What fun or nice thing have you done this weekend that hadn't cost much money?

Many of us need to find free or very cheap things to do these days so I thought we could share some here.

We have done a bike ride and a walk to see some beautiful bluebells in woods.
We had a movie night last night and might have another one tonight if the dc can decide on a film.

Went for a run up to Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace to see the arrangements etc being made for the Coronation. Came back and had a long soak in the bath with a good book.

I pulled up some rhubarb from my allotment and made a crumble to eat two hours later.

HarleyLane · 30/04/2023 20:57

Sowed some seeds that we had collected last year.

Put some cuttings in water to root, from plants collected on a walk and from our garden.

A few hours on the beach with the dogs.

redspottedmug · 30/04/2023 21:01

Baked some scones and took them with a flask of tea and a picnic rug to the beach.

Have managed some good outside time with DD (14m) we live in a flat without a garden so trying to make an effort to get out more now the weather is improving.
Couple of walks round the local streets in which she has great fun pointing out all the 'dog dog'. And I have downloaded a bird identifying app which I have had fun using.
Then today we sat on the field area at the local park and she crawled around exploring dandelions- first time she has been brave enough to explore a bit away from me outside really.

Also in line with the horse from a pp- had a fabulous day at football yesterday- didn't cost me anything yesterday but the season ticket costs a fortune!

Went for a bluebell walk. Well, went for a walk round the woods I walk the dog in every day and they happen to be full of bluebells and anemones at the moment. Even though I do it every day I still marvel at how beautiful they are 😍

We went to a pipe band thing with other events in a nearby town. It was really fun and dd loved playing in a different playpark for an hour or so.

DelilahBucket · 30/04/2023 21:16

We go for different walks every weekend, exploring fairly local areas that we've never been on foot. Today was a park and woods that wasn't too far away. Lots of wildlife, discovered an old railway line we didn't know existed and a close up of a kestrel sat nearby was a real highlight. Cost us about £1.60 in petrol to get there and back.

Read a book I've wanted to read for ages, curled up in bed.

Hoppinggreen · 30/04/2023 21:21

We played badminton at our local leisure centre. £10 for an hour and £2 to park.
Got the teens out of their rooms and off devices plus it was good exercise.
We had a good laugh too

Car boot sale

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 30/04/2023 21:26

Both yesterday and today we drove to our local beach, and shared a portion of chips whilst we watched the sea.

Cost a bit more today because we had an ice-cream after, but still one of the cheapest things we can all do together AND all enjoy.

onwardandupwards · 30/04/2023 21:37

My ds is 3 today so we went to a local farm ( £3 entrance fee including the soft play) and whilst we were feeding the sheep and looking at the lambs, a sheep gave birth. Then home for some birthday cake and a disco bath ( £1 glowsticks and some music playing, ds loves a disco bath)

bravotango · 30/04/2023 21:39

We went to see our local cricket club play, and sat in the sun eating crisps!

Boomboom22 · 30/04/2023 21:42

Went to a park I found on Google maps 15 mins away that I didn't know existed. I think there are loads around and I thought I'd found them all years ago so quite pleased about that.

honeylulu · 30/04/2023 21:44

Messy Church - we made crowns for the coronation! Planted lots of flower seeds in the garden. Chatted to neighbours over the wall. Watched the last episodes of The Twelve. Decluttered some stuff!

Went for a walk to a local beauty spot £5 for a coffee £6 and a sausage cob on the way home £7 not the cheapest but cheaper than normal

livingthegoodlife · 30/04/2023 21:53

Kyse · 30/04/2023 21:54

Had an "everything" shower Grin
Shaved, exfoliated, used body lotion, painted my toenails, the lot. Feel squeaky clean and ready for the week

Got a coffee and hot donut from a local place, it's £4.50 for a coffee and two donuts and they do different flavours every month

Looked up and bookmarked some new recipes to try

illiterato · 30/04/2023 21:56

Parkrun
took the dog on the beach
rugby festival- there is a membership fee but it works out about 2:50 per session per child so is good value for what they get out of it.

HappiDaze · 30/04/2023 22:11

I made bread and butter pudding for the first time ever because when I had my shopping delivered yesterday I had ordered 2 loaves of bread in error and had lots of milk left over (which I also used to make a fish pie)

It turned out really well and was delicious.

I used a Mary Berry recipe.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 30/04/2023 22:12
