I want something Autumnal. But I don't know what.

I'm tired, aching and grouchy and want something autumny and comforting but I don't know what. Anyone care to make a suggestion?

What do I want? A pumpkin mug? To go conker collecting? A string of felted bat lights? A new blanket? A spiced hot chocolate? Candles? A witch costume?

If anyone can work out what I'm after I'd be grumpily grateful.

I watched practical magic this afternoon! A perfect autumn film

ATrulyMagnificentBroom · 21/09/2023 21:37

Right I have had a bath (but no suitable candle, grump grump), a very large piece of chocolate and orange cake, and have got out my new winter pyjamas and sheepskin slippers.

Tomorrow I will take DD for a conker/acorn/crunchy leaves walk somewhere in our wellies (we did actually go puddle jumping yesterday which is probably what got me started) and I'll maybe look on Etsy for some felted lights. Pumpkins or autumn leaf ones seem appropriate, but I do think bat ones would be good too 🦇 I like bats and they're always swooping over the garden in the evenings.

I might buy this necklace.

I haven't spotted any cord out in the wild yet. Are we talking needlecord, jumbo or regular?

Has anyone bought any?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/09/2023 22:12

Toad in the hole
Shepherds pie
Rice pudding

Boots and opaque tights with mini skirts in cord or velvet

Tweed jackets (except I don’t have one)

Doggymummar · 21/09/2023 22:38

I ordered 3 pairs of cords off Vinted loads of cashmere sweaters and a heated throw from eBay that is from the Lakeland shop half price. Got my pumpkin wax melds from village wax melts and my Autumn tea just arrived from Amazon. I'm ready 😄

Maple hazelnut 🍁is the new Pumpkin Spice for me this year 🎃

Tumbleweed101 · 22/09/2023 06:56

A walk to collect conkers - they are just about ready to start falling. That is always my first autumnal thing to do (I’ve had my own kids now work in a nursery so its been a end of September ritual for last 25yrs).

In October visit to a pumpkin patch.

Orherwise I do a autumn house clean then get out soft blankets and cushions and candles for the house.

Aldi have spiced pumpkin and apple fabric conditioner! It smells lovely.

I bought new boots and jeans, have had our log burner kit all week and had seasonal candles lit and the blanket out. Love a cosy autumn

hexsnidgett · 22/09/2023 07:33

Asda have sone lovely guinea pig duvets. And cushions and blankets, so much lovely stuff.
I just need the weather to cool down properly.

Mushrooms fried in butter piled onto buttered toast or toasted muffins, or used to fill individual Yorkshire puddings.
Mushroom stroganoff or home made mushroom soup.

A glass or two of sherry with some spiced nuts or Gentleman's Relish on toast.

Keep warm with a snuggley cardigan or soft scarf. Get a new lipstick in an autumnal shade.

I am in Dubai at the moment, leaving for the UK tomorrow. Thoughts of some lovely new Moshulu slippers and binge-watching the new series of Virgin River is what's getting me through the 38 degree heat today and an 8 hour flight Grin

I am making sausage casserole tomorrow. My dh is hyperventilating

This thread's been lovely to read 😊

It's also likely to cost me money for a cord skirt, and couple of new to me jumpers, from Vinted 🙈

A duffle coat, fingerless gloves and a bonfire

I think that we should be friends. Dream life!

StoatofDisarray · 22/09/2023 08:04

It's the autumn equinox tomorrow so I guess traditionally you should be finding balance in your life (equal day and night) and celebrating the harvest by eating seasonal food or making jam!

Gilmore Girls binge!

This! Love Gilmore girls.

I haven't been able to find any nice PJs for my tween/teen girls or myself. Where do I look?! We are freezing in summer pyjamas.

A bowl of soup with cheese on toast

This. And some cords.

I think the only cord thing I own is a blue miniskirt. Maybe I need to dig that out and pair it with thermal tights and boots.
I might look on Vinted for something else.

I would love a velvet mini skirt. Hmm.

I like toad in the hole but despite being an alright cook, I just can't get the batter right on this.

Very much yes 👍 to rice pudding.

Duvets with guinea pigs on, or duvets for guinea pigs? Either is fine because if it's the latter, I'm allowed to go out and buy guinea pigs to go with the duvets, right?
