If I get a tummy tuck can I ask for no belly button?

I don't want to be a lizard or anything 😂

I'm seriously considering a TT after a significant weightloss.

I hate bellybuttons. I hate mine. I hate cleaning it. I hate dealing with it when it gets yucky (happens quite a bit due to folds of skin from weightloss)

I would say I've got a bit of a phobia of them tbh.

When I see TT pics they look brilliant apart from the constructed belly button.

It freaks me out. It's what's put me off. Having some moved belly button that needs tending to heal.

Can I just say pull my skin down, stitch me up and don't construct a belly button?

I was thinking I could get one tattooed on down the line.

Will they think I'm crazy? 😂

This place is the Wild West today!

Anyhow… don’t be daft. Keep your belly button.

😁

I doubt it. It would look really odd.

To who? Nobody sees my stomach apart from me and maybe the odd doctor once every few years.

It just makes me feel physically sick thinking about it stitched up

It's ridiculous, I know.

I just thought it might allow me to actually get it done.

Otherwise I don't think I could.

My skins quite sore at the moment :(

Can they do this?! I would totally get a tummy tuck if they did. Tummy buttons are so gross 🤢

PrettyMaybug · 06/04/2023 19:02

WTF? Confused No belly button?! Ewwww, how odd!

ditalini · 06/04/2023 19:02

Well yes you can - it's inevitable to lose it in some abdominal surgeries and reconstruction can be a bit hit or miss.

Talk to your surgeon. They'll likely try to discourage you if they don't think you're 100% because it's best to avoid a second surgery if you can, and that's what you'll need if you change your mind.

Riapia · 06/04/2023 19:45

Can’t you fill it with silicone sealer?

notprincehamlet · 06/04/2023 19:52

Would you not look like a Ken doll?

ittakes2 · 06/04/2023 20:27

I was told that Belly buttons have a stalk of blood supply so you have two choices in a tummy tuck - cut around the stalk and keep the blood supply or cut off the blood supply and reconstruct a belly button.

I'm planning on getting a tt at some point and have wondered this. I'm not bothered by belly buttons but I am freaked out at the thought of moving it.

I did read something about getting one tattooed one once you've healed.

Now I hate belly buttons.
I've never been weird about them until reading that.

Paintings of Adam and Eve have them even though they shouldn't.

Even though it looks weird.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/04/2023 20:46

Just got for a consultation and ask OP

StarDolphins · 06/04/2023 20:49

Go for it, I think it’s good to look how you want, it’s your body.

I had a face lift & asked them to remove my nose while I was under. I can’t tell you how much better I feel not having to constantly blow it.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 06/04/2023 20:49

But where's the belly button fluff going to congregate 🤔

Tessisme · 06/04/2023 20:53

I hate my belly button but I can't imagine not having it. A few years ago I got an infection in mine and something felt not quite right when I was applying the cream. I was also in a lot of pain. I went to my GP and he had a good old look in there with a torch and said there was an undissolved stitch inside. It was from when I had keyhole surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. He offered to wheech it out with tweezers there and then, but I almost fainted at the idea. So it's possibly still in there, if it hasn't dissolved by now. Bleurgh!!

welshweasel · 06/04/2023 20:57

Yes of course you can choose to not have a belly button. Most people wouldn't but it actually makes the surgery less complex.

MuthaHubbard · 06/04/2023 20:59

I've had TT and specifically requested no belly button.
Like you I hated mine - I have kind of a dimple instead and love it

👏👏👏

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 06/04/2023 21:01

I swear, if I saw someone in a bikini on the beach and they’d done away with their belly button I would not be able to stop staring

👀👀

Maidofdishonour · 06/04/2023 21:02

Mine kept getting infected after numerous laparoscopies. I had it removed 10 years ago and it was such a relief. I don’t miss it in the slightest!

AndTheSurveySays · 06/04/2023 21:18

Instead of having a belly button tattooed on I'd go for an actual button tattoo.

notprincehamlet · 06/04/2023 21:21

How would you navel-gaze? Where would you look?
