Traitors, is there only me

Just wondered if I’m the only person who hasn’t watched and has no interest in watching traitors, it’s all I see on the main news, most daytime and early evening chat type shows, it’s like an obsession

OP posts:

Yep, zero interest.

Same with Strictly which I have also never watched -, it's getting rammed everywhere.
Watch any other interview show and there it is, shoehorned in as the coolest current thing.
Seen enough clips.

Not for me.

Doingmybest12 · 29/01/2024 06:22

It is odd when the hype spills out into other programmes as if this was an amazing achievement when it is just a game show but I do think it's good tv and I was gripped by poor mollies situation at the end. I really dislike the wording around murder, death and I was unsettled by the fake funeral. I'd like to see a change in that language. It is interesting how easily some people can lie and how being liked means you are above suspicion even when that's totally illogical.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 29/01/2024 06:26

I've watched an episode and didn't enjoy it at all. I normally like Claudia, but hated her in this.

I have the same dislike of Gogglebox. Really cringe worthy.

cryinglaughing · 29/01/2024 06:26

Nope, not seen any of it, I struggle to commit to ongoing programmes like this.

crumblingschools · 29/01/2024 06:28

@Doingmybest12 both DH and I thought the funeral was a step too far

Shoppingfiend · 29/01/2024 06:33

Well murderer games at home (or even set up at hotels) - where people are given part to play and they have to work out the baddy - have been on the go for decades.
It's just a bigger version of this.

Hobbesmanc · 29/01/2024 06:34

Fabulous telly. It's rare that a show really gets all kinds of people talking. It's not like love island. The contestants are more diverse. Obviously fine not to watch it but how can you comment if you've not seen the content. I'm watching the Aussie one now on I player. That's good too

Strugglingtodomybest · 29/01/2024 06:39

I love it, it's fascinating. But I can see that if you're not interested in people and psychology then it wouldn't interest you.

Also, does it count as "reality" TV? I've always thought of it more as a gameshow, with contestants.

Gatekeeper · 29/01/2024 06:42

Nope, me neither. Never seen this or Love Island, Strictly etc

BatshitCrazyWoman · 29/01/2024 06:42

I'm very interested in psychology and what makes people act the way they do. But this is very 'game showy' and I don't like game shows at all. All the pretend seriousness crap was winding me up too! Love watching a drama, but this was like the worst of both worlds for me 😂

TheseLegsDefinitelyUsedToBeLonger · 29/01/2024 06:46

Another one here that hasn't seen it @Hijinks75 - and in common with a few others on this thread, we don't watch any reality TV either. Just isn't our thing tbh. Good for those who do love it though 🙂

See, I'm fascinated by people and psychology... but it isn't real. The people aren't behaving 'normally' and there's every chance they're being fed lines, set up in certain scenarios or are knowingly following a storyline the producers want to portray. That's why I didn't like it.

If it were really, properly real then yes, it would be fascinating. I loved the early series of Big Brother when they were less aware and after a while you saw real interactions (because the cameras were on them 24/7 and most people can't keep up an act all that time).

xsquared · 06/02/2024 18:05

I'm very, very late to the party, but I say don't knock it until you've watched it.

I say it's more of a a game show rather than a reality show.

If you have played Mafia or Werewolf at a party, then this is basically a televised version of it. However, the contestants have to contribute to the prize money by completing various Crystal Maze type challenges during the day, which involves team work.

The discussions around the round table on who they think is a traitor before banishment, is in my opinion, the best part of the show.

Like a lot of people here, I had no interest in it to begin with, but then a friend talked about it during one of our pub quiz nights.

I binged the lot in 3 days. It's compulsive viewing.

I won't say anymore, but you will be rooting for some people and shouting at the TV at others.

DibblysquibblygenX · 26/01/2026 12:15

is it not just people lying really well? cannot see what would be compelling about this. enough of it in real life...

No that isn’t what it is. Try watching it.

CurlewKate · 27/01/2026 13:46

I watched the Celebrity version and loved it, so gave the “muggle” version another try. Still didn’t like it! I don’t like watching people playing for money they really need. Playing for charity is different.

GladysIsMySweetheart · 27/01/2026 17:10

I think the OP is the only rational person in the universe - apart from me of course. If i was a Time Lord with 348 parallell lifetimes i would still not want to waste any of them watching Traitors - I watched a couple of "highlights" and required immediate pure Oxygen resuscitation.

Imagine a place where there are a million things that are more interesting than Traitors. Such a place exists ! and it’s outside your front door !
