Does this work for a wedding guest?

I absolutely love this dress and it's. A gorgeous fit, but I'm worried I might come across as too formal- please let me know if I'm overthinking!

Context: wedding is in Istanbul, in the evening and the bride has told me she loves it, but I just want to sensecheck. I've only recently lost enough weight to wear anything like this and I'm still trying to get used to adapting my style from constantly covering up all my bumpy bits.

That dress is lovely and I really like it's simplicity. I would wear with some lovely dangly earrings. You will look and feel fabulous in that.

Stunning OP!

Bored1000 · 01/09/2023 18:38

if you love it go for it and wear it with confidence and enjoy your new slimmer figure.
there will probably be a mix of less formal / more formal dresses there anyway.
i think it’s beautiful.

Dress looks good, it's not my bag as quite exposed arms and back but you could dress it down by adding the right accessoriesif youre not 100% sure. A silky scarf in contrasting colours could work too as can be formal and chill at the same time.

Maybe with a blinged up denim jacket, wooden accessories and casual sandals. If abroad maybe it'll be warm enough to get away with just that? If its a very formal set up you can ditch the jacket and keep the scarf.

Good luck!

FFS no one wears a denim jacket to a wedding!

The dress is gorgeous, I'd defineltey wear it.

OP congrats on the weight loss and it's definitely not too formal.

You need to now think about hair and makeup. I'd be going for a slightly understated red carpet look - glamorous is normal for weddings in that part of the world. You will not look out of place. It's kind of viewed as disrespectful not to put the effort in.

I miss having the opportunity to dress up like that these days (not that I could ever have pulled that dress off, even with magic underwear!).

Anyway, if you're not used to dressing like that, wear whatever shoes you'll be wearing around the house and in front of the mirror. And on the day remember, shoulders back and down! Wear it with confidence and have a great time!

I love it! My friend wore a brown dress to a wedding recently with gold shoes and it looked lovely.

BrucieBru · 01/09/2023 21:15

It’s lovely, go for it!

Ejismyf · 01/09/2023 23:19

Love it

PawsAndReflection · 02/09/2023 00:55

Quick update: I wore it and it was perfect!
Would highly recommend a skid bodysuit (there's a cut out 'down there to wee out for all the questions Blush)

Had a cream pashmina I wear for the service then took it off for dancing, and for those of you who gave context on turkish weddings you were 100% right. If anything I was underdressed- there were people in actual ballgowns!!

Thank you again everyone who has nice comments, I'm not sure I would have had the confidence to wear it otherwise Flowers I do love this forum.

The dress looks amazing so I'd say go for it!

Just one silly question - how do you pee in a body suit if it's full length?

Carefully haha

Creamteasandbumblebees · 02/09/2023 08:04

I think it's gorgeous!

Mugaloaf · 02/09/2023 08:20

I'm pleased it went down well. It's a gorgeous dress.

If I had the figure (I totally don't!), I would wear it to a wedding in the UK too.

Arniesleftleg · 02/09/2023 13:47

It's stunning and I'm sure you would look beautiful in it. I'd wear it to a wedding.

I think it’s gorgeous. And perfect. I’d probably wear it with an light/white oversized blazer with sleeves pushed up, during the day

What???

An oversized white blazer over that lovely dress presumably? It wouldn't go in the slightest!

Baba197 · 02/09/2023 18:11

Gorgeous! Congrats on loosing enough weight to wear this- Wear and enjoy!

feelingfree17 · 02/09/2023 21:48
