If I get a tummy tuck can I ask for no belly button?

I don't want to be a lizard or anything 😂

I'm seriously considering a TT after a significant weightloss.

I hate bellybuttons. I hate mine. I hate cleaning it. I hate dealing with it when it gets yucky (happens quite a bit due to folds of skin from weightloss)

I would say I've got a bit of a phobia of them tbh.

When I see TT pics they look brilliant apart from the constructed belly button.

It freaks me out. It's what's put me off. Having some moved belly button that needs tending to heal.

Can I just say pull my skin down, stitch me up and don't construct a belly button?

I was thinking I could get one tattooed on down the line.

Will they think I'm crazy? 😂

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles that's such a disgusting image. I think enough MN for me tonight 😝

I know this is probably a joke, but im hoping to be in the same position as the OP next year (as in lost enough to be at this stage) and I am very very tempted by this idea 😂

Absolutely ridiculous.

I love it, please do this!

Do you want to know something totally gross? I’ve got a reconstructed belly button from my TT. I have no idea why as I didn’t get this before surgery but I get black heads all the time all around the circumference of it and inside. I have to scrub them out on a weekly basis. Tt belly buttons are weird looking. Mine looked like a cats bum hole after surgery but then I got pregnant ( not adviseable after tt) and it stretched it all out again so now it looks a bit better ( apart from the sodding blackheads obviously).
I think you do need one in answer to your question though

But where's the belly button fluff going to congregate 🤔

I hate to think where it’s going to end up.

How would you navel-gaze? Where would you look?

Perfect

JudgeRudy · 06/04/2023 22:09

If the skin removal is such that your original belly button will be gone I see no reason why not. Tbf new ones are only constructed for aesthetic reasons. You'd actually be making their job easier.

I hate my belly button but I can't imagine not having it. A few years ago I got an infection in mine and something felt not quite right when I was applying the cream. I was also in a lot of pain. I went to my GP and he had a good old look in there with a torch and said there was an undissolved stitch inside. It was from when I had keyhole surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. He offered to wheech it out with tweezers there and then, but I almost fainted at the idea. So it's possibly still in there, if it hasn't dissolved by now. Bleurgh!!

You can tell you are not a sporner! Just the thought of someone pulling an infected stitch out of my belly button makes me feel quite…… erm…… excited!

Yellowcakestand · 06/04/2023 22:15

I feel you. I would also not have one if I could.i hate the feel if I have to touch inside of it. I recently had laproscopic surgery and had stitches in there. Made me feel sick looking at it

Go for it, I think it’s good to look how you want, it’s your body.

I had a face lift & asked them to remove my nose while I was under. I can’t tell you how much better I feel not having to constantly blow it.

🤣

BellePeppa · 06/04/2023 22:18

Well this is a first. I’ve never given my belly button a thought.

Probably, I don't see why not. I think it would be really weird but you do you! I saw someone with two!! That was a bit freaky!

What? How? 🤣🤣🤣

Elcapitano · 06/04/2023 22:39

Would there not be a bump under it though? Like from a vague recollection of all the early 00s plastic surgery shows my mam would have on TV, I'm sure they position the skin over the belly button and make a new hole in the correct position and stitch it to it. But if there's no hole I think the belly button would still exist underneath?

I might be talking crap BTW.

EnchentButteler · 06/04/2023 22:41

Yes of course you can. I wanted one because I used to have a nice one before DC and my post DC one was awful. My new one is ok but not a patch on my original one. It doesn't have any sensation inside which is probably a good thing as touching the inside used to make me feel sick.

Mossstitch · 06/04/2023 22:42

Don't see why not, some women have their nipples tattooed on after reconstructive surgery🤔

Lovelyring · 06/04/2023 22:47

I can understand why you'd want this. Worth asking surely?

I am also phobic about belly buttons. I hate mine being touched, even by myself. My ex did it as a "joke" once and I actually smacked him (hard too) as a reflex. Even thinking about touching it is like nails on a blackboard. Urghh.

percypal · 06/04/2023 22:52

This thread is hilarious and eye opening in equal measures!!!

I don’t specifically clean my belly button … should I?

percypal · 06/04/2023 22:54

I’ve also had laparoscopic surgery fairly recently and am now looking to see if my belly button looks different to how it did before! I know there was a stitch in there but I’ve not done anything with it.

JaneJeffer · 06/04/2023 22:59

Jesus!

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 06/04/2023 23:10

I used to have that horrible sick feeling if I touched my belly button. Then I had laproscopic surgery and they basically stabbed me in it. It's deeper now, which I find quite weird, but I don't get that weird sensation anymore.

No stitches for me - they glued everything. Proper sporn moment when basically a cast of my belly button in superglue scab came loose one day after itching madly for a while.

Correct. It’s fascinating to see. The surgeon cuts a circle around your bb then does the apronectomy. The he/she pulls the remaining upper section of skin down, cuts a hole in it, pops the bb through the hole and sews it in place.

I've just googled belly buttons now!

I feel rather queasy at the thought of googling belly buttons 😱

MrsMiddleMother · 07/04/2023 00:02

Your body your choice. If I saw you in a bikini and you didn't have a belly button I wouldn't think twice about it, many people have surgeries or abnormalities for a billion reasons and I wouldn't judge or think anything of it. so if its something that you feel strongly about, have the tummy tuck and get rid of the belly button.
