What kind of android phone doesn't allow you to choose contacts that override the do not disturb?

Current one is a Motorola.

I also can't tell it to make noise if there is a call but stop noises from emails coming in. So it permanently lives on silent.

I guess they have their own type of android operating system do they?

I haven't had a Motorola but on the other ones I've had they all have options for what you allow to come through the so not disturb.

Annoyingly the way you do it isn't the same from phone to phone but I'm surprised that you don't get any options at all, I'd class that as pretty basic functionality

I actually think this particular model might claim it can do them and then just does not. I gave up trying to make it work. But with noises it's either all on or off. So you get phone calls, email pings, Facebook pings, a barrage of bloody noise that disturbs me, and I know for sure there is no 'turn FB noises off but still get a push notification.'

When we eventually manage to buy a house that doesn't smash every phone we own (4 in 3 months in our rental) I think I will just go back to iPhones for an easier life.

So that is why DHs Motorola makes such a racket, I keep telling him to turn of the noises but he says he can't because he will miss some. I have an iPhone but DH insists on having these Motorolas each time. They don't seem very user friendly but he keeps buying them, he doesn't like change

Yep. The only way around it is to turn all push notifications off and manually check your stuff.

I stopped getting iPhones when they removed the headphone socket and I must say I miss them

I was worried about that too (don’t like Bluetooth headphones) but you can buy a lightning to mini jack cable, it’s tiny, about an inch long and plugs into the power port, with a headphone socket on the end. It’s so small you hardly even notice it. I use mine in the car as connecting over Bluetooth is rubbish in my car.
