What's good from Sainsburys?

I'm usually faithful to Tesco but I'm bored and want to try sainos.

What's good? What should I try?

Thanks!

NOT their beef mince in the awful new packaging. Was horrible.

I like their Indian ready meals

bobisbored · 20/02/2024 12:45

I don't rate their meat at all. I prefer Aldi.

JCLV · 20/02/2024 12:46

Their plants. I bought a couple of hyacinths in pots for the windowledge - £3 each and they are beautiful. Far superior to other shops.

RedRosie · 20/02/2024 12:48

I really like their seeded sourdough, from the bakery bit (Sainsbury's Artisan Seeded Sourdough Pave). Most supermarket bread is vile, but I love this one.

Clawdy · 20/02/2024 12:49

They always have my favourite cheese - Davidstow.
And their croissants are great - individually wrapped!

DiscoBeat · 20/02/2024 12:53

Their Belgian chocolate chips make such a difference in cookies. Also like their 'takeaway' doner kebab seasoning packet. And the 'spear' carrots.

DiscoBeat · 20/02/2024 12:55

NB I do my main shop in Aldi but get the things they don't have in sainsbury while I'm shopping for my mum.

Robinbuildsbears · 20/02/2024 12:55

Every time I go to Sainsbury's I always accidentally end up buying something that's already out of date and been left on the shelves. This never happens at other supermarkets I go to.

CoQ10 · 20/02/2024 12:58

This bread from the in-house bakery.

It's magnificent.

Assam tea bags . They are the king of tea bags

BreakfastAtMimis · 20/02/2024 13:06

I love these tea bags but they've been out of stock for ages so I'm worried they're never coming back. I'm rationing a couple of boxes that I managed to find in one of their smaller shops.

mackerel pate

zeddip · 20/02/2024 13:29

We shop at Sainsbury's, we actually moved from Morrisons as it was cheaper. Again we don't really pick anything out specifically to buy from there we just like it all round. Definitely get a nectar card for nectar prices!

stripeymonster · 20/02/2024 13:50

Spicy tomato and lentil soup in the fridge section. Moroccan olives in a jar. Fresh pesto.

houseydncf · 20/02/2024 12:15

Haha you're putting me off! Maybe I'd be better off doing an Ocado instead because there's so much I love from M&S.

I thought I was being all fancy pants but perhaps not! Why does anyone go to Sainsburys then if more expensive and not as good?

Because Sainsbury's is my closest supermarket to where I live. However I work near a Tesco's so if I'm organised I do most of my shopping after work. And then a small top up shop from Sainsbury's at three weekend

CrushingOnRubies · 20/02/2024 13:55

Oh the spiced winter berry cheesecake is lush

MillshakePickle · 20/02/2024 14:34

Oh their name brand baby food pouches. Organic no added nasties and super reasonably priced. Use them on the go and when having some for dinner baby can't have.

MillshakePickle · 20/02/2024 14:35

And nappies! Swear they are made by Huggies. So soft, stretchy, super absorbant and stupidly cheap. Just size up a bit sooner as they are a tad on the small side. But 48 size 4s for £2.88!

I came on to say exactly this. The white sourdough pave is good too.

Most of the “Taste the difference” are good, especially sausages and Prosecco

TheSameClip · 20/02/2024 15:18

Taste the Difference tea bags (Earl Grey ones are my favourite).

Apple hot cross buns.

Taste the Difference filled pastas (addicted to the pesto one!)

Own brand straight to wok noodles.

Stamford Street (value brand) peanut butter & honey.

Habitat home stuff when it’s on sale (which it frequently is).

Taste the Difference sausages & bacon are much nicer than M&S or Tesco Finest imo.

I like Sainsburys. It’s my favourite of the supermarkets bar Waitrose.

Toodlepip100 · 20/02/2024 15:24

I find Tesco far more expensive than Sainsburys. I do a click n collect weekly.
Sainsburys mince is awful since the packaging changed sadly.
Their own cheapo chocolate digestives are nice.

mitogoshi · 20/02/2024 15:28

Their clothes!

The food is no different to other supermarkets and I find expensive but I go for the Tu clothes range, punch way above their price point.

Lidl is my go to for groceries and it's Alpine week from Thursday, schnitzel, port knuckle and pancake bites, yum!

OnceinaMinion · 20/02/2024 15:28

I’m a big fan of their teabags.

I also rated their fresh pesto but ours doesn’t stock it anymore, I’ve not found another brand I like.

OopsieeDaisy · 20/02/2024 15:29

The taste the difference chocolate chunk shortbread from the bakery counter is delicious, as are the TTD cookies. Also the TTD ham, mushroom and mascarpone pizza. Their own brand stuff is good too, but the TTD range is nice if you’re after some treats.
