Which episode did you find scariest?
Mine was Harry Called. I literally felt petrified driving to Tesco at 11am listening to it in beautiful sunshine.

Oh noooo

Controversially I like the theme music and find myself singing ‘I have these thoughts’ etc quite often.

Danny Robbins was a guest on RHLSTP (Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast) book club recently if anyone fancies checking that out - it’s a nice chat, especially as ‘have you ever seen a ghost?’ is a RHLSTP regular emergency question.

piscofrisco · 14/10/2023 17:55

I like the theme tune too!
I quite enjoyed the telly version though the case was a bit uneventful. Next week some sort of poltergeist!

desikated · 21/10/2023 12:59

Harry Called is genuinely unnerving. I do think it was his mates extending the joke - but that, in itself, is unnerving!!!

It's good to have the 'experts' on. Although, the Team Believer experts do seem to have the most outlandish 'job' titles. I think the expert sceptics do a good job of highlighting rational/empirical explanations without just saying, 'don't be silly'. (obviously, I'm team sceptic).

Danny Robbins is so enthusiastic and earnest which does make me smile.

If anyone's into this topic, then i really REALLY recommend Kate Summerscale's book 'The Haunting of Alma Fielding'. It is amazing. It's a true story, and it is told with care. It gives a really good historical/social account of why poltergeists became so 'significant' at certain points in 20th Century. Don't want to spoiler it - but honestly, it was brilliant. Better than her other books.

ISaySteadyOn · 21/10/2023 15:19

I would second that recommendation.

ButDaddyILoveHim · 21/10/2023 17:10

I would third it - really great book, beautifully written and I thought it very moving.

Sorry I know I am reviving a very old thread here but I've just started to relisten to them... I'm interested to know how much people believe them or if they#re just good stories. I've just listened to the Elizabeth Dacre episode, and it's brilliant ghost story and I really enjoyed it but it's just a retelling of the Shining and other bits of ghost stories. Also most of the US ones felt the same - really far fetched.

That said there are some others that genuinely unnerved me - Room 611 is terrifying and there was one set in a Canadian holiday rental too which I thought was really frightening.

I really enjoyed listening to them, and I would say I'm somewhere in the middle of team believer / sceptic in general...

I

House for sale in Tudor Close Rottingdean *which I think is where the Elizabeth DAcre series was set, and have to say it does look pretty spooky.

Loopytiles · 09/10/2025 08:07

I think some are made up by the protagonist.
Harry Called, for example.

My favourite remains Bloody Hell Ken!

emilyinrutshire · 09/10/2025 08:50

Still, they're great stories :)

ThePoshUns · 12/10/2025 14:41

I think a lot of them are drug induced, certainly the bothy one is!

I agree. I don't believe someone could hear someone else's heart beating either. Which is what he claims. That his friend could hear his heart beating.

I can hear my sibling’s but that’s only because they have a metal heart valve! 🤣

If annyone is waiting for the next series of Uncanny I’m listening to Haunted with Danny Robins from 2017 (I found it in Apple Podcasts). It’s like a beta-version of Uncanny, not as polished but fills the gap.

Not an actual episode but I looked up the photos on Danny Robins website which a woman had come across on her phone. She and her husband kept seeing a mysterious little girl but these photos seemed unconnected. The photos had been taken whilst the woman and her husband were out doing the school run. DR had put the photos on his website so the you wouldn't accidentally come across them in your newsfeed or whatever. I was intrigued of course and looked up the photos. When I opened them I physically jumped! Creepiest thing I have ever seen! Shock

Can you please tell me where to find them on his website? I've had no luck searching.

ThreeRingCircus · 14/10/2025 14:25

@emilyinrutshire I am a real Uncanny fan, I listen to every podcast, watched the TV series and went to see the Uncanny stage show on tour. I am firmly Team Sceptic. I find the psychology of it really interesting and just enjoy the stories for what they are. I think some people are straight-up lying but that most people truly think they saw something and believe what they are saying..... I just don't think that what they saw is the spirit of a dead person.

I do feel for Dr Ciaran O'Keefe sometimes trying to come up with a rational explanation when part of him must want to say "you are mistaken, lying or you were on drugs." 🤣🤣🤣

This is the original image.

For the @Arraminta asking about the image the woman found on her phone. I think this was proven to be her daughter when they reversed the negative or something like that.
