Good Morning All! What's everyone up to this Easter Saturday?

I'm sitting in my spot, as usual, enjoying my first cuppa. The birds are very quiet at the minute, apart from the wood pigeon cooing away, and I'm reasonably sure I've just seen a pair of doves but wasn't fast enough to the big window to look properly before they flew away.

My plans for the day are not very much again 😢 I'll finish the props I was painting yesterday and start varnishing them, and work on one of my crochet projects - not sure which one yet 🤔 There's a few household bits to be done slowly, over the course of the day, too.

I'm quite missing our weekend trips into town to the market.

Dd2 is very much looking forward to a walk to big Tesco, with dd1, for some bits we need 🤣 There's a small Asda and Lidl closer but apparently the big shop is fun 🤷‍♀️

We're having Chinese takeaway for tea - it'll take me days to finish mine but I'm really looking forward to it 😋

What about all of you? 🙂

Early evening where I am. It has been a beautiful sunny, slightly chilly (20 degrees) Autumn day. Did some running around dropping kids at various places this morning, then a Pilates class with DH, read my book then we had a nice lunch with cheese, pate and wine. Some boring housework in the afternoon now I need to marinade my lamb for Easter lunch tomorrow and I am making risotto for dinner. I love Easter.

ssd · 08/04/2023 09:05

Im working overtime. Its sunny outside but im in a shop all day unfortunately.

Have a nice easter @lucysmam

ssd · 08/04/2023 09:07

@lucysmam , be careful with your Chinese dinner if you don't eat it all at once, sometimes they shouldn't be eaten the 2nd or 3rd day.

ssd · 08/04/2023 09:08

Especially if your tummy is still dodgy

Babdoc · 08/04/2023 09:09

Final touches getting the house ready for the family arriving - picking flowers and herbs, marinading lamb, decorating the cake etc - then going out for lunch with friends.

SnowSnow · 08/04/2023 09:09

Taking the dog to the vets as she has split her claw and then later popping to a friend's for a catch up. Enjoy your Chinese

mamaduckbone · 08/04/2023 09:09

I'm sitting having breakfast in the garden in the sunshine, listening to the birds.

Dh and ds2 have just left to go to a rugby camp so they won't be back until lunchtime tomorrow. Ds1 and I are going over to visit my mum for a couple of hours and do a few jobs in her garden, then back here to do a bit more work on my garden I think.

No idea if ds1 is in or out tonight so it could just be me with a glass of wine and the remote, which will be nice as so rare. I haven't planned dinner but I'll probably just have bits and pieces if it's just me.

FoolsOld · 08/04/2023 09:10

I'm on the early shift so me and DS are sitting half watching Matilda, half writing a leaflet about London (homework). Then when DH is up we're heading to an Easter egg hunt at the local garden centre. Party this afternoon (hoping there will be a bouncy castle to tire out DS!) and leaving DH at home to tidy the house as we have our new neighbours coming round for fizz & nibbles tonight 🥂

BooksAndHooks · 08/04/2023 09:10

I’ve run out of yarn for the blanket I’m working on, so going to try and find somewhere open to get more.

Then going to make lemon Easter biscuits with DD.

Sweetladyjane · 08/04/2023 09:12

I’m sitting in garden reading my book in peace before the DC emerge from their pits wanting food. Today will be spent sitting in the garden and pottering. Will take the dogs for a nice long walk later.

MajesticWhine · 08/04/2023 09:13

Getting the house ready for tomorrow - in-laws coming in large numbers for lunch 😧

legofrostqueen · 08/04/2023 09:15

Hope you are feeling better @lucysmam

I've been up since just after 6am with DDog. Just had an hour long walk with him - now put a wash on & will tackle the ironing mountain shortly.

DH is still suffering with several broken ribs following a fall off a stepladder a couple of weeks ago.

DS age 17 is working two 12 hour shifts at his part time restaurant job so we'll barely see him this weekend.

Prepping today for Easter Sunday lunch, when our former Ukrainian house guest & family are coming over. Our guest moved out to rent a place with the wider family in late February, they are just at the bottom of our road so we can still offer some support, although they're very self-sufficient.

