What's good in Morrison's?

I've recently moved to a new house where Morrison's is within walking distance. It's one supermarket I've never used before. Wondered if there's anything particularly nice there, as I'm finding it a bit bewildering at the moment!

Agree with @ginghamstarfish - there is nothing good at Morrisons.

Morrisons stores vary considerably, stock is geared toward location, buying habits of regular customers and demographics.
One persons sweeping annihilation of their local store doesn’t mean they all are.
For example, we have a mediocre down at heel medium sized way overpriced Waitrose as our main store here, constantly understocked, regular items withdrawn, items not available, poor quality veg, especially potatoes, when they have them. However I wouldn’t say Waitrose are rubbish in a blanket drop when the large light clean well stocked Waitrose in Wallingford is excellent.
Morrisons is fine for basic stuff, they have good offers with a MoreCard.
M&S Food Stores, Waitrose, Ocado necessary for anything special,
fancy or foreign.

Spicy chicken pasta from the salad bar!

Crikeyalmighty · 04/08/2023 14:43

@ThelmaBorden I would totally agree with that.

Pick n mix bread - especially the pretzels and olive bread
The salad bar
Salt and pepper cobs
Indian snacks
Dairy free mango yoghurts (though they haven't had them in stocks for months)
Own brand smoothie cartons similar to innocent smoothie ones but cheaper
Donuts especially the raspberry jam ones

They do a pesto, pine nut and Parmesan hummus which is veryyy good.
Their ploughman’s mature cheese and pickle dip is really nice too

Longley Farm cottage cheese.
The deli counter, fish counter and butcher's.
The bakery aisle, the croissants are lovely, the jam doughnuts are the best of any supermarket.
Mine sells huge tubs of Lancashire Farm plain yoghurt which are good value as my family gets through so much yoghurt. Also, mine sells mango lassi in bottles, which the DCs love.
Their own brand luxury vanilla ice cream was nice but they haven't had it in stock for ages.
I use their little boxes of chopped frozen ginger, garlic, chilli etc which have stopped me from buying and then not using and wasting the fresh stuff.

My Morrison's doesn't send Longley Farm cottage cheese, but Poundland randomly does.

Their made in store fish pies, about a fiver, no rubbery prawns to come across unexpectedly.

The fruit scones from the fresh bakery section are excellent.

Cheese and onion rolls and vegan sausage rolls.

Tubs of (I think) 12 little onion bhajis

Cheese bread rolls

Also the only place I’ve found that sells the branded frozen pizza dough with beer - have forgotten the brand
