How much milk per week do you use?

Just sorting out the weeks shopping and am astounded at the amount that's been used this week for 4 adults. 9 fresh pints and 12-14 long life litres of milk. Feels like we'll need to get a cow if this continues!

Wow! I didn't realise we were at the lower end of the scale. Less than 2 litres a week for 2 adults and a toddler.

The toddler has formula, though, so thinking about it, she's hardly having any milk from the fridge at all.

laughinglivingloving · 19/03/2024 02:59

erm.. it's in litres here but we usually use somewhere between 8-12ltrs a week.
I make a lot of cheese sauce/rice pudding/porridge.

SuperstarDeejay · 19/03/2024 04:37

I buy a 2 litre bottle every time I do a big supermarket run (so every fortnight or so). It always goes off before it's used up.

3-5 adults depending on who has partners over. It's mostly for visitor tea/coffee and the odd bowl of cereal.

I'm feeling a bit squicky at the thought of drinking some of the volumes mentioned on here! We use plant based alternatives for large drinks like smoothies.

Dh is the only cows milk drinker and he has 16 pints a week at home, plus extra at work. He drinks at least 8 mugs of full milk latte a day... and has a huge pint travel mug that he takes everywhere in his car. He's putting so much fat on his abdomen..... but that's another thread.

I have 3 x 1 litre cartons of unsweetened soya and that's for work/home.

Omg the amount of caffeine too

bradpittsbathwater · 19/03/2024 04:46

About 2 x 2 litre bottles a week at most. 2 adults 1 toddler. Toddler eats and drinks at childminder during the week.

bradpittsbathwater · 19/03/2024 04:47

I find some of the volumes on here crazy

Caspianberg · 19/03/2024 04:50

About 6-7Litres (12-14 ish pints). They are sold in 1 litre bottles here and we roughly get through 1 each day.
Ds drinks a glass milk each day, and the rest usually goes on tea, cereal, baking, cooking etc.

Anyone whose teenager is putting away pints of the stuff and struggling with acne - there's a direct link. (So says DS2's dermatologist who he needed after starting a protein shake habit.)

grinandslothit · 19/03/2024 05:20

Haven't bought or drank cow's milk in years due to lactose intolerance. I use almond milk instead.

NotFastButFurious · 19/03/2024 06:56

Hardly any, I drink almond milk and it lasts for ages once opened. I only have cereal about once a week, drink my coffee black and so it’s only a couple of cups of tea on the days I’m at home.

Cosycover · 19/03/2024 07:13

I think I'd be cheaper buying a cow tbh.

yomellamoHelly · 19/03/2024 07:32

2 adults + 1 dc (but they don't really drink/have any) = 14 pints/week. But when eldest is back that goes up to 24-26 pints. (We like milky coffees.)

thankyouforthedayz · 19/03/2024 07:36

I buy 3 x 4 pints in the weekly shop, then we need another 2 x 4 pints in the week so 20 pints per week. As the milk delivery is only 2x pw we had to stop as we couldn't accommodate all the glass bottles. Family of 4, 2 teens, 2 adults. We all have cereal/ porridge daily. I make 2 pints custard and one roux/milk sauce based meal per week. The kids make hot chocolate and vanilla milk, DH makes frothy coffees.

LaWench · 19/03/2024 07:42

We get through 3x 4pt of skimmed and 1x4pt of whole milk. I buy the filtered whole milk so that it lasts the week and generally only use it in our morning coffee. Skimmed for everything else.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/03/2024 07:44

Two adults and about 16 pints. Which feels like a lot of 🥛

mondaytosunday · 19/03/2024 07:45

One adult one 18 year old (yes technically an adult but if you have one you'll get it). Four pints a week.

kikisparks · 19/03/2024 07:47

None but about 10 litres of oat milk at least.

Weallnamechangesometimes · 19/03/2024 07:48

10 pints cow (2 adults)
7-10 litres of oat (2 kids with cmpa)

TheMostly · 19/03/2024 07:51

I used to drink Califia Farms Unsweetened Vanilla Almond milk but I was actually lying about it because I was on a diet that only allowed dairy. So now I want to drink Gold Top only but I will be as big as a house if I do that. So I guess I will drink skimmed.

As a family my husband drinks 1 pint of semi-skimmed milk per week in his espressos. My beloved son drinks Alm

AuntieMarys · 19/03/2024 07:51

2 adults...probably 8 pints of green a week. We get it free

Boymum2104 · 19/03/2024 08:06

None 😅

App13 · 19/03/2024 08:08

24 pints , 1 adult and 1 toddler. We make our own yogurt so that uses up a lot

sashh · 19/03/2024 09:11

Most of the time none (lactose intolerant) I buy it in for visitors.
