How much milk per week do you use?

Just sorting out the weeks shopping and am astounded at the amount that's been used this week for 4 adults. 9 fresh pints and 12-14 long life litres of milk. Feels like we'll need to get a cow if this continues!

2 adults and we average 4L per week.

KohlaParasaurus · 18/03/2024 21:20

6 pints lasts DH and me a full week.

FranksInvisibleLlama · 18/03/2024 21:23

Less than 1 pint of cow milk and less than 1L of oat milk for 1 adult and 2 children

1 adult and 2 DC we go through about 16 pints a week, cereal, porridge and drinking.

4 pints between two. Sometimes less and I might only buy one 2 pint bottle if there is half of one left.

That's usually two pints for kefir, one for my porridge and the rest for DS's coffees.

DeathMetalMum · 18/03/2024 21:23

4 pints. 2 adults 2 dc. I have a trickle of milk in my tea and dc eat cereal in the week. Dp uses coffee pids so no milk. We will push to 6 pints if I use a lot in cooking or make a big batch of hot chocolate for us.

weegiemum · 18/03/2024 21:24

1-2 pints a week.

Only dd1's boyfriend takes it in coffee (they're currently living with us) and dh drinks it when he has heartburn! Always have some in, in case of unexpected tea drinking guests.

Quornflakegirl · 18/03/2024 21:26

6 pints of cows milk a week and 1 litre of oat milk a week. 2 adults and 2 children.

LBOCS2 · 18/03/2024 21:27

About 3 pints a week, possibly four if DSS is with us (he's a big tea drinker and we're not).

HippeePrincess · 18/03/2024 21:27

8-12 pints usually depending on if we’re cooking with it, or whether the older kids are home or at their dads, or dp & kids on school holidays.

GreenMarigold · 18/03/2024 21:30

We each have around 2 pints a week. I have mine in tea, dh has his with cereal and the children have theirs in porridge and the occasional hot chocolate.

Borborygmus · 18/03/2024 21:30

2 adults, around 12-14 litres per week.

Waitingfordoggo · 18/03/2024 21:32

About 16-20 pints. We are two adults and two teens but DH is lactose intolerant and DD doesn’t like milk. I have a tiny bit in my tea so the vast majority of ours is consumed by DS who is 15 and at the stage of teenage boyhood where he comes down multiple times a day, opens the fridge and stares inside, always looking for the next meal or snack. To be fair he’s been at this stage for about three years and it is an expensive time 😂

BoobyDazzler · 18/03/2024 21:33

Between 12-20 pints. Almost exclusively in coffee.

Ceramicvase · 18/03/2024 21:33

6 pints of cows milk

2 litres of oat milk

8 litres of toddler milk (my 3 and 6 year old still have 500ml a day each approximately)

SpringOfContentment · 18/03/2024 21:33

There are some massive variations in household milk consumption!

I buy 2 or 4 pints a week. I'm beginning to understand why getting 2 pint containers is tricky. We are exceptionally low users!

MintTwirl · 18/03/2024 21:35

10-12 pints a week. 2 adults(one doesn’t have milk), 3dc.

NC03 · 18/03/2024 21:36

You should see what we use at work
My manager suggested it would be cheaper to just buy a few cows
Usually around 50 pints a day for staff and customers

Ineedanewsofa · 18/03/2024 21:39

Wow this thread is eye opening! I thought 4 pints between 1 adult and 1 child per week was a lot…

ToMowOrNotToMow · 18/03/2024 21:39

About 50+ points per week. Just me, DH and DS15!! DS has around 32 points of that as full fat milk whilst we have the reminder as semi skimmed.

And about 1kg cheddar and about 7 large pots of Yeo yoghurt each week.

We’ve seriously considered a catering pergal milk machine for our kitchen.

OldTinHat · 18/03/2024 21:41

🤢 none

Live alone, hate cow juice unless it's in cheese disguise!

Revelatio · 18/03/2024 21:46

Wow, I’m honestly shocked how much milk people get through!! We are two adults, and one toddler and we get through 2l a week of cow milk and 0.5l of oat milk. I am always throwing the end of both milks away as we don’t drink it all.

We have 4 coffees (2 cow, 2 oat, but small amounts of milk) in the morning before work. I have a couple of teas when wfh but only like a tiny splash of milk. Toddler sometimes has a tea at the weekend, and probably about 2 small cups of cow milk a week on average. They have porridge at the weekend for breakfast with cow milk.

Roundaboot · 18/03/2024 21:49

It's amazing how variable this is!
We usually get through 8 pints a week for 2 adults and one teenager, more if DS has a lot of milkshakes/smoothies which seem to take a pint of milk each time 😒
I never normally drink it raw but I'm fancying a glass of cold milk now!

Hopebridge · 18/03/2024 21:49

12-16 pints 2 adults 2 children. One adult doesn't use milk. This is for cooking, drinks, cereal etc

SpruceMoose · 18/03/2024 21:54

24-28 pints a week, 2 adults a 5yr old and 1 Yr old.
