How can I slim down and tone up in as short time as possible?? Please help

Needmakeover · 06/04/2023 01:43

I have a significant event coming up in 3 weeks, I am going to sleep with someone I've been dating for the first time (divorced following a really abusive marriage, this is the first person since exH). I really want to lose weight for it and tone up. What is the best way to go about doing this? I don't want to be healthy, 1lb a week, steady weight-loss. I just want to give myself a kick-start, if that makes sense, so I feel a bit more confident in front of the new bloke. We could wait longer but honestly I don't want to. I am really lactose intolerant so avoid anything with dairy anyway. I think bread etc makes me bloated (to the extent I have been asked if I am preggo) so thinking could go GF as well...? Are there any exercises that would make a rapid impact in a short period of time? Please no "love your body" responses; I want to change it as am overweight and not at all toned. I am especially self-conscious about my belly, which is like an apron and my bum which is kind of flat but also covered in cellulite. I have asked my friends but they are all happily married which nice DHs so I don't think they get the significance of being naked in front of a new person in your early 40s. Thank you for reading 🙂

Fast 800. You can easily lose a stone in 3 weeks on this. Plus no bread allowed! Lots of water. Maje sure you get and read the book to understand the plan fully. Good luck!!

WoofWoofBeachLife · 06/04/2023 07:26

IF, low carbs no sugar and no alcohol or carbonated drinks. Lots of water, high intensity workouts and weights. Have a full body scrub and maybe one of those weight loss wraps. Lovely massage and a tan with beautiful flattering underwear and you're on it lady. Oh and a wee wax too. Have an amazing time 🤫🩷

mamnotmum · 06/04/2023 07:29

Like everyone else says fast, decrease carbs significantly and exercise as much as possible.

3 weeks isn't long enough to make a huge difference - realistically you need to tone as well as losing weight but 3 weeks is long enough to make a start.

Also I think great advise about getting some nice underwear etc. make yourself feel sexier regardless of the weightloss

Arniesleftleg · 06/04/2023 07:34

@Tomkirkman 100% agree. There are no quick fixes.

FairAcre · 06/04/2023 07:36

Dukan diet. It’s tough and probably not that healthy but I lost 6lb in a week. Some of that was obviously water but it gives you the incentive to carry on.

BearFacedCheekGrylls · 06/04/2023 07:37

Callanetics. If you can do it 4-5 times a week it will undoubtedly pull you in and tone your muscles

Highworth · 06/04/2023 07:38

Treat yourself to some pretty underwear that you feel supported and good in. Have confidence that this man wants you.

TwilightSkies · 06/04/2023 07:41

OP you need to relax. I doubt he’s panicking about starving himself so he looks good for sex!
If he doesn’t fancy you how you are right now, then he isn’t good enough for you.

Galliano · 06/04/2023 07:50

To elaborate on my fast 800 comment I started with a bmi of 23 and it took me exactly 4 weeks to lose a stone. This was sticking to the original plan not the keto one as I’m vegetarian. I think if you have more to lose you’ll probably lose a stone in 3 weeks if you stick to conscientiously.

unsync · 06/04/2023 07:53

Some chap posted on here recently to say that women worry too much about this. They are just like "ooh boobs". Maybe do a bit of work on relaxing so that you can enjoy it too.

Good old/fashioned Jillian Michaels The 30 day shred. Use slightly heavier weights - 4kg should be just about manageable. Plus IF first week 16:8, switching to 18:6, no alcohol, and very low carb. This is probably the healthiest way to lose quickly and have energy when you get there! Cut out all artificial sweeteners and eat as naturally as possible - meal plan ahead of time to make all this easier.

Regarding underwear, a push up bra/emphasising boobs will balance out tummy silhouette.

have fun!

I was going to suggest the shred. It’s the one thing that gets my fitness up really quickly.

Orangetreexherry · 06/04/2023 08:02

I noticed that fast walking to and from my office 5 days a week (pre Covid) 15-20 minutes each way got rid of my tummy by the end of the 2nd week, I think it’s a very healthy way to loose some unwanted weight.

