Toastie filling ideas

Hi All,

As the title suggests, I'm looking for some toastie filling ideas. Currently on a tight budget and need some ideas as to what I can put inside my toastie maker aside from the classic cheese and beans combo.

TIA x

Black pudding or cheese and onion is a favourite in this house

Mozzarella, tomato and basil. Plenty of salt and pepper.

Thin layer of tomato puree, whatever pizza toppings you like, (anchovies and olives for me), and grated cheese.
Tuna and feta.
Leftover chilli, I particularly like bean chilli.
Mozzarella and pesto.
Mature cheddar and marmite.
Banana and peanut butter.

Orangewall · 30/10/2023 14:56

Cheese and marmite 🤤

Ah this has me yearning for the sadly disappeared company called Cheese Postie, who did a monthly subscription box of brilliant and innovative cheese toastie fillings.

What a shame that it no longer exists. 🥪

mrsbyers · 30/10/2023 15:01

Bolognese or chilli
tuna and mushroom soup

TheFlis · 30/10/2023 15:01

Anything you would top a pizza with should work well. Cheese, chorizo and red onion is a fave of mine.

ShutTheDoorBabe · 30/10/2023 15:04

Dark chocolate and some cheese

Tuna mayo and cheese

Beans and cheese

Cheese and red onion

Bush and Richie on the radio did a thing about making and eating a range of toasties but I can't remember any of their suggestions!

Cheese, tomato, onion, green pepper, pepperoni/ham/salami. All sliced very thin.

Delicious and like little mini pizzas.

viques · 30/10/2023 15:12

Don’t forget to put Mayo on the outside of the toastie so whatever you decide to put inside, the outside has a delicious crunch.

ruby1234 · 30/10/2023 15:13

Marshmallows, glace cherries and chocolate buttons. Serve with ice cream.
Fabulous!

I use butter, and put mayo on the inside if I want it.

Anchovie and jalapeño is my current obsession. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 30/10/2023 15:18

I love anchovies, I eat them from the jar.

I used to put butter on the outside, but then tried mayo ( hmmm, I wonder where I got that tip from eh MN?) . It gives a lovely golden crunch to the outside of the toastie.
