How much milk per week do you use?

Just sorting out the weeks shopping and am astounded at the amount that's been used this week for 4 adults. 9 fresh pints and 12-14 long life litres of milk. Feels like we'll need to get a cow if this continues!

1 litre of oat milk lasts us about ten days for 2 adults.

Rocket1982 · 18/03/2024 22:02

2 adults 2 kids 9 pints

XenoBitch · 18/03/2024 22:18

Just me... about a pint a week. I only use it for tea.

Two adults, two teens and two children and we use 40 pints every week. It's ridiculous!

A lot with cereal, I also use it for cooking (white sauces etc) and 3 members of the family drink a large glass of it once/twice daily.

Happiestathome · 18/03/2024 22:29

28-32 pints a week for 2 adults and 2 teens

Dacadactyl · 18/03/2024 22:32

I buy 16 pints of fresh milk a week for 2 adults, 2 kids.

2 x 6 pinters
1 x 4 pinter

Librarybooker · 18/03/2024 22:36

About 4 pints per week because it’s porridge season. 3 adults - kinda like 4 cos 6ft teen

Janniss543 · 18/03/2024 22:52

Nowhere near some of these, wow! I usually chuck the last bit of the 2 litre bottle every week wren I buy another. Can't believe some of these

MrsAvocet · 18/03/2024 23:11

A pint lasts me over a week/until it goes off. I'm the only person in our house who uses it at all and I only have it in tea - one or two cups a day.

MoonlightMemories · 18/03/2024 23:13

About 2-2.5 litres, depending on how much tea I'm drinking and if I've used any for baking/cooking with. Just me in the house, though.

ODFOx · 18/03/2024 23:18

8+ pints a week: 4 adults.
2 of us have black coffee and don't eat cereal. The other 2 make lattes and Frosties twice a day.
If I need milk for cooking we buy extra.

buswankerz · 18/03/2024 23:19

The big cravendale. Only ds drjnks it.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 18/03/2024 23:20

Less than a pint. No milk in tea or coffee, so it only ever gets used if my partner is staying over. I buy the 1L filtered stuff, so it usually has about 3 weeks on the "use by", and even then I end up pouring it away a fair bit.

AllLopsided · 18/03/2024 23:24

5-6 litres, just me and DH. I don't know how we get through so much, but DH uses most of it as he has cereal and drinks it. I have it in tea and the odd milky coffee.

Flippingfruitflies · 18/03/2024 23:29

About 56 pints per week 🥴
only me and 2 dds at home. Omg that’s a lot! Hadn’t really thought about it!

donteatthedaisies0 · 18/03/2024 23:30

I've never counted it . My mum used to buy two pints a day and that used to have to cover a family of five .
I always swore I would never deny my kids milk , if they want to drink a pint of milk a day they can.
Sons in their twenties now and can still drink as much milk as they want , and me .

SheepAndSword · 18/03/2024 23:31

One pint.

MamaWillYouBuyMeAWillYouBuyMeABanana · 18/03/2024 23:34

About 60/65 pints per week. 2 kids, 2 teens and 2 adults.

Kids are very sporty so always hungry --we also go through a dozen boxes of cereal a week on average-. I would honestly be cheaper buying a cow.

DavidRosesEyebrows · 18/03/2024 23:59

Between 6&8 pints. Two adults and four kids.

My parents go through more than us in a two person household.

MonkeyPuddle · 19/03/2024 00:04

6 pint bottle a week, DP, me and DS(6) and DD(3).
mainly on cereal/porridge (though I do blob yoghurt onto the top of porridge sometimes).
I only have one coffee a day and that’s the total of my milk intake.

Nat6999 · 19/03/2024 01:14

If milk didn't go off I could make a 1 litre carton last a couple of months. I throw away more than I use as I only have one 5p sized spot in my only cup of tea a day. I never eat cereal or use milk in anything else, I buy Cravendale milk to make it last as long as possible.

I know someone who only used it in coffee, she got those ice cube bags and froze the milk then put them straight in her coffee, the cubes are (apparently) the ideal size. She only bought milk about every 2 or 3 months.

Lucythecleaner · 19/03/2024 01:25

At most half a pint. I can go weeks without any at all

MumChp · 19/03/2024 01:33

10 yo child - 3 litres a week.
I don't drink/eat any dairy and dh very little.

caringcarer · 19/03/2024 01:45

We use loads. Foster son drinks about 2 pints a day. DH and I like our lattes and DH has milk on cereal too. I'd say 24 pints a week for DH, me and FS.
