I have a significant event coming up in 3 weeks, I am going to sleep with someone I've been dating for the first time (divorced following a really abusive marriage, this is the first person since exH). I really want to lose weight for it and tone up. What is the best way to go about doing this? I don't want to be healthy, 1lb a week, steady weight-loss. I just want to give myself a kick-start, if that makes sense, so I feel a bit more confident in front of the new bloke. We could wait longer but honestly I don't want to. I am really lactose intolerant so avoid anything with dairy anyway. I think bread etc makes me bloated (to the extent I have been asked if I am preggo) so thinking could go GF as well...? Are there any exercises that would make a rapid impact in a short period of time? Please no "love your body" responses; I want to change it as am overweight and not at all toned. I am especially self-conscious about my belly, which is like an apron and my bum which is kind of flat but also covered in cellulite. I have asked my friends but they are all happily married which nice DHs so I don't think they get the significance of being naked in front of a new person in your early 40s. Thank you for reading 🙂

But your man already fancies you just the way you are?

Low carb. IF.

Magnu · 06/04/2023 02:00

Along with whatever exercise and diet you decided to follow, I've found that Marine Collagen capsules REALLY firmed up the skin on my skin and made me feel more toned, because my skin felt firmer and smoother.

I think I started seeing results in about 3 weeks with that.

Maybe try gentle intermittent fasting, cut out sugar and white carbs. Good luck, OP!

The skin on my skin? Grin I meant the skin on my body!

Valhalla17 · 06/04/2023 02:18

Lots of walking/moving
Hit cardio 3 times a week
Intermittent fasting, so eat in something like a 12-6 window for example

mackthepony · 06/04/2023 02:23

Low carb.
No alcohol
Loads of water

Thanks, will look it up. Hadn't thought of IF though I have done it before - thanks for that suggestion too

I don't drink but I will certainly try to drink more. Like 2 litres a day or something?

He fancies me with clothes on 😅 And a bra, and clothes that flatter my figure. I know how to disguise my belly / mum tum and I wear control spanx type underwear. I honestly feel such dread if I don't change how I look, and I won't be able to relax!!

I hear you. Fantastic new set of underwear also!

Daily plank building up the time, quickest way to a more toned core
squats whilst you’re brushing your teeth
no carbs

new undies

have a great time 😀

3 weeks isn't much! Probably like an extreme juice diet or lemon detox (careful because most people shit themselves on it). If the guy likes you he really won't care!!

Waolene · 06/04/2023 05:48

800 cals a day diet and at least 30 mins of aerobic exercise a day plus weights every other day

Galliano · 06/04/2023 05:49

Fast 800

Dancemonkee · 06/04/2023 05:53

They really don't care. Do it if you need to for your own confidence, but honestly they really don't care.

Fast 800. One hour of cardio per day. Get yourself some exercise bands and do some toning exercises daily.

Bear in mind if you lose weight quickly and have something like a tummy paunch, you'll just end up with loose skin.

A general glow up routine also - get a massage, body scrub etc and slather yourself morning and night with a body oil or lotion.

You can’t “tone up” in three weeks. Toning up is a term created to make weight lifting seem more feminine but the only way to “get toned” is to build muscle which takes a lot longer than three weeks.

The only way you can lose weight in that short of a time would be to do some very unhealthy fad diet or “detox” after which you will probably put all the weight back on again because it’s unsustainable.

Depending on how overweight you are it is possible you could lose 4-6lbs in 3 weeks through maintaining a calorie deficit (the only way to lose weight). Aim for around 1400 calories a day. I believe some pills to suppress your appetite have now been legalised as well but I can’t remember what they are called

Changeau · 06/04/2023 06:59

Drink 3l of water a day
Get out in the fresh air everyday
Book a full body scrub, leg wax and fake tan

None of them will really make you lose weight but you'll feel loads better!

Tomkirkman · 06/04/2023 07:03

How much do you weigh and how much do you want to lose?

You can’t tone up in 3 weeks. You need to build muscle to tone up. 3 weeks isn’t enough time to build significant muscle to make a visual difference. It would be especially hard to build it, if you also suddenly go very low calorie diet.

Unless you are slim and a few pounds will drop your body fat enough show off muscle you already have, 3 weeks isn’t long enough to make a big difference.

Also if you are slim, it will be harder to drop, for example, 10lbs. Harder than if you weigh 20 stone. 10lbs in 3 weeks would be possible. Not so much if you are 10 stone. It’s hard to say what’s possible if we don’t know how big a change you are hoping to make.

I think eating healthy, avoid foods that bloat you is good advice. And and concentrate on improving your skin. Drink loads of water, moisturise your body every time you bathe, exfoliate etc.

Find an active exercise you enjoy and do it frequently. Swimming, walking, cycling?
Reduce your sugar intake. Eat more protein, less carbs and avoid unhealthy snacks.
Feel positive about yourself, he obviously like you. Confidence and happiness are always attractive traits to others.

BHRK · 06/04/2023 07:15

You could lose 6lb through eating no bread, pasta rice etc So things like fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, big chicken or cottage cheese salad for lunch, fish or meat and veg for dinner. No alcohol. Snack on carrot sticks, pepper, celery, sliced chicken.
i agree that a bit of fake tan, doing. Your nails and a wax will make you feel good

Worldgonecrazy · 06/04/2023 07:16

Good old/fashioned Jillian Michaels The 30 day shred. Use slightly heavier weights - 4kg should be just about manageable. Plus IF first week 16:8, switching to 18:6, no alcohol, and very low carb. This is probably the healthiest way to lose quickly and have energy when you get there! Cut out all artificial sweeteners and eat as naturally as possible - meal plan ahead of time to make all this easier.

Regarding underwear, a push up bra/emphasising boobs will balance out tummy silhouette.

have fun!
