I'm about to burst not being able to reply to stuff! Someone help me please!

(Yes, I know it's sad and I know everyone asks but I'm a very sad individual and er... yeah that's it really).

Go read the Tattle sub on Reddit. You might well change your mind.

The Tattle sub is most people being miffed that they're either a) not allowed on or b) banned.

okaythenright · 09/02/2024 11:29

Are you wanting to defend the rapist defender intstatrash that's a hot topic on there RN?
I suggest you jog on lol

Enjoying a thread that is racist and misogynistic makes you racist and misogynistic.

Nonsense.
I object to Markle because of her behaviour.

DocOck · 09/02/2024 11:38

It drives me mad that if you dislike Meghan Markle you MUST BE RACIST. I dislike Amanda Holden, Holly Willoughby too for the record.

I'm not keen on Margaret Thatcher.

Or Nigel Farage.

FirstFallopians · 09/02/2024 11:42

I enjoy sleb gossip and a moan about public figures as much as the next person, but Tattle is something else.

Some of the threads have done a good job at shining a light on grifters and chancers like Jack Monroe, but most of the content goes to show what happens when you give people a keyboard and anonymity.

TheShellBeach · 09/02/2024 11:45

..............but most of the content goes to show what happens when you give people a keyboard and anonymity

Ah c'mon. You could say that about all SM, including Mumsnet.

Prinnny · 09/02/2024 11:56

The posters on there are loads more polite to each other than on MN, probably because they can’t hide behind constant name changes.

The Goodman sisters and Talia Oatway ones were very eye opening and show how deceptive influencers are.

exploringshakes · 09/02/2024 11:59

I just had a look. The 'Secret Celebrity Gossip' one is a good laugh.

TheShellBeach · 09/02/2024 11:59

It's great, and I love Tattle. It never loads well for me, though, which makes it difficult to use sometimes.

PicklesAndTequila · 09/02/2024 12:09

Secret Celebrity gossip is one of my favourites.

They’re absolutely lovely to you until you have a different view.

GetWhatYouWant · 09/02/2024 12:22

Some of the stuff on there is interesting but there are some other people who say the most terrible things. I used to go on the Harry and Meghan thread but got banned for saying someone was rather stupid to insist that their children didn't exist and were photoshopped or borrowed from other people. There were people on there who would constantly make comments about the huge bucket size of Meghan's vagina in the most foul language, that she was previously a prostitute etc yet they were allowed to stay and still continue to post on those lines, so their moderation standards seem rather skewed at the least.

GordoStevensMustache · 09/02/2024 12:23

Hoglet70 · 09/02/2024 07:55

@girlyjim I think it's because it's so full now. You couldn't join at all for ages and ages and then it started saying you needed a code.

Lol, it's not "full". They are just trying to create buzz around the site and make it seem more exclusive than it is. They could open up membership if they wanted to.

Rainbowunicornsparkle · 09/02/2024 12:28

It’s the stuff about children, some of them very young. It’s so horrible to read. I know it’s officially against the rules but that’s just for show.

Alchemistress · 09/02/2024 12:34

I joined after the Sali Hughes meltdown a few years ago.

I only lurk, I don't post.

I don't look at royal threads or any of the more frothing ones that seem to set out to absolutely crucify certain influencers.

That said, holding grifters to account is something that should be done, so I'm not totally against a certain level of snark on there.

I've only ever seen posters being polite and supportive on there. When anyone is out of order they are reprimanded pretty quickly.

Fjruejejrnrnrbbbbb222333 · 09/02/2024 12:40

They're already talking about your post on tattle

Covetthee · 09/02/2024 12:41

Lol got to love the snobbishness of people thinking that being on MN is different to tattle.

you just have to read a couple of threads on the AIBU board to see the same level of venom and bitterness, and that’s aimed at users, at least tattle, the influencers arent seeing it directly (unless they read it themselves, but that serves them right)

all social media forums are the same, some nice sections and some not so nice, neither one members are better than the rest.

I do quite enjoy some of the threads, esp the celeb gossip ones, they usually get some celeb scoop way before mainstream media even has a whiff of it.

Given the number of trolls MN has im not surprised they are keeping it on a code basis for now.

MintsPi · 09/02/2024 12:43

hartof · 09/02/2024 11:20

I stuck up for someone who isn't a creator, the thread wasn't about her she was a friend of the creator who had appeared in videos. They were slating her appearance so I stuck up for her ( tattle seems to be exclusive to skinny people who slate anyone over a size 10, this girl wasn't big at all) and got banned. Lovely bunch of people.

Have you never seen the competitive under eating threads on here?!

Hoglet70 · 09/02/2024 13:16

MeinKraft · 09/02/2024 10:31

You want a code so you can join in one of their threads and tell them all off?? This is why MNers don't get codes

No, it's just frustrating never being able to disagree with them. If I disagree or agree with something on here I can reply, can't do it there and I would like to.

Disliking someone ( you don't even know) is one thing. Enjoying a thread that is filled with open racist and misgynistic hate makes you the same as those spouting the hate.

Jessforless · 09/02/2024 13:35

I like Tattle, I don’t remember having to get a code.

And you can contribute to the Markle thread without being racist, you can ignore those comments.

I’ve never seen anymore on Mumsnet laugh about the appearance of a public figure’s toddler aged child.

I’ve also never seen a post making fun of someone’s obvious physical disability.

Even on contentious threads about celebrities like Harry and Meghan, you’ll have posters coming from both sides- it’s not just a free-for-all of hate.

MN is far from perfect but at least there’s an attempt to moderate the site.

TheShellBeach · 09/02/2024 14:30

Tattle is moderated.