The best advice!

absolutely, @Changeau should be a life coach

Snoozinandlosin · 06/04/2023 08:08

You can cheaply order either a kettlebell or dumbbells off Amazon and do some Body Fit by Amy YouTube videos. I did the 10 minute kettlebell one quite a lot before my holiday last year, somehow I never got bored and I saw a difference. I think mainly in my posture and core which then improves how everything else looks. I used a 4kg kettlebell and now use 2x3kg dumbbells for other workouts. That’s starting from zero.
And get yourself in the mindset that everything you do is a positive step even if you don’t achieve 100% of that’s days diet and exercise goals. If you do 10 minutes of weights instead of having that latte or glass of wine, that’s the exercise equivalent of a six pointer (if you follow football)

Paq · 06/04/2023 08:12

No carbs
Lots of water
Good sleep
Lots of exercise

In 3 weeks you'll make a very marginal difference but if it helps your confidence go for it.

He will not care 😀

Makesense12 · 06/04/2023 08:13

@Changeau out of interest where does one book a body scrub

WGACA · 06/04/2023 08:13

I promise you he won’t care about any of this. Sex with someone you fancy for the first time is great. I hope you have a lovely time.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 06/04/2023 08:18

I lost4lbs in ten days just before the end of the first lockdown (and so ten days before I was going to see extended family) and every day I:

Walked 20000 steps
Did a PMA YouTube workout every morning
Only ate between 12-8
Had no more that 1400 cals a day most of which were made of fage fat free Greek yoghurt, fruit, stir fry veg with soy sauce and some chicken.

It sounds dull but I felt a million times better than I had eating white toast during lockdown, I fit into a smaller dress and it kickstarted a really brilliant summer of feeling ripped and confident.

chocolatemonster · 06/04/2023 08:25

Drastic measures over 3 weeks is just going to leave you feeling awful. 800 calories is barely enough to sustain a toddler. The drastic ways will only leave you wanting to binge and putting the weight back on and more.

It's not worth it for one night - if he likes you - he will like you regardless of whether you lose a few pounds or not.

If you are serious about making long term changes then you could start building on that now and you will reap the rewards for life - it needs to be sustainable.

Calorie deficit - with good lean protein intake - chicken etc
Fruit and veg every day
Steps - at least 8k a day
Good sleep 7 to 9 hours
Stress management
Strength training a few times per week
Some cardio - doing lots of HIT workouts doesn't burn fat - CD is the only way. Cardio is good for overall health though
Water

You don't need to cut out any food groups - carbs are essential for fuel particularly if working out.

And the most important thing just aim for consistency not perfection.

And definitely agree with lots of pampering 😊😊

Good luck

ShirleyPhallus · 06/04/2023 08:29

Some absolutely hideous advice on this thread. Losing 6lbs in a week is not healthy - it’s mostly water and some muscle thrown in, but almost no fat at all. Please do not do any of these fad diets.

Concentrate on protein, walking, weights, drop carbs down a bit. Fake tan, nice underwear, relax and enjoy

Cheapasscrewtoprose · 06/04/2023 08:41

As much cardio as you can manage between now and then plus you need to be lifting some weights. Any kind of kettle bell/ ‘burn’ class will be good. As many of those as you can fit in. You’ll ache like hell though.
Toning is just building muscle then losing fat so that muscle then shows.

lilyfire · 06/04/2023 08:44

I agree Callanetics had the fastest impact in toning up of anything I’ve done. I think you’d notice a difference in three weeks.

Hazelnuttella · 06/04/2023 08:44

Look after your pelvic floor before you start any crazy new exercise regimes.

And work on your posture, will make you look and feel much better. Good short video here about pelvic tilt and posture.

Decent size breakfast, modest lunch then small supper/tea and go to bed a bit hungry.

NotQuiteUsual · 06/04/2023 08:52

I do one pilates, one yoga and one body balance a week and within a month I've had a massive difference in toning and posture. My general strength and muscle control has improved significantly. It won't help you loose weight, but good posture and a bit of toning will make a world of difference.
