What fun or nice thing have you done this weekend that hadn't cost much money?

Many of us need to find free or very cheap things to do these days so I thought we could share some here.

We have done a bike ride and a walk to see some beautiful bluebells in woods.
We had a movie night last night and might have another one tonight if the dc can decide on a film.

We have done two lovely king bike rides too. We went so far today that my three year old fell asleep on the child seat at the back of me! Was so lovely and eldest loved them.

Off to a local windmill today that has a free museum and little steam trains that can be ridden £1 each and we have left over tickets from our last visit.

Sat and watched some football with DH and my two DS 20 and 18. Eldest home from uni and goes back today.
Just the four of us. Never happens.

Went to see a TV show being filmed in Salford - tickets are free for lots of different shows and you can apply here: lostintv.com/tv-shows

Gave blood Followed by a lovely cake and juice

Made beer battered fish for the first time. I love to cook and trying out new recipes makes my heart sing

I've been for a walk in the woods to see the bluebells. I did some gardening, just weeding, etc, but satisfying to see it looking tidier. Yesterday afternoon I made a Victoria sponge cake.

Invited one of DS's classmate and family over. Kids tore it up in garden/bedroom and adults sat on the patio enjoying the sunshine and eating biscuits.

Also slow stitching, which is my new favourite thing.

This sounds like you have a weird selection of gifts to someone.

DD (13) and I had a self care morning (her request). DH took her to get a face mask on Saturday and yesterday we did the face masks, put cucumber slices on our eyes, she made drinks with lemon and strawberry slices and we even put on spa music. It was really nice so we're going to do it on a regular basis.

I haven't read the whole thread yet so this might have already been suggested.but I will be getting my dc to write to the king at Buckingham Palace. They wrote to the Queen when it was her jubilee and got a reply.

At a NT house today. DS and I are members so apart from lunch and the monthly payment it's a pretty cheap day out!

@honeylulu what is a messy church if you don't mind me asking? My daughter asked me to take her to one but I said that every church that I'd ever been to was tidy - I've no idea what she's talking about!

Messy Church is an activity event, usually on Sunday afternoons once a month for children. It's centrally organised but any denomination church can participate. It's the activity that is "messy" - lots of cutting, sticking and gluing! We all help clear up aftewards. There is a theme to each one. This one was "Kings" (biblical and our royal family). The previous ones were Easter, Lent and Epiphany I think. It's good fun ... and the mess isn't in my house!

We mooched around a car boot sale (live in a small town so bumped into loads of people we know) then walked over to a tiny art exhibition in a neighbouring village. It helped that the weather was nice!
