I bought a pair of £1 knitted gloves on the market. Keep them in the car and put them on every morning to drive with in the eintet ( cold steering wheel makes my hands hurt).

They have lasted 4 winters so far. Just washed them and put them away for next winter.

I've got a denim jacket I bought in top shop for £25 in 2000.

Soonthen · 02/04/2023 16:42

£1 spatula that’s 29 years old.

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 02/04/2023 17:14

£2:50 woolly hat made out of leftover wool.

Sofa and two chairs bought secondhand for £30 over 15 years ago.

ohsuzannah · 02/04/2023 17:23

Well my spatula was free with Woman's weekly, and is 50 years old ( does that count)!

GlassBunion · 02/04/2023 17:58

A potato peeler that was bought at a jumble sale ( with now vintage Pyrex and other bits) by an aunt for my husband who had just moved into his first flat .
This was mid 80s.

It remains the most important tool in our kitchen.

Our last kettle (we have a boiling water tap now). Was about £15 from Argos and lasted for years and years, unlike some of its more expensive predecessors.

BansheeofInisherin · 02/04/2023 18:02

Gap denim jacket bought in 2003 for a price I can't remember but quite low and I still wear it!

RobinRobinMouse · 02/04/2023 18:04

Our hoover washing machine. We bought it when the previous one broke down and we had virtually no money, it was the cheapest one available and is now in its 12th year!

Peckhaminn · 02/04/2023 18:05

Tangle teezer. Got it when I was 10 (15 years ago!) and it has seen better days but does the job.

Letsnotargue · 02/04/2023 18:05

In the late 90s I got a free hairbrush on the front of a magazine. It’s one that folds in half, has a plasticky brush on one side and a comb on the other. I still take it out with me every time I go drinking as it’s just
perfect.

mrsfeatherbottom · 02/04/2023 18:07

I have an uplighter from IKEA that I bought about 1998 for about £12. Still going strong today.

RuthTopp · 02/04/2023 18:08

My ( summer ) dressing gown , 100 % cotton from St.Michael ( aka M & S ) at least 25+ years ago. Worn every summer since for probably about £8.

Maraudingmarauders · 02/04/2023 18:09

Dunlop wellies. Bought some Hunters and they lasted less than a year. Bought some.£14 Dunlops and on Yr 3 with no issues.

Needsomethingtoread · 02/04/2023 18:29

Some lovely jumpers from Asda. If washed correctly and not tumble dried have lasted 2 years. Still look new

Nsky62 · 21/06/2023 16:07

An old zanussi cheap washing machine, lasted 6.5 yrs
Hisense one now hate it, a decent Aeg when it dies

billy1966 · 21/06/2023 16:12

Argos own brand dehumidifier, dinger for clearing steam innthe kitchen during the winter when I am cooking up a storm!

billy1966 · 21/06/2023 16:14

A large black pepper grinder bought for 40p nearly 37 years ago in a market.

Have bought fancier ones since but this is still amazing and is my favourite for cooking.

CarpetSlipper · 21/06/2023 16:15

Primark skinny jeans (lasted 5+ years so far).
I buy cheap appliances and hope for 3-5 years. They have all lasted far longer.

Applesinmyhouse · 21/06/2023 17:13

A cheap toaster from Wilko. It was £8 IIRC. We had it for 9 years, and finally had to replace it this month (with another cheap toaster, alas this was £16).

idliketogetdownnow · 21/06/2023 17:22

Dressing gown from Dorothy Perkins in 2006. It's a fleece one in mint green and it still comes out of the wash each time looking brand new.

ComputerInitiateJump · 21/06/2023 17:24

A Dairylea lunch box that was free with tokens circa 1995. It's used all the time to store cheese in the fridge.

Also a blanket that we got free for joining the National Trust around 1993. It lives in my car and is always coming in handy.

Wildlyboring · 21/06/2023 17:29

Primark Pyjamas, worn them to death and they've washed and dried so well.

Crikeyalmighty · 21/06/2023 17:30

My £72 microwave, now in its 13th year

ProudThrilledHappy · 21/06/2023 17:34

Mi Band fitness tracker watch, cost under £25 and lasted years! Finally upgraded to their newer model this year, not because it broke but I wanted a newer one

keyboardkat · 21/06/2023 17:38

Ariston dishwasher and ceramic hob. Installed 1996 along with the plain real wood kitchen. Both still going strong. Kitchen plain as Jane, but has been painted a few times + new handles etc.. Older stuff lasts longest.
