I want something Autumnal. But I don't know what.

I'm tired, aching and grouchy and want something autumny and comforting but I don't know what. Anyone care to make a suggestion?

What do I want? A pumpkin mug? To go conker collecting? A string of felted bat lights? A new blanket? A spiced hot chocolate? Candles? A witch costume?

If anyone can work out what I'm after I'd be grumpily grateful.

You want to go to HomeSense to see what you want Grin

You then also want to get on TikTok for inspiration on what else you want 🎃

Oioicaptain · 22/09/2023 10:50

You are after a fair isle wool jumper, a chunky cord skirt, a mug of Horlicks and a cuddle with a hedgehog on the sofa OP!

I have just bought a cord skirt thanks to this thread! haha

.... and I've just bought a cord blazer from Vinted and am hankering after a tweed fedora! Damn you OP! 😀

For affordable candles, Tesco have some lovely ones in coloured jars at the moment! The cork lid thing has imprinted pictured on. They smell surprisingly lovely and seem to not have that harsh, chemically smell that many cheap candles have.

A new notebook? It's back to school season always a good time for new stationery.

Blackberry picking?
Apple pie?
Roast pork with crackling?
New main crop potatoes?

Flannel bedsheets?
A blanket?

Boots?
Wool tights?
Layering?

An open fire?

You want to get a soup going in the crockpot (have a loaf of crusty bread on hand for when it's ready), go to a bookstore/cafe and get two books (one lighthearted, one speculative fiction) and an autumn themed latte, a walk outside while sipping your drink, then home to change into thermal jammies, eat your soup and toast and read a book.

tattygrl · 22/09/2023 13:54

Ooh, ooh - start planning out how you're going to decorate for halloween (if you do)!

Daisyislazy · 22/09/2023 13:55

Hot stone massage, bath, new jammies, fresh bed, candles , glass of red wine

BlurpBlorp · 22/09/2023 14:18

A glossy gel manicure in a rich autumnal red or brown and a ring with a moon or a leaf on to wrap around a lovely warm, cinnamony-drink.

piscofrisco · 22/09/2023 14:44

@tattygrl I've just bought a few of those candles and you are right-they are surprisingly good!

I think you want a crumble of some sort op.

Vebrithien · 23/09/2023 08:37

This is what you need, @ATrulyMagnificentBroom

Smoked sea salt flakes.

Open the pot, and you are taken to a misty evening, with the smell of a wood bonfire.

Adds a lovely autumnal flavour to scrambled eggs, soup and roast potatoes.

My pot has lasted over a year...

I went full Autumn this week.
Made a stew.
Made an apple crumble.
Got my warmer duvet out.
Got my warm PJs, sheepskin slippers and thick, fluffy socks out of storage.
Dusted off my raincoat and boots.
Tomorrow I’m going for a walk in the woods.

I fancy a cinnamon-ey candle now.

Loving this thread!

piscofrisco · 23/09/2023 09:54

Just added smoked sea salt to my shopping order. Bloody love Autumn!

piscofrisco · 23/09/2023 09:58

Dh keeps laughing at me because every time he comes home from anywhere I've added a bit of Autumn trim up. He feels over run by pumpkins and such

lucysmam · 23/09/2023 09:59

@piscofrisco I've been slowly adding bits about the place here too! I'm enjoying doing it, the girls faces are like 🙄

Casserole with dumplings. Fish and chips with gravy and buttered bread. A warm, snuggly jumper, fluffy socks and a cuddly cat.

Gravy with fish & chips ?

It was Equinox at 07:50 this morning !!

Apple picking today when the sun has evaporated the dew off the skins. As the days now get shorter the trees sense it and the apples will go soft and fall off if left. We will dry them once picked and place them in the apple rack to stay cool and dry over winter. We will have some cookers this evening baked with some soft fruit inside and some creme fraiche. The beetroot will be picked later, cooked then put whole into jars for over wintering.

Some beef and shallots with red wine are going in the slow cooker at midnight. This will be warmed through tomorrow afternoon. But tonight we are cooking langoustines outside over the fire with some home made bread, tomatoes and salad leaves, cheeses afterwards. We are also making some fudge and toffees using spare ingredients up. This afternoon we may go for a swim in the river but it is much, much cooler today than it has been.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/09/2023 10:38

I’m definitely adding smoked salt to my shopping list.

The Co-Op has very cute velvet mushrooms, which I’m trying to find a reason for.

marketing101 · 23/09/2023 10:38

New candle and a chai latte

PuppyMonkey · 23/09/2023 10:42

A duffle coat.

LDNista · 23/09/2023 11:08

Smoked sea salt sounds amazing. I want! @Vebrithien

Excitingnewusername · 23/09/2023 11:40

My favourite autumn marker is changing perfumes. Current favourite is a perfume people dupe oil of Feu de Bois*. I smell like very a classy bonfire right now.

(*I don't know if it is an accurate dupe)

Eyesopenwideawake · 23/09/2023 11:42

A caribbean cruise? #helpful.
