Is anyone else surprised that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have broken up ?

TBF he always seemed very bland. But I sort of figured that’s what she wanted! I really liked all her songs about being happy and relaxed in a grown-up relationship in your thirties. Hope she finds someone else nice. Maybe it’s a bit teenage of me but I love her 😭.

Me too, I’m a big Swiftie - around the same age as Taylor and have been a fan since my teens.
Some of those songs will definitely hit differently if the rumours are true. 😔

At their ages I would assume one of them wanted to move on to marriage and babies and the other one wasn’t ready. Pity.

I thought there was a lyric on her new album that was quite telling...staring at the ceiling with you, and you don't ever say too much.

It's the kind of thing you try to convince yourself is romantic at the time, but look back and think...urgh he was such a bore/a bit thick really.

It never seems to be easy for many very famous people to find a happy lasting relationship, so I am not that surprised. However, she come across as a decent person and her music is not pompous or arrogant, and I hope she does find lasting happiness with someone.

What d’you mean? He’s a film star, not some civilian wage slave.

He's not a massive star and if anything his value was significantly boosted by being Mr TS.
I suspect this was harder for him than for her, but we'll never know (until maybe the next album)....
I love her, she just seems so wonderful and a great role model for girls and young women.

I thought they were lovely together and that he seemed to keep her very grounded and stable compared to some of the relationships she’s had with - well, I suppose what a PP would describe as ‘more talented’ partners. I love him as an actor though.
