Chin Hairs FFS

Why do these pesky hairs seem to hide in plain sight!

Had a scour of my chin before I went away and now i'm here they all seem to have sprouted out of nowhere. Bright mirror lights are showing all of them up!!

Tried to get them out (forgot my tweezers) and they spring back on themselves like christmas ribbon you've scissored. Aaarrgghhh

No one tells you about this stuff!

I had black hairs growing from moles ( yuk!) And then a chin hair but with repeated plucking they don't come back.

TheDogsMother · 13/08/2023 21:38

Seemingly overnight a jet black 1cm hair appeared on my chin. How long had it really been there glistening in the sun.

BerriesandLeaves · 13/08/2023 21:42

I've got one of these mirrors. Godsend!

WhateverMate · 13/08/2023 21:46

OMG I've found my bearded tribe.

What I don't understand is, I'll pull the tip of a tiny hair out and it's about 3 inches long. HOW is there room in my face for it all??!! 😯

And don't start me on the nylon white ones I can feel but never see, even in a magnified mirror!!

They're like fucking guitar strings 🤬

Daisymay2 · 13/08/2023 21:46

@madeinmanc I had electrolysis on chin hairs and really dark wiry ones on my upper lip. The chin hairs responded very quickly. Even the beautician was surprised that some only needed one treatment. Now I'm in my dotage, I have an occasional electrolysis top up on any new ones that emerge. I also had three dark horrors on my nose treated at the end of last year, one took two zaps but so far so good. She won't treat the hair growning out of a mole on my neck, but it seems better now it has gone white.
I wish I had done it years before I finally plucked (!) up the courage.

SM4713 · 13/08/2023 21:48

I read a medical paper once that said that many women assume it's a single, repeating chin hair- where as, in fact, multiple ones are erupting timer after time 😱

I suspect I'm in peri, in my mid 40's and recently discovered a 1 inch, wispy hair growing out the centre of my forehead- like a very, sad unicorn 😫

Snippit · 13/08/2023 21:53

The only way to get rid of unwanted hairs forever is electrolysis. I’ve got the buggers, luckily they’re blonde but because there so bloody wiry they can be noticeable 🙄

Whilst out for a drink with my hubby he noticed one and offered to pull it out, in the pub! What a knob 🤦‍♀️

I’m going to book some electrolysis to get rid, bloody menopause. I also take testosterone and according to Davina it doesn’t turn you into a hairy monkey, liar. Wherever I rub it in it increases hair growth and it’s dark, chuffing fed up of being a woman.

I'm sure they grow more in the sun!! My daughter is under instructions that if I'm ever in a coma, she's to visit regularly with tweezers and a strong light 🤣🤣

😂 My sister and I have made the same agreement! I’m sure we’ll have more
important things to worry about if it ever comes to pass, but it’s a genuine worry we both have!

Menopants · 13/08/2023 21:59

I just shave them now

PurpleSky300 · 13/08/2023 21:59

After having the implant, I seemed to sprout patches of chin-beard overnight. I use a magnifying mirror and a Tweezerman every second day or so to keep them under control, supplemented by dermaplaning / dry-shaving my chin if I've got stubble I can't tweeze out. Looking to try electrolysis in the future because the in-grown hairs, spots etc are a nightmare.

GarlicGrace · 13/08/2023 22:07

I've got so many of the fuckers now, I epilate. Yes, it hurts! Started off tweezing 'em every morning, then they multiplied so much it would've taken all day.

For something else to look forward to, my mother found hers growing back so fast that the only sensible option now is to shave twice a day. Unlike her, I do let mine go wild for a few days - until they've gone long and weird. This means I have something very similar to a teenage boy's moustache & beard more often than I'm smoothly hairless 😳

Yes to the strange eyebrow hairs! People think my brows are suffering from previous over-plucking. Not at all - it's that they are replacing their lovely, smooth, black hairs with thick, wiry, white ones that shoot out at 90° from my face. I have to cut them down or pull them out, so my eyebrows consist mainly of gaps & stubble.

I don't know whether I'm more angry at my hormones or youthful beauty standards!

Fondantginger · 13/08/2023 22:09

Thank you for uniting the bearded tribe!
My hair is very fair but I’m conscious of lots of fine hairs across my face and towards my neck. I pluck the thicker chin ones regularly.
Any recommendations for what I need to blast them all? The Philips Lumea, or any other great products?

artishard · 13/08/2023 22:11

I feel the beardy pain too. I was complaining about one of the buggers having appeared out of nowhere to one of my old managers. He unbelievably reached for my chin and plucked it out in one fell swoop with his bare hands. I wish I was joking 😂

LadyRoughDiamond · 13/08/2023 22:15

Another yes to epilating - this has changed my life!!! Plus, the little light on the epilator is great at locating rogue hairs. I use mine on cheek peach fuzz, moustache and chin, and suspect I’d look like Noel Edmunds without it.

What epilator would you suggest?

I think it needs to be written into all care plans 🤣🤣

Hestia2023 · 13/08/2023 22:20

The thing that annoys me most is not the hairs - I can pluck those - but it’s the small red lumps where you know a hair is trying to grow out. My chin in particular is often red and bumpy 🙁

I have one of those super high magnifying mirrors, it’s great and I want to get a mini one for holidays.

FlyMeToDunoon · 13/08/2023 22:20

Philips Lumea reduced mine and then when the wiry white ones appeared I got some electrolysis. Covid lockdown put a stop to that and I haven't been back as it was £££.
So yes, every few days.
Top lip I thread but not very regularly.
It's a frickin pain. Literally.

How do you dry shave your chin? And what do you dermaplane with? I have the same problem, sometimes there's stubble that's very visible but too short to get a grip on with tweezers. Bloody fed up of it. And agree about testosterone .. I put it on the inside of my thighs and got lots of dark hairs growing right down the inside of my legs to my knees!

BerriesandLeaves · 13/08/2023 22:32

If I shaved mine instead of plucking I think it would look like George Michael's designer stubble.

I've got this one. Presume they're all much of a muchness, though.

I used to use the "Hollywood Browzer" razor but then I started buying cheap Wilkos ones from Amazon and they were just as good. Some people put oil on their face first (to reduce any irritation) - I think that's known as 'oilplaning' - but personally I just clean my face in the shower, put a bit of powder/talc on my chin when I come out and gently shave off all the peach fuzz and any stubbly bits.

When DH’s grandma was in a home his dad used to go over every day with an electric razor.

Yes! You feel the spiky bastard, spend the next hour trying to grab it with the tweezers and it’s about 6 inches long.

I got one of those electric whizzy sticks to get rid of all the peach fuzz. Works a dream on the fine fluff but when you go over one of those long hairs it really tugs and stings!

I was given one of these by a friend but have been hesitant about using it on blonde fuzz incase it becomes grey thick fuzz?

Any opinion?
