I really should have heeded the warnings..

How long will it last?!

I had a similar experience with Coolmints on guide camp. It must have been 40 years ago now and I can still remember the smell inside the toilet tent.....

May your bowels be strong @Houseplanter. See you on the other side!

Heatherbell1978 · 06/10/2023 17:28

I learned this after spending a summer in the states in the 90s where they have sugar-free everything!! Yep it's a thing.

Oops!
I don't touch sugar free anything for this reason.
BTW, blistex, the lip stuff is great for ring sting.

mintbiscuit · 06/10/2023 17:37

OMG I am crying here with laughter

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/10/2023 17:40

OP how is the sugar free shit fast diet going?

Condo · 06/10/2023 17:44

Dulcolax pico liquid results in a similar exp

Kellioo · 06/10/2023 17:46

I've been through this, 2nd day in a new job too. The noises my bowels were making were horrific and the rest. I lost 2lb! Wouldn't advise this diet though.

Dizzydeers · 06/10/2023 17:47

When DD was around 2 I bought her some sugar free sweets from the chemist when we were staying at my mums house.

The lady serving told me not to give her too many. I thought it was just because 2 years old shouldn’t really eat sweets but by buying sugar free I was being a great parent.
The poor girl did puddles of shit all around my mums house. Wasn’t a fun day for any of us and I never bought sugar free sweets again!

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 06/10/2023 17:49

Stevia does it to me too, and they are sneaking that into things.
I didn't realise until I drank a bottle of Lipton Iced Tea that was not marked as sugar free.
I honestly thought I was going to shit out my kidneys.

Houseplanter · 06/10/2023 17:50

@MrsMoastyToasty 2lbs down, thank you for asking.

Feeling rather rung out and tired but I'm hopeful the deluge has stopped.

Presumably that's not unexpected though?

Yes, I found out there from a packet of 'sugar free chocolate mints'. It wasn't as bad as the op and those reviews describe, fortunately it was only a small packet.

Professionalmess · 06/10/2023 18:08

I did this intentionally about a month ago. Post-op, I'd been given too many painkillers and my usual clockwork gut had ground to a halt. I had nothing otc in stock and wasn't well enough to go out.

I ate two full packets of the sugar free boiled sweets, a few hand fulls of raisins and a curry. (I was desperate). I never felt such relief.

MrsCarson · 06/10/2023 18:10

They have chocolate with Stevia in too, this has the same effect.
I give the sugar free gummies and Polos to the old ladies at work as a treat, but they don't eat the whole box.

eandz13 · 05/10/2023 22:30

It's a bit like if senakot tablets tasted really good, so you ate the whole box.

Best explanation ever! 😂

Showdogworkingdog · 06/10/2023 18:18

I once made this mistake. My belly made the strangest and loudest noises before things got really nasty. I was at a customer’s house at the time, so fucking embarrassing. Took a couple of days with me, but I’m prone to ibs.
I’ve never touched bastard sugar free anything since. All the best Flowers

ShitMermaid · 06/10/2023 19:31

I remember going on a date once and eating a super spicy tofu style burger (back in the days when no one was vege so vege food was pretty much made of polystyrene or fluff) the noise and smell wasn’t good. We went to the cinema and it was very quiet. I kept looking around trying to look like I was wondering who the hell caused it.
Didnt get a second date and he was a fine looking man 😪

timetorefresh · 06/10/2023 19:36

They have crisps in America that are fried in oil the body can't absorb (or at least they did 20 years ago and I doubt it's changed). Some back packing friends and I were sharing a bag, without realising and some kind stranger pointed it out to us. We read the back of the bag and it said "may cause anal leakage". They needed it in big writing on the front

ShitMermaid · 06/10/2023 19:37

I don’t think they would sell that many with that description on 😁

Condo · 06/10/2023 20:39

@ErrolTheDragon no but having taken the tablets thought the effect would be similar - it was far more explosive!

PangramAddict · 06/10/2023 20:47

Lee Mack does a very funny "bit" about this on Graham Norton.

That Staten Island post brings back terrible memories of having an episode in the 9/11 section of the park. The shame.

When Lee Mack ate a laxative and went on stage… 😂💩 | The Graham Norton Show - BBC

Oh god is it the foam sweets? I literally thought I'd shit out my whole stomach, intensities, bowel, liver and colon when I ate a whole pack!!

🤣🤣

Kittensat36 · 06/10/2023 21:03

I was once a bit unwise with sugar free wine gums. next day, the wind was so bad, I actually passed out on the bus.

Then the theme to Hawaii 5-0 started up and I surfed off on a poonami so big I had to gather my skirt up between my legs (yay for a black maxi-dress). Fortunately, I was near my Mum's when it happened.
