What do trick or treaters get at your house?

I’ve made up little bags each containing a fun size chocolate bar (from Lidl), a lollipop, mini bag of jellies, a small chewy bar (like a mini Wham or Refresher), and a sticker.

Then probably only 6, dd1 wrote at school that she’d been ‘trickle-treating’. 😂
She’d had no idea that ‘tricks’ could be involved.
Her teacher had tactfully corrected it.

For cheeky bugger 19-year-old chancers, terrifying the bejesus out of smaller kids with their decaying zombie latex masks and entitled attitude:

Brussels sprouts carefully re-wrapped in original Ferrero Rocher foil casings...

A mini bar of whatever (Snickers, Twix etc) or mini Haribo bag. We get at least 100 kids coming. If there's a bit left towards the end I let them take two - a few very little ones grab a handful!

Ignored, We don't have young children and don't eat sweets so don't keep stuff in the house, plus my husband will be out this evening and I will be doing zoom yoga so not wanting disturbed so the light will be off at the front

Nothing. I absolutely hate this American import of trick or treating. Makes my dogs bark. Fuck off with your begging. Leave me in peace

Not American and not begging.

Guisers get a sweetie in return for a party piece of joke.

Why not just decline to answer the door instead of verbally abusing children.?

Ohdearwhatnow4 · 31/10/2023 11:23

Got loads of tat left from party bags so they will get a random bit of that. Last year we had a lot of kids and the parents asked for gluten free, halal, no dairy list went on, this isn't why im not givingsweets, i did buy some chocolate bars but my older kids got to them first. Also only doing it till 6.15 tonight as dinner will be at 6.30.

backtowinter · 31/10/2023 11:39

Nothing. I'm another one that doesn't answer the door

thaegumathteth · 31/10/2023 13:09

Halloween slapband

DrCoconut · 31/10/2023 13:27

Land mines

Yeah land mines for kids, ha ha the hilarity.

Holly60 · 31/10/2023 19:25

Mini/treat size haribo from us. Love seeing the little ones all dressed up and having a wonderful time.

2Rebecca · 31/10/2023 20:14

I did get a few sweets on the way back from the gym and no one came so we'll have to eat them. I got Terry chocolate segments so something we'll eat. Halloween isn't such a big thing in our part of Scotland. I can't be bothered with Halloween decorations though.

WotNoUserName · 31/10/2023 20:19

I got lots of haribo and maoam, some Tesco chocolate bars and some mini packs of chocolate chip cookies. Currently eating my through what's left.

HappyDaze23 · 31/10/2023 20:25

We were cleaned out before 7pm. Over 100 kids (I had 120 packets of sweets). My two year old loved the constant doorbell and manning the sweet bowl!

Lovemusic82 · 31/10/2023 20:27

We never get any trick or treaters but I buy treats just in case so then I can then eat them when no one turns up. We are eating mini chocolate bars (crunchies, flakes, twirls etc…), what a shame no one came 🤣

burblish · 31/10/2023 20:44

A massive bowl with a mix of different individually wrapped sweets, fun size choc bars, mini Haribo bags and lollies - I let them choose one item each. Usually I take the DC out trick or treating while DH mans the door at home. We never see kids out trick or treating here without an adult supervising them, and everyone is respectful of the unspoken rule that you only knock on houses which have pumpkins or other Halloween decorations out. So, it’s safe, fun, and nobody gets bothered if they don’t want to be.

Optionyougot · 31/10/2023 20:48

We have little paper bags with a piece of fruit, packet of crisps, 2 x fun size chocolate bars and a handful of jellies/lollipop/maoam mix. All the kids come with a joke prepared, though last year we had a boy blast my heart will go on out on a recorder whilst his sister sang along so they got an extra few treats for effort.

Its big in my area, lots of kids come and everyone is polite, follows the "no lights rule" and a fair few came with treats for my dogs in return.
