it turns out the bus driver wasn’t at fault and the friend’s insurance company won’t pay out because not having an MOT invalidates the insurance.

IClaudine · 02/06/2024 19:39

I'd be careful what you say about Fox. Doubt he hangs out here, but you never know!

It depends on the area. The UK birth rate peaked in around 2010, was fairly steady until 2013 and then started falling.
Obviously birth rate isn't the only factor, but it is the main one. So the peak in school cohort nationwide is around year 9 or 10. With a more significant drop from about current year 7.

RafaistheKingofClay · 02/06/2024 20:01

My guess is the Telegraph are less worried about the state schools closing down because of falling rolls.

fabio12 · 02/06/2024 20:11

@Notonthestairs interesting links there re SEN and indie/private sector. I had heard a few rumours schools would cut bursary numbers (the ones who do a few places for FSM kids in each year) but it actually makes more sense to cut the SEN provisions and keep the higher achievers if they are cutting costs this way. Very sad situation for an already stretched SEN system and the parents.

Isn't that guy committing electoral fraud using other parties names on his leaflets? Or at least breaking a Conservative code of conduct?

Now we could have fun trying to write a Conservative code of conduct based on their behaviour?

It would be short: 'Do what you think you can get away with and don't get caught'.

Does there need to be clause about, if there are allegations double down and lie about it?
