What do trick or treaters get at your house?

I’ve made up little bags each containing a fun size chocolate bar (from Lidl), a lollipop, mini bag of jellies, a small chewy bar (like a mini Wham or Refresher), and a sticker.

The big bowl will have celebrations, a few Haribo type bags, a few other sweets and there will be a tub of mini roll type things or brownies. One year we had mini glitter pens but some were dismissive, do not done that since

Jewelspun · 30/10/2023 23:04

Fuck all. It would take them ten minutes to walk down our drive so thankfully we don't have the bother.

Blueisacolour · 30/10/2023 23:05

Assorted fun size/treat size chocolate here. A big bowl, one thing each. We don't get many in the village where we live now though - maybe about 15? In our last place we probably got at least 60-80 sort of numbers. I used to leave DH dealing with that while I was enjoying walking around with the youngest. It was great fun, most of the village seemed to come out and socialise, and my step count was always huge!

Halloween is a big affair in our area, we’ll get loads of trick or treaters here.

We’ve made up some sweet bags but also have lots of fun sized chocolate bars, lollipops, fruit shoots and bags of crisps

Houseplanter · 30/10/2023 23:13

Land mines

Oh no sorry, not allowed

Ignored

Fizbosshoes · 30/10/2023 23:17

Nothing here either.

We never celebrated Halloween growing up and I've never really done it with my kids (now teens) I think DD might have been trick or treating once with friends, but not sure if DS has ever been. I just never think of buying treats and we don't decorate the house so I don't imagine anyone would visit

DiscoBeat · 30/10/2023 23:18

I'd love to decorate the house and give out sweets but we don't get anyone here, unfortunately! If we did I would probably have a big cauldron bowl with Haribo mini packs and treat size chocolates. A few spiders, maybe! My kids used to love going (youngest is going for the last time tomorrow) and the Haribos were the most popular.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 30/10/2023 23:20

Celebrations after dd has snaffled all the Maltesers and galaxy. So that’s bounties, snickers, mars, twix and Milky Way.

Barbiegirl2013 · 30/10/2023 23:20

halloween is quite a big thing where I live too so I have also made up wee bags. There is 1 x chocolate Halloween lolly, 1 x chocolate eyeball, 1 x packet of crisps, 2 x mini haribo bags and 1 x Halloween transferable tattoo in each. All from Aldi so nothing too expensive and when they’re gone, they’re gone but my mum always made little bags so I have followed suit. She used to include an apple or orange and some monkey nuts but I decided against them. Though previous posted who mentioned pumpkin faced oranges had made me wish I thought of that!

Zzbutton · 30/10/2023 23:21

I have 35 bags of crisps, 900g bag of swizzler type chewy sweets, bag of lollipops, and 3 bags smaller bags of chewy sweets (and two bags of back up lidl crisp things). Weather is meant to be very wet here tomorrow evening so I’m not sure how many callers I will have, but would hate to run out. Aimed to cover 70-80 kids

Hollydays · 30/10/2023 23:26

Big tubs of wrapped sweets/chocolates. We get lots of trick or treaters as we live in a cul de sac beside a school and most houses decorate. We turn the lights off when we run out which is always early, there's so many kids! 🎃

WildFlowerBees · 30/10/2023 23:28

Ignored, I may put out some fresh broccoli with a sign saying 'help yourself' 😬 they knock regardless if you're in darkness with zero Halloween decorations.

xogossipgirlxo · 30/10/2023 23:35

Celebrations, but luckily not many trick or treaters come, so I’m hoping we will keep most to ourselves😂

Snugglemonkey · 30/10/2023 23:38

I have also made up wee bags. Ours have a maoam chew bar, lolly, chocolate lolly and a wee bag of haribo. I only made 50. Once they are gone, I will put the lights out.

BitofaStramash · 30/10/2023 23:40

Fun size chocolate bars. 2each.

We get 100s at our door.

Winteriscoming12 · 30/10/2023 23:41

Oh crap! Nothing, unless I get my arse in gear tomorrow. If I do, then wrapped sweets from Aldi or Lidl, if they have any Halloween selection boxes left, or if they dont, then little bags of haribo probably.

Maddy70 · 30/10/2023 23:43

Nothing. I absolutely hate this American import of trick or treating. Makes my dogs bark. Fuck off with your begging. Leave me in peace

Trick or treating isn’t American.

We don't really get many trick or treaters so we just buy a big bag of a variety of sweets from the local shop, pop it in a bowl and whoever comes can take what they like from the bowl. If we got more coming round then we'd probably be more sparing than letting them grab a fist full but we only usually get one or two so it gets it out of my house again!

Alargeoneplease89 · 30/10/2023 23:46

Nothing this year as last year the local kids annoyed me by taking handfuls and the year before I put something at the end of the drive and some ran off with the box - it was cable tied to the bench as well!

So this year they get nothing.. which is ashame for the younger ones but people letting their feral kids out with no supervision or manners has ruined it. 😂Rant over

TheValueOfEverything · 30/10/2023 23:47

A sweet and a smile from a decorated doorstep

BellaAndDave · 30/10/2023 23:47

We never get any due to where we live. Most of us who live outwith the village make up bags of sweets or make things and pop them outside the village free larder. There’s always 2 huge 1/2 barrels put out for people who live too far out to put things in for the children. I did 20 toffee apples and 20 chocolate apples this year and bags of cinder toffee. We’ve always made things for the guisers. It’s not called trick or treating where we live.

I think it’s a very British tradition too. I was definitely doing it in the 70s. With a carved swede instead of a pumpkin!

bossybloss · 30/10/2023 23:49

Wrapped sweets and lollies 😃

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 30/10/2023 23:59

I’ve bought a few bags of chocolate lollipops which were very popular last year. I also have a big box of swizzles sweets incase we run out. We live round the corner from a primary school and get absolutely loads of trick or treaters. We ran out last year so this year I’ve probably bought too much.
