What's good in Morrison's?

I've recently moved to a new house where Morrison's is within walking distance. It's one supermarket I've never used before. Wondered if there's anything particularly nice there, as I'm finding it a bit bewildering at the moment!

I think their meat is very good quality. Chovi Alioli is addictive! Find it near the dips in the chilled aisle in a yellow tub, if you like garlic you will love this! Their gourmet collection , which changes occasionally is good, we’ve tried the Tomapork pork chops, cheese and jalapeño hotdogs, pork gyros and ribs. I like their bakery too. The savers range is good value. I get savers cheese, butter, and mixed beef, and mixed salad peppers among other stuff. I also buy stuff out of their wonky range too.

I'm surprised at the morrisons hate! It's my favourite one, after asda.

Is there a cafe there? The fish and chips is superb!

FoamRoller · 03/08/2023 20:02

Salt and pepper rolls 🥰

Turquoisa80 · 03/08/2023 20:04

The croissants, fresh pizzas, fresh fish and meat are good. They have a salad bar too which is great

Diversion · 03/08/2023 20:04

If you are a meat eater, their meat is British and very good.

BlackForestCake · 03/08/2023 20:05

They have cuts of meat that other supermarkets don't, and a wide range of offal. Much more fish too.

Toohardtofindaproperusername · 03/08/2023 20:06

Thye usually have good fish counter.
Jam donuts are moreish
Fruit is fine
I shop there a lot between its close by ... its fine. Not waitrose and I wouldnr buy any morrisons brand of anything, but its fine
Reductions are usually rubbish ...

TenOhSeven · 03/08/2023 20:09

Came on to say salt and pepper rolls but I've been beaten to it! The thick sliced tiger bread (from the bread aisle rather than the bakery) is also good.

Knackeredhamster · 03/08/2023 20:13

Mexican 4 dip selection
Their own sliced packet wholemeal bread

Loo rolls

Cinnamo · 03/08/2023 20:13

Their butcher counter, and the salt and pepper baguettes

not the fruit though.

fusspot23 · 03/08/2023 20:15

The salad bar surely? Often go out of my way just for a Morrie Sal.

Also the bakery and the other deli counters. I like their fresh spring rolls.

dementedpixie · 03/08/2023 20:17

I went to morrisons this week for their strawberries as they are nice scottish ones just now (I'm in scotland). Used their 3 for 2 offer to get cherries and grapes too.

Jk987 · 03/08/2023 20:51

Their fruit scones from the bakery. The Nutmeg children's clothes are sweet and their own brand nappies.

Ragwort · 03/08/2023 21:11

I don't think it's too bad at all .. nice to have a proper butcher, fish & deli counter (which most other supermarkets have given up on). The meat is always good (buy the premium range). I used to go to Morrisons in Bradford as a student over 40 years ago and have always had a soft spot for them. Bakery section is very good ... agree about the jam doughnuts- treated myself to some today.
And our local one is incredibly support to the local Food Bank.

tillytoodles1 · 03/08/2023 21:30

Although it's the nearest supermarket I hardly go there. I prefer ASDA or Tesco. They're a bit further but better quality.

Wheredidtheselotapego · 03/08/2023 21:35

the Pitta breads are great

apapuchi · 03/08/2023 22:26

Meat, bakery and cheese. I love the ones that still have the counters. My husband loves their salad bar and hot food too especially the fire ribs 🔥

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 03/08/2023 22:39

The salad bar!

TiggeryBear · 03/08/2023 22:42

The meat is usually pretty good quality & I love their bakery products.

HeidioftheAlps · 03/08/2023 22:43

The Coburg loaf is nice and the jam donuts.

scrivette · 03/08/2023 22:47

I went for the first time in years last week and was surprised at how expensive everything seemed to be.

Their fresh sausage rolls, cream cakes and jam doughnuts are nice though.

DaisyWaldron · 03/08/2023 22:47

Their fish counter is great. The meat counter is good, and I like their sausages, too. The olives with whole chillies at the deli counter are pretty good, too. And I really like their Charleston range of crockery.

Summerscoming23 · 03/08/2023 22:49

I lived beside one before,it had the best salad counter!

Crikeyalmighty · 03/08/2023 22:58

@EnthENd I totally agree. I go in just to buy Longley farm -although we have a very good one in central Bath that does good poke bowls etc too - most of their ready meals and stuff though is not good

JobMatch3000 · 03/08/2023 23:11

Coleslaw
Yogurt coated rice cakes
Nutmeg kids clothes for the basics
Kids strawberry toothpaste
The cat likes their grain free cat food

I've not noticed them being any more expensive than other supermarkets and I've never had an issue with their fruit/veg.