No plans for the rest of the weekend. It's nice just to potter around. We had fabulous weather yesterday but it's full today. Hope everyone has a good one Flowers

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 08/04/2023 09:16

Good morning Lucysmam I hope you are feeling better. My plans were cancelled so I have a quiet day planned. First wash is nearly done then another small one to do. I text dd for a visit but I haven't heard back yet so I assume she's trying to put me off but worried about hurting my feelings 😄 salmon fillet with salad for dinner

Simonjt · 08/04/2023 09:17

It’s a little later here, 10:12, its very sunny today, so I’m sat on the porch having a coffee and a cigarette. We’re going to a new playpark today and I’ve somehow been conned into taking the children from next door. Stranger danger is not a thing in Sweden, there is a primary school down the road, the playground is literally open, how do the children not just run off?

We have my husbands grandparents here, so they and my Ma are having the smalls and the dog for a few hours tonight, so we’re taking advantage and going on a dinner cruise to Vaxholm and then we might go out for a few drinks depending on how tired we are.

Simonjt · 08/04/2023 09:18

@lucysmam What is your usual chinese food order?

Hedjwitch · 08/04/2023 09:19

No plans at all today really, which is nice. Might take mum out for a bit.

Decafflatteplease · 08/04/2023 09:19

Morning @lucysmam and all. Takeaway sounds a great idea!

Another beautiful day here everything is so much nicer with a bit of sun!

We are all just pottering at the moment, I'm waiting for the washer to finish so I can have a shower (can't do both at same time as they both need cold water) then I want to get the sheets on the line. Love a line of washing flapping in the breeze, simple pleasures!

In a bit we are off to MILs for an Easter "party" not really a party but toddler DC calling it that and it's stuck! buffet, egg hunt and games. Will be nice.

This evening DH is out for dinner and drinks with friends so we will get DC McDonald's on way home from MIL then I'll do bedtime routine then I think settle down with my own food not sure what yet and I want to start my new book.

Also need to get the Easter stuff out it's hiding place and sort ready for tomorrow!

All in all a lovely Saturday I think 🙂

CleaningOutMyCloset · 08/04/2023 09:22

I was convinced it was sunday, so I'm happily sat drinking tea in the knowledge I've got one more day off than I thought I had Grin

liveforsummer · 08/04/2023 09:24

Still in bed enjoying a lie in with a very happy little dog who loves to not have to get up at the crack of Dawn. Sun is shining in though so will get up soon and take dd2 up to the yard where our pony is kept. It's especially lovely up there in the sun so we'll potter around most of the day. Dd1 is away with brownies so dd2 will pick tea and probably have a movie night

lucysmam · 08/04/2023 09:25

@Simonjt I try something different almost every time! Last time was chicken in a sticky honey & chilli sauce which I thoroughly enjoyed. Accompaniments are usually egg fried rice and plain chow mein as dd2 is a bit fussy with food. If me and dd1 want anything more exciting, we tend to experiment here rather than pay for two lots.

@ssd that is a good point about my stomach.

Good morning everyone!
Just back from a long sniffy-dog walk, so quiet and peaceful and lovely to be out in the sunshine.
I really don’t have any plans for this weekend, I will make the most of the sunshine and sit and enjoy it. I have some knitting to get on with so will listen to podcasts at the same time.

popandchoc · 08/04/2023 09:27

Just at swimming lesson with dd2 . Very quiet as it’s the bank holiday weekend .
dd1 was at a sleepover and doesn’t want to be picked up yet .
might go to the park or something later as spent yesterday sorting the garden out .

Slimjimtobe · 08/04/2023 09:29

I’m trying to avoid eating the bad stuff mainly 😂

dc still not well so we are cuddling up with a film and then I’ll make chicken skewers and veg for lunch (rice for dh)

sat night takeaway with ant and Dec tonight and a film after

Natsku · 08/04/2023 09:30

Got up early to bake a lemon cake to take with me to the boccia tournament I'm volunteering at today, to sell in the café.
OH has to work so I have to take the children with me plus DD's friend who slept over last night but she is volunteering to entertain DS while DD helps me in the café.

I think when we finally get home we'll have an easy beige freezer food dinner and watch a film.

golddustwomen · 08/04/2023 09:30

Good morning!

Sitting outside with my second brew waiting for the washing machine to finish. Need to wash up last nights Indian takeaway, it stinks and I'm kicking myself for leaving it last night. Filled up the bowl with cold water and washing up liquid whilst the kettle was boiling. Second time this week I've put the cold tap on and not noticed til the bowl is full. Losing my marbles in 2023 it seems Grin
